general Luck

Do you consider yourself a lucky person? Do you have a lot of good luck or bad luck? Positive and negative vibes tend to generate or attract more positive or negative vibes. Can luck be affected by attitude? Do you believe in luck at all?

When it comes to small things like random loot in games, I'm very unlucky. But I'm pretty luck with things with big consequences

I think of luck as a some kind of probability measurement, not as an outer power

I think it has other aspects beyond basic probability because it can be affected by attitude. I used to live in Las Vegas and once spent the day getting all jazzed up with positive vibes with the specific goal of gauging its effect on gambling outcomes, and to my surprise it was very positive compared with other days when I was in a bad mood, tired or feeling less than positive. It's interesting to consider.

The definition of luck may be different for different people. Some consider themselves lucky if they win lotteries and gambles, others say "I'm lucky to live in a free country where I feel safe", etc. Personally I think the attitude plays a part in the perception of luck: some people take fortunate coincidences for granted, and when something bad happens, they blame "bad luck", others are able to see "good luck" in the most mundane events. I don't believe in "vibes" or luck as a metaphysical phenomenon, but I think perception of coincidences really can affect people in both good and bad ways.

Well I suppose I've had my fair share of lucky and unlucky moments, overall definitely a lucky person given I'm highly educated and have done very well for myself financially at a young age saying that though sounds like jinxing it. Yet an overall positive attitude to life generates a possitive experience in said life though in regards to unlucky experiences I'm a bit of clutz at times so there's that haha.

I am the Lucky pone, I bring forth luck to everyone I meet. :oneheckofahat:

No in all seriousness it depends on the situation but I don't necessarily believe in luck, or coincidences for that matter.  Everything happens for a reason is what I've always thought, could be more than just good/bad luck or coincidence.

I was gonna say that you’re Lucky Bolt.

You make your own luck. ^^

Hmm.

I'd say I'm the unluckiest of the luckiest. Like there's things I know others don't really have that I do, but I do always feel like I have bad karma (only the bad kind) and like things didn't have to be a certain way.

I'm not that lucky. In fact, I view myself as being cursed to have bad luck due to having had so many mishaps where luck is involved. I often wonder why I have to endure such things all the time.

pfft! luck can't be affected because otherwise it wouldn't be luck, it would be karma or justice. Luck is chance. and as such it don't care.

By that premise, I've had a good run as for now. I could be better but at least I'm not worse. I have good enough health, and I'm living. mentally I'm not as bad as it could be.

Now if we are getting into the sociopolitics of it, luck has little to do with one's situation and is more about just and unjust systems. In that regard I feel a bit trapped by the system into an unjust position, one could say "unfortunate". not as unjust as it could be but not just enough to ensure "fortune" in the future. I had an education, home, parents that let me live with them, but as lgbt i face discrimination and harassed in the street, I have a badly payed job that is not enough for the basics even with all my degrees, family problems that stem from the boomer attitude, the gov is terrible, i don't have health care, there's a high chance of getting your money and possessions including your life taken away from a fraud or criminal organization, and etc etc.

I feel like I have terrible luck, because every time I'm around stuff just seems to go wrong. Not to mix up with stuff going wrong due to my own stupidity (which happens plenty of times too), but it's just compounded with my being the physical embodiment of Murphy's Law.

Just for a quick example: was sitting in a guard truck out at a training event. An enemy helicopter approached, so I radioed it in and my buddy on the machine gun fired at it. His machine gun jammed. So I tried to get out of the vehicle, but one of the straps on my ballistic vest got stuck in the truck's door mechanism. So I shrugged off the vest and climbed out through the back seat. By that time the helicopter was gone.

I am lucky in the sense of what I have in my life and that the government shows mercy on me and helps me, I have a wonderful boyfriend and I have lots to enjoy. I am unlucky simply because of my poor mental health. Having hydrocephalus at such a young age didnt bode well for my mind and as a result I am a mental train wreck. That isnt entirely bad because it does give me some good personality traits, I'm just very limited in life.

I’d say I’ve felt most lucky when I was happier or in a more positive place in my life. This holds with my theory that positivity begets more positivity. I was very lucky when I was young (pre-teens to early teens), then it dropped in my late teens and picked up again once I was in my twenties. Pessimism never did me any favors when I was growing up and certainly didn’t affect luck or anything else in a positive way. Actually it would be more appropriate to call it positivity rather than luck because that makes more sense to me.

Absolutely! I can't put it better than this. There is being positive and being negative, and I think we have the ability to affect some things with free will and the right attitude, which I think that's also part of the plan.
