I've been thinking about Putting a Hackentosh partition on my laptop since I want to start making music and I took an Electronic Music class last semester and we used Garage band.

Also Free MS office is nice.

If I do I will be both Mac and Windows, But more leaning towards Windows.

Right now I have a Mac, but you know, I feel that I want a PC, well actually it's the family computer, I have a PC in my room but it's pretty much crap, I'm wondering if it's better to buy a PC right from the store already made, or building it yourself? hmm, I'm not that great with computers to be honest.

Windows all the way. Mac is just too expensive plus it doesn't support that many games, let alone those games I actually play. Only used Linux at school and I was not that impressed.

Most of the time It's WAY better to build one your self. Since you do have a computer now I would recommend looking up how to build it alot so you don't screw it up. I'm talking like for hours, Weeks before you start. and I would also have the video's up during the process too. But after all that It's worth it cause you can build a awesome computer for less money that it would take to buy it Retail.

^Great site for parts.

Also it would be a good Idea if you know someone who has built a computer to help you.

Getting a built one saves you time and can earn you some extra warranty duration. But there's a strange pleasure in playing around with the components and the screwdriver. A good opportunity to learn a thing or two about this technology as well. Knowledge is invaluable when it comes to computers, buys you time and makes you free :)

I actually have a friend who said he is going to create a commercial operating system ("Blue Phoenix" I think is what he was going to call it). I hope he goes through with it, because I'm fed up with Microsoft's systems. I also don't like the way they're going with Windows 8.

So, you'd better start learning the magic of CLI like # rm -rf /* , you're gonna need it

Protip to all who want to experiment with Linux: don't type the above command in a terminal. You're gonna have a bad time.

You naughty boy.

I much prefer Windows, but I am comfortable with Linux, and can perform simple tasks in the terminal. It's good to be fluent with multiple operating systems. However, I have zero experience with OS X, and I'm not keen on learning it any time soon.

Windows. It's what I am used to have on a computer and I don't really like the mac os. There aren't much games for it either.

OS X is Unix-like (essentially BSD), so most of what you know for Linux will apply to the terminal in a Macintosh. Using the GUI is a different matter.

I've wanted to try OS X for a long time but never have had much opportunity. Someday soon I'll have to get a copy and put it in a VM or build a cheap computer for it.

I use Windows, purely because it's what I've used my whole life, plus I hear it's best for gaming anyway.

Though I hear, as a programmer, Linux is probably the way to go for work purposes.

Ah, that's interesting, I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing!

I use Fedora 17 at the moment, after switching from openSUSE KDE 12.1. I found Fedora's Gnome to be much more visually pleasing, and there are some apps that I needed, that were Gnome only.

Mac's are bad. I shiggidy diggidy, guise.

At home: I only use Windows 7, and I really love it as it's very fast, stable, reliable, etc. However, after trying the preview releases of Windows 8, I've been very tempted to switch to Mac OS instead.

At work: Both of my computers run Windows 7 as well. I also maintain about 750 computers running Windows 7, about 250 running Windows XP, and maybe 50 running Mac OS X (mostly 10.5 and 10.6). Server side, most of my servers are now running Windows 2008R2, but I still have a handful of servers running Windows 2003R2, plus two Debian Linux servers (both of which are soon to be retired).

Windows 97

Do you mean Windows 98?

In that case how does ANYTHING run on your PC? That OS is so outdated that nothing new should run. Let alone run well.

Really? That's... intriguing, actually, now I wish I had a junk computer I don't care about to run some tests on. I'd love to find out why they work and see what else I could get working.

Civilization 5 on Window 98, THAT would be a sight to see.

i use microsoft

but i do love mac (i just like to afford a doctor afterwards) jk

but i honestly don't care for linux, and no software is compatible, the only thing i would use it for is a test phase of software developement to make sure it works on all OS's just like if you do web developement you test it on fire fox, chrome, internet explorer, opera, safari, navigator. the whole nine yards :P but i just kinda rambled for some reason anyways...

How in the hell did you get Diablo III to work on Windows 98? Not even bringing how the game would run into consideration, it should've stopped you in the beginning of the install process from ever running it at all.

You sure it isn't XP, Vista or 7? WIndows 2000, maybe I could see that working, but 98? Sense it does not make.

I have a Mac because my Parents wont let me buy a PC

I Love PC Gaming it has made me Stop Using my Xbox

So Honestly I prefer PC or Mac Even Though Macs are Pretty Nice

I just wish to make my own gaming computer in the Future

Why would they not let you buy a PC? A mac is 4 times more expensive and not as good. What is up with your parents?
