Ridiculous 2012 Mayan Prophecy Idea

I had a rediculous idea earlier today. Feel free to ignore this topic or just delete it, but I thought I might share my idea.

 

We all know that the Mayan calender ends on December 21, 2012. Mayans believed that the Earth had gone through several ages (4 I think), and another age will end on the winter solstace of 2012. Some believe this means a cataclism will happen, yet others believe it will be some great paradigm shift. Some believe it will be when we make first contact with alien life, and others think it will be when the rapture will happen.

 

Now here is my rediculous idea. What if we, the brony community, are the paradigm shift. I don't mean that the entire world will become bronies of course, but what if our ideas of friendship, love, and tolerance begins to spread? Maybe one reason we are so willing to like the show is because we long for a better world? Maybe modern people are ready to change society, and give love and tolerance a chance? The way I see it, us bronies start doing good in the community. Charities, random acts of kindness, and just general goodwill towards humanity. People start to take notice, and start helping others too. It becomes a snowball of pay-it-forwards and kindness. Humanity takes a step towards peace.

 

I know it is a rediculous idea, and hopelessly optomistic. I know that people will never lose their dark sides, and that kindness towards others can only go so far. But what if enough people are willing to be better?

 

Now please tear apart my idea as much as you can. I am not used to being optomistic.

First of all, for 2012, I believe it is the end of one cycle, and the beginning of another. The world doesn't end every time you get another bathroom calendar, now does it? Also, the Mayan calender was round, so even more so.

 

As for your overoptimistic hope, it sounds like you already know that it's impossible. And in case you didn't know, bronies have already been donating and helping communities (our Christmas drive) and there have been multiple donations in which certain brony communities have participated in.

Seriously though, I would love to hope that is the truth that our infectious kindness and tolerance spreads to more ponies faster. But the way I see it is it's just the end of a really long calendar and people over react to anything they can't explain.

 

It is a unique theory that I would love to believe will happen, but from the event of the Mayan calendar ending, I think it is just plain silly. But if something DOES happen, please let it be your theory!

If this comes true, then it is the greatest prophecy by mankind.

 

Even though there has been some scientific evidence that something could happen (excluding Nibiru theory and other superstitious crap) I think that it is just the end of a calendar cycle. I think people made a big deal out of it because the calendar cycle started so long ago that people misinterpret the date 2012.12.21.

 

According to some ancient text from a stone inscription some taken knowledge will be returned. However I don't know much about that.

Look, my phone ends in December 2099, so the world is clearly gonna end then too.

 

I wish this prophecy was true, it'd make me incredibly happy. Sadly, too many people are set int heir ways. Every time I read the news, there's a murder, rape, or something else going on. That's all I ever see, greed. If its not a corporation trying to get money off of you, its a random stranger trying to rob you.

 

Maybe if everyone watched and understood FiM, we'd be living in a different world. Oh well, at least there's a group of people that understand and appreciate each other (bronies).

I don't believe anything "scheduled" to happen during 2012 (ie end of the world, shift in something), but that doesn't mean we can't make change on our own. Continuing to spread love and friendship is the way to go

I personally don't believe anything will happen on December 21, 2012. It was either an estimation on how long each age of man is and a guess on when the current age will end, some sort of rare astrological event, or just when Quetzalcoatl is prophesied to return. Still, I wonder if society can change or not.

If you want something spectacular to happen don't wait around and hope the planets make it happen, because it isn't going to happen because the universe felt like doing it. And I don't think a bunch of nice people who enjoy helping others will cause a massive shift in the world's moral standing.

Most of the 2012 theories tend to be quite abrupt, sudden floods, fires, that sort of thing. If it were a change of mind set on a global scale could you really give it a date? Here's hoping.

Awesome idea! I think all bronies should take over after 2012, with friendship and world peace etc. Just one question... What happened to the Mayan? Did they end?
