No, I don't think so.

 

That could be the case, about people leaning more to the sweet and shy pegasus. It is also understandable that it has something to do with their own qualities. Kind of like how you choose friends. "Tell me who you're friends are and I'll tell you who you are", as how the saying goes.

 

But I believe that it does not only tell you who you are but more specifically the qualities that you deem important. Other than that, they could have qualities that you would love to have or those in which you can relate more.

 

Like if you ask someone to give a word which describes them the most, they could say that they're 'shy' or 'hard working'. The former would sound a bit unappealing contradicting to what the latter said. But a warning for this fickle kind of idea is that people are more than 'shy', 'hard working' and any other adjective. I've met plenty of 'shy' people having more friends and 'hard working' ones that are not easy to approach to.

 

I like Rarity. Why? Out of the six main cast, she's the more creative one. I'm creative so it makes sense (not to brag here every pony).

 

Also, she has a certain kind of confidence that I admire. Her ability to be head-strong when it come to her dreams and aspirations is really awe-inspiring. (Miss Rarity, if you're reading this then congratulations to the new boutique in Canterlot. You deserve it  ). I can understand how she is such a "Drama Queen", knowing she doesn't give two bits about every pony out there when her mascara is running on her face.

 

I could say how much a sucker I am for her colors, white and purple (?) are really elegant-looking. 

 

If my friends would have to pick from the six on which one is more like me, I'd say I'm a Fluttershy. Not relatable on the actual one that I like but I don't hate her either. But ask me the same question then I'm Team Rarity all the way.

The reason I like Sunset Shimmer is mainly because she reminds so much of myself.
Her and I are still learning so much about friendship, and what it means to be a good friend. Unlike her though, I really don't really have many friends IRL to teach me. We both have trust issues, and are kind of socially un-confident because we've always been selfish. We mean well, but our past get's in the way. I like how even through all this, she's still determined to change herself, even though it can get pretty bad sometimes.

 

She's an inspiration to me, and I really look up to her.

Twilight is my favorite because I like to think she is like me on a good day (well, other than being a female animated pony, of course.  But, that is just superficial)

 

Rarity was my least favorite because she was a diva, a drama queen, & a manipulative gold digger (The way she acted in Sweet & Elite or Best Night Ever or the way she treated Spike in Secret of My Excess, for instance).  But, by season 4 she has greatly matured & mostly grown out of this so I like her better.

 

Not liking Fluttershy is like not liking kittens (Ogden Nash's comment was "The trouble with a kitten is that it grows up & becomes a  cat")

Yes, Twilight and Fluttershy are my favorites because they are apply to me. Like Fluttershy, I love the nature and animals, I try to be kind to everyone and sometimes, I am a little bit shy. And like Twilight, I like science, I study and when something don't work, I react like her (Clock is ticking). 

 

My number one favorite characters are always characters who apply to me. I would never say: "Fluttershy is my favorite because she is cute." Yes, she is cute, but the others are also cute and for me, things like cute, cool or funny are not the reason for me to choose a favorite pony.

My favourite of the mane six is Twilight and I do relate to her greatly with my need for knowledge and my believing mostly in science.

 

My favourite of the CMC and my favourite pony overall is Apple Bloom for a reason even I can't figure out. I guess I can relate to her in the way that I want to figure out what I want to do with my life and have not yet figured that out.

Not really, one of the ponies I relate to is Fluttershy, and she's my least favorite of the mane 6. in fact my favorites are the ones I probably relate to the least, Rarity and Applejack, though I do relate to Applejacks bluntness. 

I WANT to be like them though, I wish I could be as driven and goal focused as Rarity and as hard working as Applejack.

I can relate to Pinkie because I have ADHD, and it's not as fun as it looks, trust me. I have a lot of trouble paying attention in class, I stop paying attention when anyone starts talking to me, and it's really annoying... I guess that's why Pinkie is my favorite. I feel a lot better knowing that she has it and can be happy about it.

If this was a few years ago, I would say yes. Fluttershy was originally my absolute favorite, which I can relate to her a lot. I am shy, introverted, scared of a lot of things, basically lot's of Fluttershy personality traits in a blender. However, after season 3, Twilight slowly became my absolute favorite, I absolutely adore her. However, on the flipside, I do not relate to her much, at all. I am can relate to the aspect where she is kinda nerdy because I definitely am, but I think that is where the relations end, which is a shame. :c She is a much better worker, she is smart, she is able to accomplish a lot of great things, there is just so much awesome about here that I do not have. So that in itself is kinda odd but still, she is my favorite.

My favorite of the mane 6 are Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle, and that's because of how much I relate to them. I can be goofy and random at times like Pinkie, yet I can also be nerdy with education, so I'm like Twilight in that sense. I can also relate to Derpy in that I can screw up at times, but not make too big a deal about it. Still thinking about if I can relate to Lyra or not.

Not at all. Maybe it's my more analytical side coming through, but I always thought relatability is a bit overrated as a tool for measuring a character, or at least relatability with personality. It's important to have empathy for them, but for me it's more important that they be dynamic and interesting and well written. My favorite is Rarity, and she's as different from me in personality as it gets, but I think that she's a fascinating character in the way she comes together. There are parts of her personality that come together in unique ways , and she has hidden depths that might not be appreciated otherwise.

I gotta say Applejack is the pony I relate to the most. I feel the southern hospitality radiate off of her and Dixie is imbued in my being.

 

Lifestyle wise I relate more to Octavia, we're both pretty classical musicians with a refined character. superficially, she wears bow ties and bow ties are the only type of tie I purchase.

I am very much like the characters I love in Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie... The other three are Cadence, Luna, and Shining Armor but not much to work with there.

In short:

Applejack, well, I'm extremely honest, rather blunt but at some times passive aggressive because some people have feelings and I do to... And in all honesty, I'd rather not rip someone to pieces no matter how badly I want to.

 

Ask my friends, any of them. On or off forums. They literally pray for me to stop working... It's actually a problem with how much I overload myself. Work is work and it has to get done...(Ah, irony, is literally in class taking a break )

I'm reliable and independent... To be honest, I am really am viewed as a father figure in many instances... Responsible, Stubborn, Prideful, Honest, Hard-Working, Caring, a Leader... Just how I see father's or the ideal of Father's.

Haha, I guess that's my deal with Minuette! She's so cheerful and friendly and I wish I were more like her... She's the opposite of me and she's what I aspire to be.
