Looks like Microsoft announced a new Windows operating system this week that can be a more modern look from Windows 10, which what I'm using at latest right now. They announced Windows 11, and it's going to be released later this year! Also, Windows 11 is going to be a free upgrade for all Windows 10 users, which is fortunate to me that I'm interested more in advanced technology in the future!

When I looked on Windows 11 for the first time via leak images and videos, the start menu and taskbar icons are going to be at the bottom center, and the removal of Cortana. The open window applications will have rounded corners, well I prefer to have sharp corners. Microsoft Teams will be included this new operating system too, whilst I use Zoom for one of my class meetings. Also, Windows 11 will even support Android apps as well as what I looked on. Whilst I have BlueStacks on one of the newest laptops I've been using for over a year to support faster gaming with a faster frame rate, I have the My Little Pony mobile app on it since January this year when I decided to start playing it again.

At last, the Windows 11 shape icon have perpendicular corners that makes top and bottom edges parallel, comparing to Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 when the top and bottom edges were horizontally diagonal that makes it a trapezoid shape. I can't wait to see what Windows 11 unfolds! :D

About the only thing you could call me "excited" about is the android app support, that is if it's all and not just games. Otherwise:

It Looks like they took MacOS and windows 8 and bred them. Why is all I ask, just why?

I see they still think tablets and touch screens are the future...like they did with 8...and 8.1...and 10.

"Free upgrade" because that went so well with 10. $20 says it'll go exactly like 10.

More ms bs to me it appears.

Long story short, I've been very unimpressed with 10 and it looks like the same will go for 11, and probably 12 too. I'd like to sit and watch what happens from the sidelines before I make an actual decision on it but knowing Microsoft I'll end up on the front lines with 11, like I was with 10. Also long story short, my main PC is on 7 still...due to that fact that its stable and I can actually use it, compared to my other newer came with 10 PCs and laptops which have yet to see a stable version of 10. I want to like windows but... it's hard for me to.

Also I find it interesting how its 8th gen and up, along with the REQUIREMENT of a camera.

Support for android apps...if it's in the AMAZON store.

It's not exactly riveting, it just looks like a more 'modern' version of Windows 10.

It looks as if it could be a Win10 update, not a whole new OS.

Scary thing is, I might be the only one who will skip Windows 10, since I am still using Windows 7 for display adapter programming, to this day.

Not really that interested in Windows 11, unless it brings something revolutionary interesting.

Not interested. Microsoft is trying really ard to make me not like newer versions of Windows and I can say it's working. The only reason why I would have to use a new version of Windows is for new games - either the games not supporting Windows 7/8 or the games requiring a PC that does not support Windows 7/8. However, it looks like newer games can be run on Linux (Valve is making a compatibility layer), so I'll most likely just be able to run those games on Linux.

After being disappointed with Windows 8/8.1, I actually saw Windows 10 as a major improvement and my go to Windows OS after Windows 7. So, yeah, I'll probably upgrade to Windows 11 since it still has support for DirectX 12.

I think this looks nice. I'm surprised Windows hasn't jumped on Android app support in the past. I just hope that it's more stable than what Windows 10 started out as. Normally I would be fearful this would be the same confusing mess of a navigation panel that Windows 8 brought, that wasn't really streamlined until Windows 10. But actually the little I can see in that video shows me a navigation panel that looks very intuitive immediately. Of course this is just an announcement and everything in it is subject to change. I'll have to wait and see but this video makes me hopeful for a more refined version of Windows 10

I'm staying with Windows 10 for now, at least until companies start making computers with Windows 11 as their OS and Windows 11 itself has been updated numerous times. I want to be sure the major bugs and security issues have been dealt with and companies that develop computers trust Windows 11 enough to make it the OS of the computers they manufacture.

I'm also not going to upgrade to Windows 11 anytime soon after it's release because I see no need for it. I will get it though when Windows 10 begins to become obsolete.

Eh, newer operating systems don't excite me much. I was perfectly happy with Windows XP during its heyday. lol

It's nice to see Aero make a return tho. I remember it from Vista/7 and liked the aesthetic of it.

Kind of just feel "whatever" about it at the moment. These days I've found myself preferring Linux Mint for most of my OS needs and I mostly just use Windows for Toon Boom Harmony and some games at this point. Also apparently it can't run on first gen Ryzen CPUs so unless that changes before it's release I won't be able to install it anyway since I have a 1600 lol

So many stupid hardware restrictions that you might just retire your PC that you already running and buy a new one. Or just wait until 2025. Let's put the task bar in the middle, what do they think they are making Apple product? What's wrong with what we already have Windows 10? Android app support and tablet gimmick if people really want this stuff.

I'm quite happy that Win 11 is coming out. I've a fast computer that exceeds all the recommended requirements so win 11 will run nicely on my PC.

Quite frankly I don't give a rat's ass about it, and I'm really disappointed Microsoft is going for a new one when they claimed 10 would be "the last". Also those reqs for it are just pathetic.

While I'm somewhat interested to see what it brings, I don't really care. I don't complain on W10 and so far there's absolutely nothing shown in W11 that would make me hyped.

Once it's actually released and proven to be stable, that's when I may take a look at this.

Kind of an update on my behalf, but I gotta say - as someone testing Windows 11 as an Insider I can't really say I recommend upgrading at the moment. Not only are the minimum system requirements too high (I'm running a 1600/First Gen Ryzen and it's working pretty well, so I don't know why it's considered unsupported), and Microsoft in general is being unclear about the update cycle, but ultimately I don't really feel like Windows 11 provides enough of an improvement over 10 to really warrant upgrading, especially considering those high requirements.

I have a question for anyone that has installed Windows 11 without buying it:

Does it still work after like 30 days, or 90 days?

Does it include annoying advertising?

The reason I am asking is because I wonder if Microsoft went the Google way and changed how Windows 11 is distributed/licensed. If they went with the "It is free, kinda, now we spam advertisement and sell your your information instead" approach? Or if that is just a rumor?

I didn't experience any complications or advertisements so I think it should be fine. I've been recommended things like Spotify and TikTok when I go to the Start Menu but I'm not being urged to click on them if I don't want to.
