What are your long-term career goals?

For those of us who are attempting to focus their attention on long term careers and/or specialisation. What are you working towards? Where are you now and what is the next step in your plan?

For me I am trying to stride towards a position as a Business/Data analyst. Within the office environment I work in I've managed to work my way up into a place where it is relativley possible for me to move across into an entry level business analyst position. My current goal is to work on my discipline so I can commit to educating myself in the correct areas to be a potential candidate for this position.

I'd love to hear what everyone else might be working in this area, be you an Artist/Musician, Business/Medical Aspirant, athlete or anything in between :)

Working towards a career in graphic design right now. I'm studying, so ultimately my goal is to have some sort of career in that field after I've finished. I do have a job now, but that's only something I plan on doing short-term.

Graphic Design would be really cool! Do you know what type of clients you would primarily like to focus on?

Yeah, it's been a great experience so far! I'm not 100% sure on what my focus will be. I'm still at the stage where I'm trying to figure out all my strengths and weaknesses.

Government work and in particular international trade policy/analysis. My degree is in business administration and when I first started it I thought I had no desire for a career in government, but honestly I can’t see myself doing anything else at this point. Over the past year I’ve interned for the US government and in a few weeks I’ll start a position in the EU government (delegation office). So at this point I’m mostly interested in learning about the differences of working in domestic government vs. foreign government.

Eventually I could see myself as a Commercial Specialist at a US embassy abroad (basically help US businesses find partners in that country) but that would be years or decades down the road.

Best of luck to everyone with their goals! It’s exciting to have something to work towards :eager:

My long term goal is to relocate my business to Japan. Right now, I'm currently working towards getting everything I need ready for that and should be able to make the move in a couple of years time once I've done everything I need to do where I currently am.

Haha I don't have a general sense of direction, I'm extremely compassionate towards animals and really think there needs to be a sense of organization to combat the puppy and kitty breeding going on, the over abundant animal population is getting out of hand and we are left to trust corporate extremists like peta to take money out of their earnings to actually build a sanctuary and maintain upkeep for the animals and not just use this money to put them all to sleep .. they need some architectural blueprints s long with plans for long term rationing and an ability to estimate what the upkeep of these facilities will be in expense, not just, "we tried, we gave him a few months, had to save more animals... rip" Ugh

I want to "save the world from crime" and I do have a lot of double standards when it comes to suspect, but going down this path is a slippery slope to leftist authoritarian ideologies bc a lot of my ideas of how we can protect people overstep boundaries that shouldn't be crossed in the free world... I'm deductive and always skeptical, sometimes paranoia can get you into trouble, but often times suspicious intuitions lead you to revelations that are right before everyone's eyes but are just being ignored, I want to intervene, I'm a child at heart but this gives me child like faith, I want to take on these responsibilities but I know a lot of them would be soul crushing and wouldn't feel as heroic or fulfilling in doing them or get the respect or gratitude deserved for doing them, they are just things that need to be done

As I type this there are not only starving puppies and kittens trapped in a cage they can hardly move in laying in their own piss and shit, but there are children in people's basements that nobody has seen in years, almost old enough to be killed bc theyve almost lost their appeal to some sicko that's been using them and torturing them for years...

Like I said I don't want to "overstep" my boundaries, I'm very free speech, I'm very uncensored, all free market capitalism, but being more open minded and less clingy to privacy as a species would greatly help me accomplish my "goals"...

Sign.. not like I have a choice but it seems being a salesman is the only thing I good at… so I might as well tried to work my way up by at least trying to get a manager position and hopefully by the grace of “please for  god damn sake and for my sanity” give me that position. Then if so, I will try to aim higher than a manager position. But that is a big “if” I get the manager position. Other than that and back to reality, yeah I am just old stinkin salesman.

I’m also working at a Dental as a  serializer, but that’s only because I gonna have to look “good” for the family as they expected me to get a good descent career and made it seems like I’m making something out of my pathetic life.

I’m already doing what I want in terms of a career. It may not be fancy or impressive but it’s something I love. I work at Disneyland and even though I’m not doing the same dream job I did when I started a few years ago, I’m still in a place I love to be. As long as I have a life beyond work, I don’t have to be more ambitious than that. If you love what you do for a living, you’re not actually doing work at all.

I really don't know, but I just started a fresh career in the welding industry, so far that's the path i'm on. I really enjoy it.

Once the world settles a bit, once I have my driver's license and my family is in a stable monetary environment - I'm honestly tempted to go for the same as you are. Either welding, or perhaps something in the petroleum industry.

There's a predicted industrial boom coming within the next couple years, and welders will be right up with the first called in. It's a very good industry to get into, lots of opportunities and money involved. Something for everyone.

What types of things do you weld? Is it for Automotive, or pipelines, or what have you?

Right now I'm starting a job doing MIG and fluxcore welding on ship parts for the Navy, but I plan to get into welding on stock car frames for NASCAR soon. :BrightMacContent:

That sounds pretty interesting. Hopefully you make a lot of money doing so.
