general What would you do with a billion dollars?

Buyout a couple of intellectual properties owned by a certain toy company. Buy the Bronycon name. Do awesome stuff with acquired assets and run an epic charity while doing it.

If I had a billion dollars I'd be able to parlay it into several billion. Then I'd build a ridiculous pink storybook castle overlooking the LA basin, donate a sizable amount to Worldvision, Make-A-Wish and a few others, and help to fund private space exploration, medical research and creative endeavor from my own Utopian community, just to prove what can be done when real money clears the way.

If I've got any money left after all this, I's take a little vacation in French Polynesia. :mlp_proud:

I would buy books, Steam games and DLCs, merchandise from fandoms and other things, stuff for my family that I know that they would like, become a Patreon for some YouTube channels temporarily to see exclusive content, art commissions, and donate at least some to animal shelters and causes that I've always wanted to donate to. Maybe travel if I had a companion to go with and take charge. I would be so lost on my own. There's certain places I've always wanted to see, like the town Beach City from Steven Universe is based on, and just general locations, like Hawaii. Also, do some expensive stuff that I can never do, like shop in fancy areas and eat at fancy restaurants, as well as buy real jewelry.

A billion dollars? Hm, well my dreams would definitely come true first and that is to own a large house on lots of land and have a Lamborgini. The rest of the time would be spent on either family or anything that I seen and hey that looks cool to have :p I havent checked my Mega Millions lottery tickets yet and the drawing was yesterday....maybe im a winner xD heard the payout is around 970 million after taxes.

Actually, I have ambitions about someday becoming a wealthy games developer (I'm nowhere near there yet, but someday, I'd like to be), and I've actually figured out what I want to do if I ever reach the billion-mark...but it'll take some context to explain it:

The problem with the games development industry these days is that there are two kinds of companies:  the kind that keeps you around for a long time while paying you peanuts (basically Blizzard Entertainment is the only one in this category), and the kind that could fire you at the drop of a hat despite paying well for however long you stay.  I think a part of the reason why job security is so scarce in game development is because, when the market situation changes, the game you've been working on might no longer be a good idea or worth pursuing, and then your project gets cancelled, at which point the company you're working for has no use for you, and you get sacked.  That kind of instability makes it hard to raise a family; you need steady, reliable income for that.  So most games developers move out of the industry after about 5 years.

With that context in mind, here's what I'd like to do:  build a games company that can be ruthless with projects, but not with people.  Sure:  I could cancel (or indefinitely suspend) a project, but then I'd move the people who were working on that project to a different or new project.

The problem is:  it takes a lot of money to have a company that's big enough to be able to do that---I figure it'd be in the ballpark of a billion dollars.  But if I could make that happen, if I could create a company that could offer its employees a decent, stable paycheck, then the top talent in gaming would want to work for me.  And then, to compete for those employees, other games developers would have to reorganize themselves so they could also offer the stability that I'd be offering---it could change the industry if a company like that existed!

First off, I’d like to buy new components for a better pc...  Probably spend some of it getting stuff that I need off of my wishlists.

I’d like to also try getting my license and a car(nothing too fancy for a first car) and then go to college or this one private school I’ve been eyeing.

Would be best to visit my rez and help people fix up their houses.

Beyond that, I have no idea, that’s a mind-boggling amount.  Probably get all of my surgeries done that I want?  Just not all at once though, no doctor would agree to that and that sounds insane.

Realistically, a lot of it would go to taxes. After that, I'd set a good portion aside to help friends and family members in need. Whatever's left over, I'd donate to charity.

I would buy all of the My Little Pony merch and football jerseys that I want.

Such assets would be a great burden. But if such would come to my hand I'd consider carefully how to use it - mostly, however, for others good. I'll concentrate it into one or two areas with deep poverty or aftermath of natural disaster. I'll not straightly give all the money for poor people but to establish the society and stregnthen so it would start to take care of it's own people. Not thought how it would happen practically but that would be the plan.

Of course that way even billion dollars will be consumed quickly but it would make the world a bit fairer place

I'd like to try and develop third-world countries, honestly. There are people who don't have access to clean water, food, clothing or transportation. And they're so disconnected from the rest of the world that most people ignore them.

I'd try and put some of that towards them. Try and connect the world, y'know, that sort of thing. A connected world is a cooler world, and I like that kind of stuff. :P

(Plus I mean I'm doing fine without money so I I'll be fine...)

I’d donate most of it, but would keep enough for school (or otherwise, what’s 1300 times $130?), pay off my college debt, buy a modest car (who wouldn’t buy something pricier when they have so much though?), give some to my parents and siblings (probably $500,000 to my two siblings and also enough for my parents to retire, not sure how much would be enough). Not sure if I should give them more. I’d keep enough for a house too.

Oh, and probably would want to buy my own plane. Probably not a jet (those would be hard to maintain and would burn off that billion in no time).

Get rid of it immediately, probably give it to someone way more responsible. I'd end up spending all of it, rather than saving it.
I'd likely still request that a large portion of it go to charity, and another chunk go to indie developers.
