The story behind Diamond Tiara?

Recommended Posts

I've got a theory, but it revolves around what her mother theoretically does. My theory is that her mother is some sort of designer (something like rarity) only she designs jewelry. Her mother encourage her to try her hooves at it, and after some messing up, she finally produced something with her mothers help, the tiara she wears. Thinking that this meant she was supposed to be just like her mother, she tried making other pieces of jewelry...with little to no success. Tiara's and crowns however, she was good at making. So in other words, the only thing she could reliably make were tiara's/crowns.

Its part of where I get the idea of why she hates blank flanks. While she's stuck with just one skill, blank flanks could have almost any special talent. This theory is also applied to Silver Spoon, with the only difference being that if it weren't for DT's influence, it wouldn't really bother her.

Oh, that's a really good theory. I heard another one where maybe she's good at pageants because when you win them, you get a crown much like Diamond's.

Now Diamond Tiara doesn't have too much of a backstory other than being a spoiled rich girl forced to go to public school with commoners.

But she eventually rises to to the role of Supreme Empress of Equestria and overthrows Celestia in the beginning of Season 5. She sends Equestria into a dark age and rules with an iron hoof. She is finally defeated in the Season Finale after the Mane 6 enlist Patricia "Trixie" Lulamoon into their group of friends and become the Mane 7th, Element of Showmanship.

Trixe then defeats Diamond Tiara and her army single handedly using all the Elements of Harmony on her own along with the H-Bomb.

...What? Trust me... its from a reliable source...

I think that she is like every other bully. They don't feel good about themselves so they put down others. She is probably really spoiled and gets everything she wants, but the parents don't give her the love that she wants. They try to fill out that with material objects instead. Tiara is really jealous on Apple Bloom and the others, especially Apple Bloom, who has so good caring families. Her way to deal with that is to pick down on them, make herself seem like better than them. She probably has a really hard time making friends also. The friends she has she got by bully others. Most of them are probably afraid that Tiara should bully them also.

I feel sorry for her, too bad that she has to bully the others though. I hope we will see an episode where the others make friends with Tiara, making her a much better pony!

Honestly, I think she's scared about other ponies bullying her, so she would bully them first.

It's not everyday you find some filly who is born in a rich family, has a tiara for her cutie mark (what the hell does that even mean?), and has the opportunities that very few other ponies has. And if the pony society was anything like the human society, then they would pick on her for being 'special'.

OR, she might be bullying because she was jealous.

Apple Bloom lives a loving, happy life with her family,

Sweetie Belle has a sister whose designer line reaches even the likes of Sapphire Shores,

and Scootaloo lives a carefree, no-worries-at-all life.

Then again, I might be over-analyzing, and she might just be nothing more than a stuck-up b*tch. Just sayin' ;)

This is basically my viewpoint. It probably doesn't help that with her being in a rich family, they probably have servants who are supposed to cater to her every whim (within reason obviously), especially when her parents aren't there.

I feel sorry for her, too bad that she has to bully the others though. I hope we will see an episode where the others make friends with Tiara, making her a much better pony!

If they ever actually do an episode meant to redeem DT and they show that the above and below is basically why she acts as she does, then that would be awesome. Of course, if they never reveal more about her, then we're left to wonder.

The bullying bit is something I think is true. It ties into my own theory that she was made fun of a lot at some sort of private school, which she later left and was placed in the ponyville school. Heck, considering how she acts during the Cutie Mark episode, I'd wager she was probably made fun of a lot for being a blank flank.

Personally i think diamond tiara bullies the cmc for a different reason that being maybe shes just jealous mostly because the cmc still have the potential to have a cutie mark that they can feel proud of while she cannot. When you think about diamond tiara the first thing that comes to mind is her cutie mark being a tiara and the fact that shes a stuck up b****, but what if her cutie mark reflected how stuck up and rude she is and often projects the jealousy onto the cmc because of their potential

We're having an upcoming episode where the CMC try to get featherweight to beat Diamond tiara in a competition for class president, but end up realizing that they're helping her.

Now, look at the episode "Appleloosa's most wanted", and the cutie mark theme for this season. In AMW the CMC helped a pony who had misinterpreted how to use his cutie mark. I think its going to come to light that the CMC's talent in life is helping others find out just HOW to use their cutie marks and also to discover them in the first place, with this being a theme for them in their episodes.

As such, I think it'll come to pass that Diamond tiara's Cutie mark is for leadership. But she misinterpreted it and what means in thinking that it means that her talent is being "superior" to others, which is why she's such a rich bitch. The CMC will realize that she's a great leader, talent wise, and will end up making Diamond Tiara realize that her acting superior to others and being a bitch is sabotaging herself and what she needs to be in life, and she'll end up trying to make a heel face turn and lead by empathizing with those under her as a leader and be much happier with herself and her life.

Basically, the CMC will semi-learn that their talent is helping others with their cutie marks, while diamond tiara will unlearn her mistake about what she's supposed to be in life.

I'm sorry I think it's Pipsqueak not Featherweight. But I don't think DT will redeem herself because of her cutie mark.

The story of Diamond Tiara is the story of a filly who's hollow inside; a pony gotten everything she wanted, and nothing she needed. Like (rational) discipline. Or a mother with an active presence. Or a father who has time to spend on her. Or any other family members who happen to pay attention to her (nopony came to her cutiecenera).Or, seemingly anything substantial at all; most of her time is spent using her wealth that she has to patch up the hole that the former's left behind, by filling her life with fake friends and false glamour.

Except when she's around Applebloom. Applebloom is the cold bucket of water to Diamond Tiara's fantasies; a pony who not only refuses to be cowed by DT's wealth, but actually stands up to her and wins, despite having none of the things DT was born with, or even a cutie mark. Which is why she hates her so much she'll go out of her way to cause her trouble; Applebloom forces DT to look past the outer wall she's built for herself, and to take a peek at who she truly is inside. And every time she does, she has to come to the realization she doesn't want to face; being born rich doesn't give you self-worth. Her life's as superficial inside as the crown on her head.

Welp. That almost hit the nail directly and perfectly on the head. The show seems to pin most of the problems on emotional abuse with DT being a decent character under the layers her mother had thrown onto her.

I can't believe the episode made me feel for DT and despite being proved irredeemable multiple times seems to have been able to secure a redemption of sorts. Long way to go though.

Welcome to the neighborhood! I brought you this pie to see if you're weird.

Children learn from what they grow up with. Diamond Tiara grew up with a mother who disrespects blank flanks and people who aren't rich. So,naturally, she was taught to be the same way. Whether, intentionally or not.

Or at least, that's my take on it.

It wasn't until I read this thread that I realized that Diamond Tiara's own mother was probably bullying her for being a blank flank before she got her cutie mark, since she was one of the last in her class to get her cutie mark. Oh my gosh... *starts to cry*

Being raised by two parents with two different personalities, Diamond Tiara had a huge struggle. Because her dad, Filthy Rich, was away from the house the majority of the time, she only had her mother. Sadly, her mother put Diamond in a delusion that she owned everything and that she should make people treat her like a princess, and have nothing to do with common ponies. Sadly, this took a toll on Diamond Tiara, as this led her to a dangerous path when she earned her cutie mark. The times after Diamond got her cutie mark, her mother was constantly on top of her, drilling in her head that she was superior and to make sure that others knew that. This led to several fiascos including the big one that nearly caused everypony to dump the CMCs. The final straw came when Silverspoon left Diamond because Diamond was all in her head. The eye opener came when Diamond saw how the efforts of the CMC, helping a friend (Pipsqueak) to become president of the school student government. That moment, Diamond realized she was subjected to the lies of her mother and told her straight. That was when she realized the true meaning of her cutie mark: to shine like a princess and be there for those in need, advocating for those who can't or don't know how.

Money and status took her down...now that Diamond is on the right path, perhaps she could now help her mom realize that her way of thinking is wrong.
