Quick survival test

A looming disaster threatens your home. The roads out are clogged with cars...a standstill. You have to get out, and that means trekking over some hills to a nearby town. This means two, possibly three nights in the wild. the alternative is certain death!

You have a backpack and a sleeping bag (and you are healthy).

But time is short, you can only grab three things from your home and then you MUST leave.

Rules:

1) only three things, but you can coordinate with each other

2) these will be things that are actually in your home.

I will start

1) box of matches wooden

2) bag of rice (5 pounds)

3) cooking pot

Debbie said she will bring a bag of dry cat food (not leaving without the kitties).

our small tent, and a knife

That is what we are bringing. What are you bringing?

Depends on the disaster, really. That having been said, I currently have an emergency backpack packed with Iodine tablets for water purification, a pound or so of packaged high-protein food, a hatchet, solar powered flashlight, a first aid kit and walkie-talkies.

Does this still count as one item?

Three things I would take from my house and run for my life?

A knife, a lighter, and some apples. Apples as they are practically the only thing I can get right now in large quantities and are rather delicious.

It counts as common sense. you could just grab that and go.

But the scenario calls for just three things.

lets assume the day before you emptied your pack to show a friend. Now you can grab three things...what would you grab?

From my college dorm? Man, I'm screwed.

I'd grab my RA first-aid kit (AKA the band-aid dispensary), my multitool, and a small bag with a change of clothes in it. People undervalue the joys of having clean cloth during an emergency, plus it helps me stay warm in the Arizona night.

why do you work for Queen Chrysalis? A samurai duty is to serve his master, regardless of the kind of person she is .

Lmao, this is way too vague.  What kind of disaster?  Flooding?  Fire?  Military?  Aliens?  EMP knock out all electronics?  Zombies?

I mean if electronics still work... it would change my answers.

This is if they didn't work:

1. My Remington 12 gauge shotgun (and ammo).
2. An axe.
3. A Bic lighter.

~ Miles

P.S.  If electronics still worked, I guess I'd just replace the axe with my cell phone.  I have plenty of old high school friends who live out of town, basically at the edge of the woods.

1) A hand-cranked combination radio/flashlight for light and news.

2) A water filter, because dehydration strikes much quicker than starvation (plus it's only like 3 days)

3) Parrot food. I'm not abandoning my bird.

1.) Strong hatchet.

2.) Tent.

3.) Water filter.

An entire backpack and I can only carry 3 things? Really? How am I that bad at Tetris that I fill up the entire backpack with just 3 things?

Alright, does my phone count? If so that's #1

#2 is my water bottle

#3 would be a can of beans or something. Not sure how I would open it though. :P

I'd bring a phone, pizza (if any is ordered first... If not, I'll take a large bag of chips), and a 2 L bottle of Mountain Dew. And if you think the phone's to call for help or loved ones, you're half wrong, I'd bring it for the internet connection (via wi-fi) and watch a marathon of mlp. :3

Oh, good questions!

1. Leatherman

2. CLS pack

3. Cooking pot

I know the last is silly... but you can boil and clean water in it, cook in it, and use it for a variety of purposes. My Leatherman is the Surge model and has a everything from scissors to a saw blade. I still have my issued Combat Life Saver pack, so I'd bring that for medical purposes.

I assume that this is a pretty serious disaster and electronics and whatnot will be out of the question?

Well, I suppose I'd grab some tinned food, a hatchet and some flint and steel.

Metal water bottle, hatchet, run to the gas station and buy a zippo/a few lighters.

I'm lucky I'm me! I always carry three things on my person: smartphone, wallet and keys. My smartphone has several emergency numbers stored, I keep bandaids in a side-pouch of my wallet, and my keys have a Swiss Army knife on the ring. My backpack has a leatherman, a pen, toothbrush and some paper in it at all times.

Three nights? Thats easy to survive here out in the "Wild" theres nothing here to kill you....

1) Can of beans

2) Bottle of water

3) Phone for something to do.

I only eat 1 meal a day as it is, i could easily go those 3 nights without food and not die.
