I bought the novel. Tempest Shadow gets reformed, but that's all I'm saying.

Sounds like she sees the error of her ways and helps the Mane Six defeat the Storm King, but the novel doesn't mention if she restores Celestia, Luna, and Cadance to flesh and blood, or Queen Novo does it with her pearl since Celestia did tell Luna before being petrified to seek out Queen Novo, indicating she might be able to reverse Tempest's spell on the Princesses if Tempest could not do it.

Wait a second, I thought Celestia and Luna got killed off for real?

Nope. Hasbro learned the hard way what happens when you do things like that in kids films based on beloved characters.

And what do you mean "Hasbro learned the hard what happens when you do things like that in kids film based on beloved characters"?!?!

That's the one thing I feared about the My Little Pony movie: That they will go around killing off fan favorites, even the princesses.  I guess Hasbro is still aware of the sting of that era when it came to killing off Optimus Prime(Undone thankfully in The Return of Optimus Prime)

And if I ever see Peter Cullen again, I would point out to him that I would rather see a scenario where Optimus is the Only Autobot to aid a group of organics against the Decepticons, and come out with his spark still intact.

What?!

Whatever made you think THAT?! they just got turned to stone, which seems to be the go to method (in both the comics and movie) for getting rid of them in a "Permanent if they're not rescued" way.

No one ever dies in MLP; the worst that happens is they get turned to stone and shattered. (Even sombra ended up being retconned to have survived)

Are you sure about that? Because I was considering that as one of the scenarios as well if Tempest does not petrify her when she willingly surrenders to Tempest to protect the rest of the Mane Six, if the images of Twilight being caged back in Canterlot from the junior novel is any indication of that.

It's an accurate basic description of the film's climax, yes.

I see that both r noes because I've only seen one poni get killed in the  show cuz it was twilight vs starlight and back in time then queen celestial got killed by the guy that teamed up with discord (he eats the magic and slaves crystal ponies yeah that guy he's also red)(in red dab adi dab a di) in that one episode and the best they'll become is crystal ponies agin for a few minutes cuz how many times has that happens?

It might happen in the 2017 movie actually...Just wait and see until you find out.

That's kinda taking back this topic because just wait and see could be none of that happens or all of it. I thought this would be a brainstorm and think what could happen but this changes everything.

Well I'll be dipped and boiled in molasses...I guess I figured it would be Twilight who restores her fellow Princesses back to flesh and blood since she's saved them so many times in the past with the likes of the Plunder Vines, Lord Tirek, and from those alternate futures caused by Starlight. I should've known Meghan would have used the same idea again for the movie with Twilight saving her fellow Princesses after the villain dealt with them early on.

Though I do wonder as to if this happens after Tempest repents, or once the Storm King is dealt with, since I know Twilight would not simply restore the other Princesses until it was safe to do so after getting the Staff of Sacanas from Storm King.

Alright, thanks. Perhaps I'll still hold off on getting the junior novel until after I see the movie proper to get the full details from that first before looking into the reading material next.

They defeat the storm king first, restore the princesses, and then Storm king pops up, does a final post climax attack so he can accidentally kill himself and be self disposing. Tempest repents pretty much immediately after being betrayed by the storm king and saved by twilight from falling

Sounds like Storm King will end up being a sore loser once he loses the Staff of Sacanas and all his work with taking over Canterlot is undone as the Princesses are restored and Equestria is liberated, so refusing to accept defeat and how Evil Cannot Comprehend Good, he will take one last, desperate gamble to reclaim victory from the jaws of defeat, and that will make him pay the ultimate price for it while Tempest asks for forgiveness for her betrayal in allying with the Storm King in the first place and is welcomed back to Equestria with open hooves.

Just went to Walmart a couple of hours ago and managed to skim through a copy of the novel.

Not spoiling the ending, but just want to note something about the beginning:

Thankfully, Tempest doesn't have Villain Sue powers when incapacitating Celestia, Luna, and Cadance; instead, she uses special "grenades" that turn people to stone -- courtesy of The Storm King.

And the only way to reverse the effects from the grenades is with the power of the Staff of Sacanas, give or take after the Princesses have had their magic transferred into it?

After reading the novelization book, I am totally pissed off.

Specifically, the Art book mentions that they were going to have some sort of really epic climax where the mane six power up into super forms with the staff and have a giant fight with the storm king but they changed it...

and the ACTUAL climax is storm king making a storm that sucks his staff away and then turning himself to stone with a bomb by accident.

Like... No fight. Just "Grab the staff!" and then storm king offs himself with a stone grenade.

Damnit.

I was hoping the picture book I'd seen had been leaving stuff out and there was something big and climatic after the "Mane six form a chain and grab the staff" thing, but no; that's literally IT. Its all there is to it. He sucks his own staff away with a storm, twilight grabs it, and the Storm king is LITERALLY useless without his staff.

I assumed the book are just leaving parts out just to avoid a major spoiler before the movie come out. If you noticed some book based on movie are slightly different to the movie and especially since its a junior novel. The authors wouldn't be that careless to write all the details in the novel before the movie come out. Normally a novel-movie usually come out after the movie. So i am surprise they already releases the mlp movie novel before the movie..
