What are you thankful has changed about the world in time?

With how much attention is directed towards times when it seems the world is 'going downhill' or towards issues it's experiencing, sometimes it can be easy to lose sight of the many ways the world has improved through time, either through some issues being removed/lessened or new helpful things being created. What I'm curious about is, what kind of changes in your lifetime, or even changes from further back than that, are you very thankful have come about? :)

Me personally, the internet is probably one of the biggest things I'm immensely grateful exists nowadays; not only does it offer so much entertainment (so much so that I question how people got by without it in the past), it's also allowed me to interact with many lovely people, certainly more easily than I would be able to in person. I'm also very thankful we're at a point where we understand diseases and can oppose them so much better than in the past... reading about some of the horrible conditions that people had no answer to back then scares me, and while there are definitely conditions that we have much to learn about even today, I'd feel much safer with them now than if I had any even 100 years ago.

The two main things I am very grateful for in terms of advancements: The Internet and food. The Internet has been essential to my life over the past several years. It allows me to indulge in my own joys like video games by searching up things related to it and other interests, Youtube has given me endless amounts of content and it has allowed me to have a social life since offline, my social life doesn't exist. I also met my boyfriend on these forums and I am able to talk with him on Skype, regardless of distance. :)

Food is another one I think about often. Despite the US government having a vendetta against people in terms of food assistance, food is something that is easily obtainable in many places. Just go to the store and pick it up, no hassle. I often think of how friggin difficult it must have been even just 100 years ago and especially beyond that. Sure, the food industry has problems, but I still cannot deny that I am happy that it is at least east to get, no hunting down stuff for hours on end. I would not have been able to survive in older time.

The advancement in medicine is great, and the ever-evolving technology too:D

I like the variety of ways one can enjoy movies, besides forking out the money at the theater. VHS got things started, and that's what I consider one of the greatest inventions ever. From there it went to dvd and online sources as well of course. Now you can watch a movie anywhere at any time. I watch movies on the treadmill at the gym. That's just awesome. I've never been a huge fan of technology, but this is one area I can certainly embrace it!

I can certainly agree with this! As much as I don't always like the way the medical community works, I still have to acknowledge the advancements and innovations that have come so far over the years. I can't wait to see what breakthroughs they might make in years to come.

The technology that's able to carry and move huge amounts of data now. It's mind boggling how so far we've advanced in that alone. Its the age of information.

Tolerance, you don't get whites only swimming pools or stuff like that anymore or people being hanged for being gay. There's still more progress to be made towards equality but we're doing pretty well if you look at the history.

I'm also glad for the United Nations, we don't have to worry about so many wars or being invaded or being enslaved anymore because there is no more land grabbing or empire creation and each country/territory has it's own defined borders now.

Oh, I just read this. Yeah I feel ya. Mine turned out to be not due to acoustic trauma, and I'm pretty fine now, and I don't think it won't be coming back anytime soon since I have 100% hearing according to the tests. If you wanna talk about it, PM me.:D

If I'm going to be completely honest, I'm most grateful for there being prophets receiving revelation from God again, which wasn't happening for quite some time after the death of Christ's apostles. Yeah, it's religious, but I believe it. :P
