Male Ponies Shave?

In the episode Baby Cakes, I noticed that Mr. Cake had some stubble on his face in the hospital, but after the intro he appears clean shaven. To me, this seems to suggest that male ponies need to shave their faces, just like male humans do, which is weird because they're ponies. We've also seen Flam, who had a manestache.

Anyway, I thought this was interesting, and I wonder if all male ponies have to shave...

I have to agree with this. Without the ability to grasp objects, it would probably be very difficult to shave without magic. I'm thinking if anything, it would have to be a service done by unicorns.

Eeyup. We definitely see ponies with facial hair, so it figures that they must need to shave. Unless of course they're magical facial hair, like Spike's moustache? I'll say this, ponies with facial hair are much harder to draw. I was sketching my D&D group as ponies (because I was bored, I guess) and drawing the Dwarf ponified was way harder than the others

 

Anyway, we have pony spas, so why not pony barbers? Gives Snips something to do when he's older

I think it makes sense. Ponies have manes, which is fur over their coat. I presume their facial hair is part of their manes, coming from the same hair, and needs to be shaved. Also, since ponies are more humanlike than real life ponies and anthropomorphism, I figure they grow hairs and stubble that need to be shaved like an actual male human.

 

Personally, I like ponies with facial hairs.

In the episode 'Ponyville Confidential' Mr. Cake grew back those whiskers. Looks like having two twins who are a Pegasus and a unicorn does not give u a lot of time to shave.

My first reaction to seeing this thread.

 

 

How would a pony know when he needs to shave? It's kind of hard to distinguish a few hairs from your pelt.
