But what is your favorite Windows startup?

I grew up on Windows XP. i remember listening to that start-up noise almost everyday after school.

3.1 makes me laugh, it's like "tadah! I actually started!" But the victor for me would have to be windows 95. It carries a lot of nostalgia for me; the family computer ran 95 for a very long time, though I was the only one who really learned how to use it. Eventually we upgraded to an XP machine.

Windows XP most definitely. I grew up with Windows XP. I don't mind the newer ones (I LOVE Windows 10) but there's literally no sounds. I miss XP so much I downloaded the startup and shutdown sounds online and changed the USB connect/disconnect notification sounds to that of the XP startup/shutdown sounds.

There was also Longhorn, which of course was the codename for horror that was Vista.

It actually does, but it's the same one as Windows 8.1, which is very underwhelming.

I never used Windows 95, the first OS I remember using is Windows 98... I just really like how cool and retro this one sounds. I believe this was the first Windows OS to have a unique start up sound other than the TA-DA! sound effect. A very nice first impression if I do say so myself, the other startup sounds are OK but I just don't think they have the charm this one has.

Haven't seen much love for the Windows 2000/ME startup chime. Definitely my favorite Windows startup sound tbh.

I grew up on XP, but my favorite sounds have to be the ones from 2000 and Vista/7/8. The 2000 one is epic and the Vista one sounds light and optimistic.

 

Otherwise, I like the rest of XP's sound scheme. The error sounds are iconic.

Grew up on XP's starting sounds, but I heard the Windows 7 startup back in like, 2011 when I got MY first desktop PC. I owned one before that, but it was the family's computer. Great times back in 2010-2011 for me, I tell ya.

So I guess the Windows 7 start noise.

XP is... just.... man, it brings back memories. I remember this one time I accidentally left the speakers on maximum and I booted up my computer and... I think you can guess what happened after that. Its a bit sad really, when Microsoft announced that they were halting all updates and such on the OS but it had to be done at some point.

I guess mine's the Windows 7 startup sound since that was my first version of Windows that I used and I grew up with it.
