I was thinking earlier that if this were the SERIES finale, I would be very satisfied with The Canterlot Wedding being the way they ended it. I was curious what others thought about it.

Last episode ever will be a CMC episode. They get their cutie marks and the camera slowly pans to show them. As the camera nears their cutie marks, camera cuts to black and credits roll.

As much as I would love more Ponies that finale was so spectacular that if for some reason they cannot continue (which would be silly seeing that season 3 is confirmed) at least it would've ended on a strong note!

 

I don't like series that go out on a wimper so it's be tough to go out on a bang bigger than this one!

I'd be saddened if this was actually the last episode (S3+more perhaps=Huzzah), but I do believe that they would have ended it with a bang. On the CMC topic, they would've gotten their cutie marks this episode if this was the last one.

Sure, these episodes were fantastic. But it's only got me thinking about how this show can push its boundaries of epicosity even further. So no, I wouldn't be completely happy, because I know the writers can pull something even better out of the bag.

I wouldn't be happy at all because I'm expecting the REAL finale to have all the bad ponies and creatures versus the good ponies and creatures.Maybe a large battle/war in the end which ends when the Mane 6 (with the help of everypony) go and defeat the leading villain just as he is about to take over the world.

As fantastic as the ending was, I would definitely not be satisfied.

Mainly because we would have been left with several questions.

 

Here is some examples:

Did the CMC ever get their cutie marks?

Did Queen Chrysalis ever return for revenge? (Considering she wasn't sealed off somewhere and just pushed off far away)

Did Spike ever win Rarity's heart?

 

There will be a Season 3 and I'm really looking forward to it.

It might be 5 months apart but I'll gladly wait for the best show I've ever seen.

Even if it was originally meant for children, both my inner child and mature side love it.

It would be an amazing episode for a series finale, but if it ended with just 2 seasons, I bet that would be way to early for most bronies.

In all seriousness, while a phenomenal finale, the series is nowhere near finished. Obviously it does not follow some intricate story arc but so many questions left unanswered.

After reading everyone's thoughts on the subject, I think perhaps I didn't explain myself thoroughly.

 

I agree that ending the show with season 2 would leave too many unanswered questions in the storyline(even if it didn't I wouldn't want it to end).

 

I was speaking solely about the two finale episodes themselves. I wasn't meaning to make it sound like I was saying if the series were to end now.

 

Let me try rephrasing the question: Do you think The Canterlot Wedding episodes would be a good send off for the series(assuming all the storyline questions had been answered)?

 

I'm not sure how to explain my thoughts any better, so I hope this helped some of you understand where I was coming from.
