general media Your opinion of Netflix Originals: Good or bad overall?

You

Recommended Posts

Having watched some meanwhile, this label strike me rather negatively than positively meanwhile.

Note that netflix original can actually seemingly also refer to media that Netflix has the sole permission to stream and nobody else has.

Some stuff I watched.

Pro:

Castlevania - But even this was of varied quality and immaturely strong language.

Neutral:

The Seven Deadly Sins

Con:

The Defenders (without having watched any other series before of them)

The Wrong Missy

Ghost in the Shell ZAC 245 (or something) -> Like WTF: This looks like it was done with Steam Film Maker!?:confused::confused:

Are your experiences with it in line with mine? I mean, it would make sense given there is likely a lower budget when you are producing for one media provider only and with limited number of customers...

I watched The Wrong Missy with the girlfriend recently, seemed about on par for what David Spade does these days. Also watched one called Young Adult, basically a Lifetime movie but with alcoholism and wet dreams from a past life instead of murder. It has Patton Oswalt for anyone interested, lol. Overall, I find their originals to be enjoyably bad. That goes for Tiger King as well :ButtercupLaugh:

I've only watched one Netflix original series called The Dragon Prince, which is written by one of the people who worked on The Last Airbender

And I loved it. The Frame Rate Per Second was a little slow, so the animation at parts looked a bit off, but I loved the series overall

Carmen Sandiego (I'm waiting for Season 3)

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (finally a full screen adaptation of my childhood book series)

Mako's Mermaids (I love the suspense of the merpeople trying to hide their secret as well as the interactions of the characters)

These 3 are my favorite

A Dragon as big as his love for Disney and has his head in the clouds literally and figuratively

I barely ever watch Netflix originals, but they seem all right. Stranger Things is fun.

Have fun watching it. If it seems a little boring in season 2, don;t worry, Season 3 is a lot more exciting.

I need to watch Stranger Things

(edited)

I've watched two so far:

Narcos: the first and second season were just excellent! I enjoyed every second of it!

Spoilers:

Spoiler

After Pablo Escobar died in the second season it went down the hill, I couldn't watch it anymore.

The witcher: It was amazing as well! The combats were delightful! However, the timeline going back and forth is a bit annoying and can confuse people if they aren't smart enough.

From what I’ve heard 14 year olds are too young :yay:to be watching the Witcher lool, isn’t it extremely dark and features violence, nudity?

I don't watch or have Netflix, too much money for something that I probably won't use much. So that means that I don't have an opinion on Netflix originals.

Well, people here don't care about the age rating. :D

Seriously, my friends and I played outlast, the horror game, at a younger age. We even knew what porn was when we were ten.

I for one have never watched it lol, but don’t tell anyone. They’d think I’m a wuss.

I just watch the shows on random websites. No point in me buying Netflix for one or two shows

Just finished watching the Hollywood miniseries. My mom and I loved it. We both have a thing for golden age movies and it the job capturing the essence.

It also helped that Jim Parsons was in it. I don’t think you’ve lived until you’ve seen him swear.

I second Carmen Sandiego. I'd say it's better than the original!

Personally I'm fine with most of the originals, but it's the adaptations that really get to me

What is life? Is it nothing more than the endless search for a cutie mark? and what is a cutie mark but a constant reminder that we're all only one bugbear attack away from oblivion? And what of the poor hooman? Flank forever blank, destined to an existential swim down the river of life to...

an unknowable destiny?

  • A Series of Unfortunate Events
  • Legend Quest
  • Carole & Tuesday
  • Stranger Things (duh)

And yes, I am that ONE PERSON who enjoyed Insatiable.

Also, are we counting movies? Because there are some that  enjoy on there.

  • Sierra Burgess is a Loser
  • The Fundamentals of Caring
  • Like Father

I’ve really enjoyed Dead to Me and Hart of Dixie. I watch Heartland too but it hasn’t made any new seasons yet. I will say that I love all of these shows but since they’re all dramas they tend to add a bunch of random stuff in the later seasons.

Spoiler

Especially Hart of Dixie. They go from kinda sorta wanting to be a medical show to ditching the whole thing and shipping all the characters with each other. At this point, all the show cares about is crazy “out there” romance.

I've watch a lot of netflix originals now that i See : Narcos , Money Heist , Elite , Freud , Dark Mirror , Love death and robots and some netflix movies, but looking at the shows.Overall, the best ones are the above.

Dark Mirror : Just a masterpiece. Even if i some episodes were more interesting than others , the overall series follows greatly and with extreme creative its main idea of "what if technology... " and works great. Must watch

Narcos: Second best for me, as my parent is colombian and witnessed a lot of shit that happened in the show and a lot of things are historically innacurate (which i knew before watchig), the amount of drama / suspense it generates in one episode is right on spot, with all the action that you would expect. I ended up watching twice , one alone and one with my father, in original language as it should be. Season 3 is kind meh , and i haven't watched narcos mexico yet, but im looking forward to.

Money heist: With this , the hype for the 3rd season was just fucking unreal. Season 1 and 2 are really well written for my opinion : Right doses of action , betrayals and drama , sex/love , and brillaint moves from both the professor / the police. The 3rd season came and.... send everything to hell. Even if budget grew bigger , the quality got lost in the process , and Netflix decided to put over character's smashing each other and stupid action scenes than brillaint schemes. Season 4 tried to fix things a little bit, and even if it was , in my opinion, better than the 3rd, its not good
