It honestly looks like she is doing more than sitting on the grass. Her forelegs are outstretched before her and her wings are fully opened.

It's a promotional image, so I highly doubt it's dropping any major hints about season three. If that were the case, we should expect the return of Night Mare Moon and Queen Chrysalis.

Believe what you shall, but it looks to me like she is flying over the road. The other possibilty is that she is sitting halfway over a cliff. The former, imho, makes a little more sense.

No. She is flying on the picture.

 

But I am sure this is not anything that was made as a hint for season 3. I think they just put her flying there because they wanted the most important characters to be shown and it would look weird if she sat forever alone on the grass far away.

I really wouldn't read too much into that its just a poster.

Maybe the person making the poster just thought, why not show Scoots flying for shits and giggles.

 

I mean they are showing Chrysalis, Nightmare Moon, and Trixie all in the same shot. That has little continuity too it since the three are very unlikely all to be in the same place at the same time.

 

Though Scoots flying has been an episode idea on my wish list, so if they decide to go with that I'll certainly be happy, but don't get your hopes up. Its just a poster.

There's a precedence for there being spoilerish stuff on promotional material. At last years comic-con, there was an image of Pipsqueak and another pony in a balloon in the background of the poster Hasbro made for MLP. So it IS a possibility.
