How open are you about ponies?

Recommended Posts

I ask myself this question a lot, and I am never sure of the answer.  A lot of the time, if I am out in public, I will avoid openly displaying pony things that I have in my car.  I might cover up a pony comic book, or whatever I happen to have, when strangers walk by.

I only tell people if they ask because I can't really promote the show. I DON'T HAVE ANY MERCHANDISE!! I don't have any money and my mom won't buy me stuff like that, only food. But I totally would promote if I could.

I think I posted on here a while ago saying I was not open at all but I have changed. At the beginning of June I just had a change. I realized that I shouldn't be embarrassed for liking a certain thing. I know have a Pinkie Pie plushy on my floor and a MLP villains poster on my wall. I also have two t-shirts that I wear proudly and I hope to get a Luna hoodie for when winter comes around.

I'm already pretty secretive by nature so I don't go around declaring it, but I don't really like to stand out.  I won't deny it either if challenged though.  I feel I shouldn't have to make excuses for liking a show.  I don't owe anyone an explanation for why I like ponies.

I used to be very closed about it, but recently, I've bought a lot of pony merch. I don't shove it in people's faces, but I don't really worry about people knowing about it anymore. In fact, I love telling people about the show if they ask! And I turned my nephew into a brony! :yay:

  • 2 weeks later...

I used to be very closed, only people online knew, but slowly I started to tell my friends and "most" of them were fine with it. I'm even considering changing my profile pictures on social media to ponies. :P

I was basically a closet brony until my little brother bought me a brony wristband when he went to hot topic because he just kind of assumed I was a brony since I spend a fair amount of time on the internet. Since then pretty much everybody knows about it and It's just another thing on the list of things I use to irritate imbeciles :D

I wear my Pony Shirts just about all the time, unless I'm asked I'd probably scarcely mention it. My best-friend knows about it but he could care less, he claims he doesn't like the show but I saw him last night watching the MLP I was watching.

I'm not extremely open about it.  I mean I don't know anybody IRL to talk to it about (not saying yall aint real, I mean someone that I have met and can physically interact with), so there hasn't really been any need for me to talk about outside of the forum.  Most all my friends know, I can tell that it kinda bugs them, even though they say they don't care.

I'm totally open about it. I don't ram it down anypony's throat but I don't deny I'm a brony. To me it's just an interest like any other and I treat it no differently. I have Rainbow Dash along with Tali, the GoW squad, Johann from Hellboy, Cad Bane and portal turrets on my desk. I have the rainbow dash pet for my avatar on 360 and my notebook for uni is covered in MLP stickers. If anyone asks, I'll tell them I'm a brony and I'll talk about the show if they're interested.

To be fairly honest, its probably not a good thing, what I do.....

I'm secretive about everything

No one knows what I like unless its food.....

So no body knows I'm a brony unless you count random people on the internet who don't know my real name O.o

On a scale of one to ten how open are you about being a brony (1 being nopony knows 10 being everypony knows) I am at a 1 the most open I have ever been about being a brony was tagging a few vine videos 20 percent cooler and hoping no pony knew what that meant

"If you feel the need to treat me like garbage, I'll feel the need to throw you into the back of a compressing garbage truck."

"I'd rather "go to hell" for hugging a guy I like then makeout in heaven with a girl I don't."

10. Everyone knows because I've gotten past the phase of my life where I give the slightest shit as to what anyone thinks about me. At the end of the day, MLP:FiM is a TV show. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'd probably go with a 7.5, I wear all the stuff, put it up all around my room stuff like that.

I usually don't go around trying to convert people to bronyhood.

10, no questions asked. I have no reason to hide that I'm a brony. I mean, people already think I'm weird, so I just decided "Who gives a buck?!"

By this point everyone I know has found out I'm a brony.

@,

We actually already happened to have a thread for sharing how secretive or open we are about being a brony, so yours has been merged with the older one. Please be sure to use our search feature before creating threads in the future to ensure that you aren't making something that already exists.

One of the problems male Bronies (redundant much?) is the society problem. If a stranger sees me in a shirt with one of the main six on it they will come to conclusions on to who I am because I'm a grown man with a girly Pony Princess on his shirt. Now I'm not saying we can't be proud of liking something, but if your a person like me the stake of their future career is based on networking, I would want to make a good first impression. I do share the fact that I like ponies to my friends and family, being Bronies is only a small aspect of who we are, it doesn't need to define us.

I'm quite open about it, I think. I mean I'll bring it up every now and again and if someones asks I'll tell them.

I get a few funny looks, but hey I don't care

But just suppose that we actually wanted being a "My Little Pony" enthusiast to define us. That would be okay too - wouldn't it?

I'm pretty open, although there are times where I do realize it is a kids show :/

It doesn't really matter though because its so well done.

I don't bring MLP up unless someone else does first, or it would be a perfect time to reference it. I mean, I'd wear a T-shirt if I had one, but that's about as far as I'd go. I respect that not everyone cares or wants to hear about ponies.

Indeed.

I'm about a 5/10. My friends know I like MLP but only because they asked if I knew about it. They seemed disgusted about the whole "brony" fandom and were like "You know about this crap?" and I told them "Yeah, I watch it and like it." and they didn't really seem to care and seemed to accept it when they realized that not everyone acted like what the media made them out to be.

Doesn't bother me really, and over time they brony is just a title to me since I consider myself a fan. I don't shove MLP into conversations or feel the need to bring it up unless it is relevant. I prefer to give the people a good impression of the fandom by carrying myself with some dignity and sanity.
