When you're feeling down, do you listen to sad or happy music?

Happy music is like that asshole "friend" who rubs how great his life is in your face after you got mugged on your way home after being fired from your job. Angry and sad music are more sympathetic friends who you can have a nice vent session with.

Coldplay's The Scientist is probably the best cry song ever.

"Tell me you love me, come back and haunt me..."

Combine with the music video for extra sadness potential. :(

I tend to list to battle themes from video games so, angry music I guess? Happy music doesn't usually do a lot for me when I'm in that kind of mood, whereas battle themes get me pumped and motivated to tackle whatever's dragging me down :3 I'll sometimes listen to sad music if someone I care about is upset though, but I'm not so sure it actually helps me out or anything x3;;

I usually have a song I like at the time that gets me feeling good again. For a while, it's been The Sound by The 1975, but I can never tell if that's a negative or a positive song, so you judge:

It depends, sometimes I try to cheer myself up by listening to happy music and other times I listen to sad music which makes me feel worse.

I listen to cheer-up music, which isn’t particularly happy OR sad. I like ‘Smile’ by Charlie Chaplin because it cheers me up, but still has a wistful sense to it. I have a lot of music for sad occasions, but most of it is happy I guess.
