Coming from an avid AJ fan, you shouldn't worry about it. She is a part of the mane 6, and she still plays a role in the show. and, not to mention, I'd be one of the first to email hasbro if i were to find out she was killed off  ^_^

Hey there :)

Since your topic talks about a specific character from the show and about peoples opinion about them, I have moved your topic to a more appropriate section, Show Discussion :)

Thank you, I got the categories mixed up ^_^

Though, being 100% serious, if I was an applejack fan, I would be scared for her fate in the next iteration of MLP. Hasbro doesn't seem to care for her that much given how little push she gets in either advertising or toys.

If it was up to hasbro to make a new series, I think they'd 100% dictate "Remove applejack and make a "hipper" more toyetic character"

Going to disagree there. Applejack has by far the least amount of growth of the mane six; one of her lessons that she wrote to celestia was "I didn't learn anything today! I was right all along!".

AJ has the least ambitions in life (already having a farm that she's working on and nothing beyond that), and little to no flaws that she needs to overcome, with stubbornness being about the only thing she has, and that very rarely runs her into trouble.

Not saying AJ is a bad character, but she is virtually the definition of "static character" XD

That time she said tht during the Cider episode.. funniest moment for me XD

Whilst everypony receives their share of criticism, what disappoints me most is AJ's occasional absence in the some of the toy lines.. In case you didn't know, AJ is my best pony :icwudt:

This is news to me, I always thought their was allot of love for AJ, especially since she's such a "loud" character.

AJ is defiantly at the top of my favourites. You've got to love that hard working nature, not to mention the southern accent  :D

This is quite a joke, not to worry about it, it spawned -I believe- when people went crazy about Derpy in one of her episodes. They forget what the episode was about, and loved derpy. So it spawned that.

The image is a joke, don't worry about it.

Lots of people love her, and if that wasn't the case. She's still in the mane 6 and carries an element of harmony.

You might know me as: NoSupport, ilovecats292, PinkiestPie.

Applejack has come a really long way for me. When I was watching through season 1 for the first time, I would've considered her my least favorite pony. She came across as crass and obnoxious, particularly in Look Before You Sleep.

However, after season 1, I eventually came to admire her for her honesty and generally caring nature. She came to grow on me as I quickly realized that if there was any of the mane six that I would put my trust in the most, it would undoubtedly be her.

And now, Applejack is far and away my favorite pony. I absolutely love her to pieces, and I would most certainly quit the show if she were ever written out.  :icwudt:

What hate? If anything she's the least hated character in the show, especially recently, and on these forums

That said, it's still annoying when she's left out of merch

It's not really hate that she's getting a lot of, it's more like casual indifference. She just doesn't appeal to a lot of people, and I think this is the reason why:

Applejack is like the Frank Grimes of MLP. Hard working, morally strong, competent underdog whose overcome so much adversity and always attempts to do what's right and set an example that everyone should follow... and yet she's still barely scraping by, and is shunned, looked down upon, and just flat out not given a crap about by most people.

Meanwhile all Derpy has to do is make her eyes go weird and crash into a wall or cause some kind of destruction, and everyone goes nuts for her and wants to see her to have entire episodes to herself.

Forget about learning anything from Applejack, let's just watch Derpy be clumsy, or watch Fluttershy scream at animals to lover her and then completely ruin a royal party, or Rainbow Dash blow up a factory(that was actually kind of hilarious), or Rarity force Sweetie Belle to carry hundreds of pounds of camping equipment, or Pinkie Pie harassing an elderly donkey until he agrees to be her friend, or Twilight incite a violent riot over a doll just so she could be the one to take credit for solving a problem that she caused and score some points with Celestia.

Basically, Entertainment value > strong moral values. I really believe that's how people tend to judge their favorite characters these days. They don't want to be inspired, they want to be entertained. Not all the time, obviously, but I think most of the times that's what people are looking for.

Hell, a character can be a completely unlikable jerk but if they can do it in a way that's extremely entertaining and humorous, they're very likely going to get a hell of a lot more love and attention than Saint Applejack over there. They tend to be more quotable too, I mean a lot of the most quoted lines from T.V shows and movies are insults, put-downs and threats. Some people question why Rainbow Dash is so popular due to being kind of a jerk a lot the time, and whenever I see someone say that, I point out that they pretty much answered their own question: People love her because she's a jerk, just like Homer Simpson, or Eric Cartman, or Bender, or Stewie Griffin or countless other fictional characters who are beloved because of how horrible they are.

Applejack just doesn't have the personality that was meant for popularity or fan favoritism, especially in this day and age. She's a necessary addition and I think she's fine for who she is (still my least favorite mane 6), but she doesn't have much going for her other than that. I guess there's the "dead parents" thing (which I don't know if that's been confirmed or not) which could probably get her some more sympathy, but then that may never end up being directly addressed in the show, so who knows?

Or maybe it's just that people really don't care for rednecks. *shrugs*

 i agree

Out of all 6 ponies she never received any character development. :mlp_huh:Twilight became a princess, Rarity opened a boutiques, Flutters build animal shelter. Rainbow went to the wonderbolts (finally) Pink horse, well I guess she didn't do anything herself either.

Did she want any more than what she had?

Personally, I thought she would be one of the ones most suitable for a romance arc, but they didn't want to do that with the Manes so her brother got it instead.

it's because she's country and a boring farmer which places value on tradition and family in an RL society that values individualism and despises the traditional ways and farm labour.

Don't get me wrong, I love Applejack. She was my favorite pony the first seasons because she is one of the smartest, the most "grownup" alongside Rarity, down to earth, conscientious, she's like the big sister and for a long time she was twilight's left hand and support, BUT, she started to get less and less of that and somewhere in the timeline the writers started to make her the butt of the joke with the apple thing. I feel like aside from some bits of shine here and there with the family theme they don't know how to write her and don't care for the most part because is about finding value on tradition. She's the one that sells the least in the toy aisle (also because her colors are way more dull or don't include pink on them), sometimes she doesn't even get a toy at all, and that contributes to the denigration of her character. Heck, I've even heard that they are going to significantly alter her for G5 so she's not country anymore and they are going to make her the stereotype of a "black" fashion woman to appeal to the demographic (it's rumors anyway but i can totally see that happening).  She became everything that doesn't appeal to anyone: hard working, a mother-like figure, boring, overly protective, likes tools and buy old stuff, she doesn't invest on fashion or looking better, practical (which in a sense is not bad but it was completely misguided), the only funny thing that they gave her is the apple talk on top of making her less and less intelligent and useful for the main cast and the overall story by making her stay out of the conflicts as much as possible (like what happened to rainbow but at least she's still useful).

she could have been the big sister everyone wishes they could have like they were pitching her at the start, but instead she started to become the complete opposite (who would like a sister that is constantly mad at you and that is overly protective to the point of being annoying, and that doesn't really explains why you should keep the family business alive and instead just expects you to get it through keep working). S2 was right on making her not learn much because she is one that can actually teach others and maybe get more into the family themes and her loss and recovery, responsibility themes,  instead of force their way into the traditional themes if they dislike them that much.

Same, but this never really disappeared to me. (And certainly she was looked down on as much then as she is now.)

If those rumors are true, then how about .

Oh wait...

I don't see a reason on changing at all. She is fine the way she is. No way of trying to make her appeal to the"hip" crowd. I mean the 1990s and mid-200s are over. While I admit Applejack (well the show as a whole did) declined for me in Season 5. I cant say no matter what. I mean it did almost cause me to lose love for her. That was also caused by some nothings in my life and bits of seeing people making jokes or just bad comments on Applejack.Still no matter I enjoy Applejack. I mean to me she is more than just a boring farm pony. If she was, she wouldn't care about anything that goes around her but her farm. Heck she wouldn't be a mane character if she was a boring farmer. I mean if anybody thinks she is a boring farm pony, fine. If you think she has dull design, fine. But if someone really wanted her dead...then how dare they!

*deep breath*

Okay it is just a show no need to get all worked up.

Applejack haters can go suck a...

Okay. *inhale exhale* I ain't gonna lose my temper over a show, but if you go hatin' on Applejack you got another thing coming for you. That's all I'm gonna say.

Applejack is the most underrated of the mane 6. She really deserves more love.

After nine seasons I wonder if their is anybody would give her more love....I mean she doesn't have to be everybody's favorite but can she at least be acknowledge for the way she is. Again her being mature then the rest make her more likeable then most of the Mane 6. Or at least that is the way I see it.

Well, I adore AJ (if it's not already obvious by my icon), she and RD are tied for my favorite ponies. I suppose she's not as "exciting" as some of the other ponies, but that's exactly why I like her, she's humble and mature and down to earth.

Yeah, AJ was one of my top Mane 6, but I think she was the one who got hit the hardest writing wise as time went on. I don’t mind a more simple and traditional character, but she displayed she was flexible and adaptable as well. Those where taken away as time went one and made her the most one dimensional ironically speaking  :sunny:. Hell, it’s bad when her human counterpart is more interesting
