general What's your opinion on Furries?

Considering I am a furry myself, I love them! Though I have met some pretty terrible/annoying ones. I don't let those encounters ruin my fun though. I just keep walking the path I want. :proud:

Well, I'm one myself but I know there are quite a few bad ones.

all of them are absolutely disgusting. every last one of them, especially my boyfriend.

That's rather harsh.

Unless you were joking, in which case I apologize.

If I'm calling my own boyfriend disgusting it's safe to assume it's a joke

I’m really not sure about them. I think it’s ok, like having an attraction to anime (not my thing, and I’m not a furry) but I know that is a thing.

One of my friends is a furry, and I sort of just entertained it since we're all into weird things anyway.

Then he gave me this book to read called Furry Nation and it has some interesting points like how people have been interested in anthropomorphic animals since forever (like the Egyptian gods and stuff.) So in the end maybe we're all furries lol

I'm a Furry. The Fandom's been a huge fucking mixed bag for me. I've found, seen and interacted with some of the biggest degenerates I've ever had the displeasure of knowing the existence of. On the other hand, I've also met a couple people here and there who I genuinely like whose moral compass, morals and ethics are at the right place, not to mention have a sense of god damn shame.

I can go into detail if anyone's interested, but that's the most basic.

You. I like you.

Been a fur for a decade myself. Not as into it as I used to be (one of the reasons I went for the pones) but I still enjoy it.

Im a semi-retired fur - trying to leave the fandom, but commissions and art keep bringing me back x.x

Ive just been drifting away from it, not been at a meet in years or a con, but I still chat with old friends and bump into furs at brony and local expos and cons.

The artwork is certainly the only thing I still do furry, but even thats declining. Ive not had many commissions this year that were furry. Ive not even really been driven to draw nsfw art for them - that usually brings a crowd, but i guess im too far under the radar to bring it back. oh well.

I own a fursuit, but shes retired unless i feel like bringing her back into the light. I cant sell her own as she's MY sona, not a generic snow leopard. Id hate to see someone else wearing her and owning her.

If anything im done with being squee and hyper, i cnat stand talking to the under 20 furs. Im just an old grumpy snep who likes being elusive and alone. I watch form teh shadows. This fandom certainly wears one down, ive been in it since 2005.

Geez. Calm your tits. No need to be so damn horny. I can smell your hornyness enthusiasm from here, mate. <3

Crap I've seen so far:

People who are advocating for pedophilia. People who are advocating for zoophilia. Did I mention people who are advocating for necrophilia? Sending me PM's asking if I'm interested in seeing them being fucked by their dog. Want to abolish rape laws. Fuck in public, while children watch. Send me PM's asking me if we're gonna hook up and play pet and master. And a whole fucking lot more. No moral or ethical compass at all. It's just.. Lets fuck. Literally anything. Laws can fuck off. I swear, if laws had a physical form, some of these people would want to fuck them too.

People who are advocating for political violence and having the sole right on deciding who have the right to speak their mind. Calling someone a neo-Nazi for supporting Trump. Calling someone a transphobe for not acknowledging a mental state as a different gender. Someone being called a transphobe for not wanting to accept the advances of a transtrender. Attempt to label anyone a racist for acknowledging the fact that races and cultures are different. Tell someone to fuck off because they are asked for citations on laws they claim to exist. Someone being called a sexist for acknowledging the facts that males and females are different and as such will make different choices. Someone being called an asshole because they don't cater to their feel good circlejerk echo chamber hugboxes. Get called an "Alt-Right rat-prick" member for giving actual advice when someone's having problems with family 'n shit instead of joining their fucking hugbox crap. Attempt to label someone a Holocaust-denier for liking how German uniforms looked in the 2nd World War.

And don't get me started on content creation and all the crap surrounding it. Art thieves. Art beggers. A forum I frequent have a lot of the same recurring assholes practically begging for art every god damn time. People who act like complete cunts when given free art. Entitled people sending PM's to artists demanding free shit. Demanding I pay for someone elses commission because I used a word on a forum thread somewhere they didn't like or other crap. Artists who act as if they are owed people to commission them. Closed species, and creators acting like complete cunts if you don't follow the "lore" of the species or use it in that setting.

And the list goes on. The amount of crap I see every day is just humorous as hell. Always something new. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Good shit I've seen so far:

People who don't act/react like a bunch of pussies the moment they are disagreed with on politics or just in general, really. People who don't get offended over petty crap, and look upon "hate speech" as a retarded term. People with an open-minded and broad sense of humor, and don't get offended when we do jokes and mockery constantly of each other. People I can disagree with and still call friends, despite our spats getting a little heated at times.

The fandom in general is charitable, friendly, open-minded and carefree, i.e, just wanna be left alone with our shit. Charities for good causes such as for example cancer research, the Furry fandom from what I see tend to get more donations on average than that of other fandoms. Oh, and cons, meets, etc, always seem to have this friendly, open and just carefree atmosphere about it. With the exception of Rainfurrest. That was a huge fucking shitshow like no other, almost as bad as Dashcon.

The artists I've commissioned and talked with so far are incredibly nice and friendly people. Their art is good, and always leave a positive impression, wanting me to return at a later date. There are a couple of artists I've commissioned 3+ times.

There's a lot more good stuff I see inside the fandom. This is also only the tip of the iceberg.

I am actually surprised I have not contributed to this thread as I tend to poke my head in on almost all of the Furry based threads. Mostly to offer a non-committal defense along the lines of, "I have no issue with them." On occasion I've taken issue with seeing fans of other media being labeled a Furry by Furries, though admittedly that is mostly because I see through the veil of the subconscious or designed motivation behind that invention rather than directly dispute the logic.

That all said, I casually pop into these threads mostly to read the views of others. I like to contrast and compare in a way that is similar to how I take a passing interest in psychology and Wicca threads. I also tend to be comfortable around Furry friends of mine. It's quite easy.

Early when dating my wife I dragged her to a Star Trek convention. I then did the same with Comic Book convention. She isn't a fan of either, but she took an interest in both because ... well she liked me and that's kinda what some people do. I dragged her along for years even after we got married. Finally, In 2002 she asked me one time to go to a Con she was interested in ... and was evasive about what it was at first. It was the inaugural Megaplex Con in Orlando. Girl I fell in love with was a Furry. Over the years I actually have interacted often with them (obviously).

So yes, I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. As a casual guy standing on the outside looking in, I found it pretty similar to most other communities. Pretty harmless. And quite frankly I kinda miss the shenanigans that evolved from Jess constantly trying to 'recruit' me. There was an inside joke about my interest with collecting specific characters in animation that would come up from time to time, particularly since it usually surrounded a particular animal species. Good times.

TL;DR Furries are perfectly fine, and in my experience they are fascinating.

I was a furry before I was even introduced to MLP, so... I find the fandom pretty rad. Barring a few cases of drama, they're really chill.

They do art, get together to have fun dancing contests and charity work. I actually was part of such an event once. I just wish I'd spent more time there, but I was doing a research traineeship.

Well I've seen people make degrading commentary about their partners (particularly boyfriends) unironically, so nope.

That doesn't change the fact that it's a safe assumption, especially considering the joking tone

And what kind of garbage relationships have you been looking at?

...I honestly didn't see any obvious joking tone, sorry. What seems quite clear to you, can well be difficult for others. I've found that out the hard way, when I was the subject of rumors on another forum.

As for the kind of relationships, I'm not sure what you mean? I can only assume one of the partners was manipulative, harassing or outright abusive, while the other stays in the relationship out of genuine care (or induced guilt).

Which is not the subject of this thread though, so I'd rather not continue.

All I'm saying is, it's best to be on the safe side and make it obvious you're sarcastic. Like in my case, I use all caps and lots of '!!!' to exaggerate (or use images) - as opposed to my usual, plain text replies.

I just wanna add I think bronies are pretty much furries in themself, so if you say you hate furries but are a brony that's kind of backwards to me.

That's just my opinion, though.

If you think about it, all those characters are animals that can talk and reason like humans (and occasionally get up to walk on two legs). Hell, we've seen biped races/species, both in the show (like dragons) and the movie (that town beyond the desert whose name I forgot), that essentially are anthro furries.
