Well I don't know if Faust even has a religion, and this kinda message has been done with other shows before, not to mention said concepts have existed long before the idea of god was even suggested, so I doubt it.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

The characters are far from perfect, but the morals of the show are something everyone should get behind, and incorporate into their lives. I mean, even the bible teaches the basic morals that MLP does. treating othes how you, yourself, would want to be treated, giving is greater reward than recieving, don't judge others, be honest, repect your parents, etc.

She's said before that her inspiration for the show was the stories she made up when she played with her pony toys as a kid. Whether religion has anything to do with it, she hasn't said. I think not, as religion hasn't even being mentioned in the show before.

I think Lauren would be far too modest to make that kind of claim.  As for inspiration, I think some of the best moments in the show are touching reminders that the best way to honor god is to be forgiving, caring, and compassionate to others.

Given the amount of Greek Mythology in the show, if Faust was inspired by a god, that God was Zeus.

(But, I think she was just a really creative person.)

No! It was one of the muses. Probably Thalia considering how everything turns out great in the end. (It's a kid's show, so that's expected though.)

Lot of these show ideas do come from literature with origins of the Biblical context. Good vs. Evil is a very strong Christian platform. If you look into other non-Christian centered cultures like Japan the Good vs. Evil thing is less common.

While similarities can be found in MLP to Christian teaching this is because said lesson have been applied in numerous religious and secular contexts. There probably was no divine intervention in the creation of MLP, but it still a good show.

If Faust got her inspiration from a supernatural source, it had to have been that she made a deal with the devil.

It almost seems like she made a Faustian bargain.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was inspired by religious beliefs, although it could just be the fact that many religions teach good morals.

I am truly suprised this topic didnt turn into a debate with the mere mention of God. Good on you guys.
