How do you feel when you're buying MLP stuff in a shop?

I have no issue with buying MLP things. I just go in the store with a smile on and browse until I find something I like. People who judge others for what they buy usually have no self confidence and have to put others down to make themselves feel worth something.

Sig made by me. Surprisingly it came out somewhat decent.

I feel like I'm buyin a bag fulla swag B)

But seriously though, I really don't feel any different about buying that compared to buying something like a Transformer or a Lego Model of sorts.

It's just something I like collecting and that's that.

It's really no big deal :P

Haven't bought anything yet, but when I do, I'm not going to feel any different from buying a candy bar. Or a chicken. Or something else that has nothing to do with ponies.

I'm not ashamed of liking MLP, and I have no reason to hide my liking for the show. In fact, when people make fun of me for it, I just smile and laugh, though protecting my name at the same time. I feel approaching your problems with a positive attitude works wonders.

I feel LIKE A BOSS!!! In all seriousness though, I like to be noticed as a brony. A few days ago, we went to the mall and I wanted to stop at two places, spencers and hot topic, I bought a Deroy tee from hot topic along with a DJ Pon3 sticker. The next thing I am probably going to get though will be online, because I want to get a belt.

Like I'm buying Pornography. That same dirty, unclean sense at any rate where I'm having to buy contraband items. It doesn't help that the Shopkeeper seems to be glaring at me for not picking a "real comic", I swear.

I got slightly less stick from Forbidden Planet, but I still felt rather dirty afterwards. I even had to keep making excuses for why a grown 20-something year old man was buying "little girls items".

Gotta be honest, I tend to use my little sister as an excuse. I normally write a list of what I want and use it as a prop in the shop when asking for what I want.

But most of the time, when buying stuff from the supermarket, I just use self service.

The only thing I'm usually worried about when buying my pony stuff is how much I've spent, not what anyone around me is thinking about what I'm buying.  Then again, I wouldn't notice if anyone did give me funny looks, with five younger siblings, I've managed to turn ignoring those around me into an art form.  laugh.png

I did get super excited when my Pinkie Pie shirt rang up $12 instead of the $20 I was expecting.  That was on top of getting my RD wallet for 1/2 price. :D

I just walk in and buy the pony merch with no shame. In fact, I feel the opposite of shame. I'm proud to be a part of the MLP fandom. It's a great show, and the fandom is absolutely amazing. Why would I be ashamed to purchase something that appeals to me so much? Besides, I think some bronies make too much of a big deal over buying MLP merch at a store. If you want to get some pony merch, just go in and buy it. I highly doubt the workers/people at the store will think anything of it.

Pretty normal. Then again I'm used to buying things that people my age might not always feel comfortable buying. Probably has to do with the fact that people have always mistaken my age for someone younger.

I was nervous when buying the Pinkie coin bank, but that's mostly because I was afraid it would get broken somehow before I could bring it home.

Doesn't bother me in the least, I do it so much now. I even buy EG dolls and don't care. It all has to do with the fact that o just don't care what others think. The stuff makes me happy and that's all that matters :)

Wow you guys have no fear! I just can't bring myself to do it. On the contrary to others, I care too much about what others think :/ I'm a 16 year old that looks about 10 years older than I actually am, which doesn't help matters. And despite there being a comic shop nearby with a fair bit of pony merch, I just haven't been able to go in and get something. The most I do is just look.

It seems to depend on where I am. For example, if I walk into Walmart and buy a pony toy, I usually don't feel nervous at all. I doubt the cashier gives a crap about what I'm buying. But if I'm in a store meant for children, like Toys R Us or Build-A-Bear, I suddenly feel very out of place amongst screaming toddlers. I've had terrible experiences in stores like these, especially the latter.

I tend to buy most stuff in person, mostly because I don't want to pay for shipping. I stopped being nervous about it after about a few times.  Okay, I've never completely stopped being nervous about it, since I mostly wait around for the pony aisle to clear out before picking out what I want, or at least try not to get in anyone else's way if they are in the aisle. I still have a tendency to walk away when someone else comes up and I'm looking through some of the toys, seeing if they have what I'm looking for.  Checkout has never been a problem, though. No one has ever said anything to me about it, and I don't really say anything to them, since odds are they're assuming it's a gift for a little girl.

Well, everyone except Build-a-Bear. I can't fault them for trying to be friendly and talk with the customer while they're stuffing the plush, but they always ask who it's for. It's not too hard to lie about it, but to have people ask you does kind of catch you off guard if you're not used to it.

One of the hardest things for me to do. I missed out on the Hot Topic exclusive Luna vinyl figure because I was too embarrassed to buy it and now i'm kicking myself for it :(

How would anyone know you're buying the merch for yourself? For all anyone knows, you could be getting it for a little girl's birthday. Just get the items and don't think about it.
