general What's fall like?

I mean, you should of at least seen it in movies or the such. Anyways, it's pretty nice. Leaves are falling and changing colors, it gets cooler, and is overall just a pretty season. Cleaning up the leaves isn't the most fun though.

You know that smell when it have just rained and everything feels fresh and new? Combine it with the earthy odour of soil. There's nothing really like walking in the red and yellow painted forest during autumn and breath in cool, crispy air and that rich scent of fallen leaves and wet ground. :mlp_bedeyes:

Living only one state north of you, it certainly isn't perfect. A week ago they were predicting nice weather for this week with highs in the 60s and the low 70s. Sadly, now most of those days are forecasted to be in the mid to high 80s. *sigh* I suppose the future forecast was what autumn is supposed to be like, and the actual temperatures are the reality of what fall is where I live. (At least there is a day or two that will still be nice, the past several autumns have been hot every day at this time)

Typically once we get to November we get autumn weather and the trees start turning really pretty. But even that's not guaranteed anymore. In November of 2016 it was still hitting the mid 80s in the middle of November. It really ruined my mood.

My family moving to New England truly can not come fast enough.

I'm in the deep south and fall may officially be here, but the weather is still tropical. It usually starts cooling down some in mid October. The leaves are already turning and falling from the crepe myrtles. Not yet on the oak trees. I can't wait for the lower humidity!

We don't get much of a Fall here in Florida either, it really doesn't start cooling down until mid-October, like @Phosphor270 said. The leaves don't really change much here, they do on some trees though. But I do remember what it's like living up north during Fall. It's everything it's made out to be. Crisp, cool weather, shorter days, red, yellow, orange leaves that fall and become crunchy, apple cider, pumpkins, and HOODIES! :ticking: I haven't experienced it in years though. I truly miss the authentic Fall weather, which is one of the reasons why I plan on moving someplace farther north in the future.

Autumn is fairly cool and sometimes windy. The leaves and trees are very nice to look at.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

Where I live, we get a nice yellow leaved fall for about a week, and then there's a heavy frost that turns everything brown and dull for the next two months until the snow covers it up. :P

Would the best place to experience fall and four distinct seasons be the northeast?

I believe so. I've never actually been there in the fall, but I've heard that New England and Eastern Canada get some really beautiful colours in the autumn.

Looking at it in a meteorological sense, Fall is just a reverse spring. The trees leaves change color and fall, we go from the heat of the summer to the cold of winter, and the crops are harvested. We can also get some huge severe weather events this time of the year, examples being the November 2006 Iowa tornado outbreak and the November 17th, 2013 tornado outbreak.

Here in Charlotte, NC, fall is really nice. It's always nice and cool, with a gentle breeze blowing all the time. All the trees are different colors, and there's always the smell of autumn in the air. And if you live in a house that's surrounded by 20 trees, you've got about 400 bags of leaves waiting to be raked. (Thats me since I raked 200 bags last year)

Tell me this isn't the cutest thing you've seen all day?

In southern Ontario, rainy, windy, chilly. Some could argue you could sum it up as "miserable." I don't mind it one bit though; you can actually do something about the cold and dampness (more layers.) You can't really adapt as easily to overwhelming heat.

The northeast has all seasons, but the winters can be severe; lots of deep snow to shovel and drive through. They also have very humid summers. The northwest has a decent variety of conditions but their winters are comparatively mild and usually end by mid February. I live in Southern Cali now and it's pleasant, but if I were to pick the most balanced place I've been, I'd say Virginia is probably the closest, if memory serves.

Where I live, autumn tends to get really rainy and windy, same as spring but with trees changing colour.  There're some good days though, on those days it's great to walk around and enjoy the changing seasons.  Autumn tends to feel really short where I am, it probably lasts around two or 1.5 months here and then it starts to snow.  I live in South-western Ontario, Canada, by the way.

The leaves falling are very beautiful, and the ground is covered in them. It's a pain to clean up the leaves in your backyard, but at the same time it can also be fun when you rake them into piles. As for the weather where I'm at during the fall, it's usually quite nice not being too hot or cold.

It feels like summer for the first couple of weeks then a cold snap happens and makes it feel like winter. Welcome to Ohio.

Welcome to Sweden as well!

Nowadays, fall is basically late summer, and then maybe two weeks of pretty leaves if the storms haven't cleared them off the trees already. Then it is just puddles and gloomy, and cold! Booooo!
