Unfortunately, it didn't reach 6,000 shares. Give or take 100, about 2,500, IIRC. But the page decided to post it, anyway.

 

 

 

Can someone explain to me why Starlight's mane suddenly changed? Did something happen in the finale that I missed?

They didn't show how it was changed (and they might not, I don't know), but now that Starlight has been redeemed, it makes no sense for her to retain the same hairstyle. To change it (especially her bangs, which were in the shape of an equal sign) marks her development and status.

I can't really get behind Starlight's new hairstyle. 

 

Eh, I actually think it's cool. I think I'm gonna still be kinda used to her old hairstyle for a while, though.

Okay, after seeing the trailer, I'm surprisingly warming up to Starlight becoming a more regular character. I just hope it plays out well in the end if they actually make her one of the mains.

I will never understand why everyone wants to obsessively spoil things for themselves.  Why not just wait until the episode airs and just freaking watch it?

Just exposition about what's going on (going to see the baby), Obvious foreshadowing of "Shits fucked if the heart breaks", and Starlight being like "NOTICE ME! I'M GOING TO BE IMPORTANT TO THIS EPISODE".

I admit that I'm definitely predicting that the writers will give Starlight the Sunset Shimmer treatment in order to make her popular.

 

Expect Starlight to be continuously run into the ground (for starters, supposedly her attempt to reunite with Sunbust will end in failure), her actions being brought up negatively while she repeatedly states "B-b-b-but, that was the old me. That was the bad me. I'm totally good now!" She'll be treated poorly enough that we'll be compelled to feel sorry for her, and then finally, she will be the one to save the day, and will be given all the glory that will come with it, to include a new level of importance which will inevitably overshadow the mane five. 

 

If it works again, the majority of the fandom will love her by the end of premiere.

I disagree that the fandom will LOVE her though; Fans like to be surprised and people weren't expecting sunset's ascent to being the new mane character. It was unexpected.

Everyone and their mother can see starlight's character arc coming a mile away, and its being done in a very trite and obvious way. As such, people are most likely going to be pissed off and turned off at starlight due to it feeling Forced. Like a bad follow the leader attempt.

 

 

Plus, keep in mind that sunset, while very popular amongst Equestria girls fans, still isn't that hugely popular if you look at the MLP fandom as a whole and include those who dislike the EQG franchise. (compare sonata dusk who tends to be fairly well received even by those who dislike EQG and has popularity amongst both fandoms)

I'm loving what i'm seeing so far  ! I think the new look for Starlight really suits her. Her awkwardness around the mane cast is just downright adorkable (watch out Twi, you got some serious competition  ). 

 

Twilight calling Starlight her pupil immediately caught me attention. Ever since Twilight Time in S4, i've wanted her in a teaching role and i'm extremely excited to see the dynamic between teacher and student. Looks like we'll be needing a new Starlight icon soon .

I can concede that, yeah. Still, I can see them doing things differently just based on how the situation went down. Sunset was reformed because she was defeated. There was no possible way for her to win after she got beat in the first movie.

 

Starlight was in complete control of her situation. If she wanted to, she could have gotten what she wanted. Twilight herself admitted she couldn't have beaten her. Yeah, Twilight was the one to convince her, but in the end it was Starlight's choice not to follow through with her original decision.

 

It's not too much of a shift, but Starlight does have bit more of moral ground than Sunset did. In the end that's what I think will differentiate their story arcs a bit.

Apples and oranges.

1. Sunset was nervous around people in CHS because they hated her and had reason to. She was pure evil and needed the Elements of Harmony to completely swap her old personality in favor of a brainwashed version.
2. Starlight was only with the Mane Six, and she was nervous because she was heading into foreign territory and getting a friendship assignment without knowing what it what it was. Not to mention the fact that Starlight was convinced to change ways and chose to redeem herself.

But that's just an assumption. Sure it would make sense to put the blame on a previous persona, but that doesn't mean that's what Starlight is going to do. In fact, if she doesn't do that, then that really will show something different and not expected. So far, none of the reformations and consequences of reformations have been completely identical to another, so I have faith in how they'll pull this one off.

 

Also, if I recall correctly, Twilight shot the first offensive shot at Starlight. Not excusing Starlight's crystal-trapping beam, but Twilight was the first one to try and injure the other.

At this point my theory is that somepony is going to end up stealing, breaking or tampering with the Crystal Heart and causing the blizzard shown in the other trailers. Most likely Sunburst after a failed reunion with Starlight Glimmer and perhaps feelings of envy or one-upsmanship. I feel like it's pretty likely that Sunburst will be the antagonist in this story unless it's just all the result of an accident or something.

Well dude you are wrong there, Sunset is infinitely more popular than Sonata, Sonata is treated as more of a memeish thing than anything else, Sunset has a fanbase that's arguably bigger than Applejacks and maybe Pinkies. You really really greatly underestimate just how popular Sunset Shimmer is. In fact the hardest obstacle Starlight is gonna have to face to getting real popular isn't people expecting her plotline, thinking it's unoriginal or whatever but the fact that a massive portion of the fandom will think "I wish it was Sunset instead"

I am still somewhat concerned about how Starlight will be written after watching the preview but I'm more worried the baby might turn out to be like Poof from the Fairly Oddparents. I hope it won't be the case but I don't plan on getting salty until after I see that happen, if it does. I'm going into this cautiously optimistic but I'm still looking forward to the new episode.
