i find this odd. when i was at wal-mart try not to be seen, i went to the pony section and i overherd young target audience girls saying how the toys are nothing like the show and how the canterlot wedding was not that peaceful. so if the target audience dosnt like the toys why don't they fix them

Because if they did decide to make it accurate to that episode, then parents would complain that it's to "boyish" to sell in the girls department, so I guess that's why.

Th toys are not suppose to be show accurate. The toys are meant for girls who likes fashion and styles.

They are suppose to dress and style the ponies, not look at them because they are show accurate.

Because it takes a lot more investment to make toys that are show accurate and shareholders wouldn't tolerate any kind of unnecessary risk taking.

Why make quality stuff when people already buy turd at top price?

I can see it both ways.

Girl tend to dream of that "big day" and want even play pretend weddings to go perfectly.

However, I agree that the sets should be somewhat accurate.

Perhaps they could keep the fluffy wedding set as it is, but have a set that has the changelings and other misadventures that happened at the wedding?

As a girl, thats just my two cents. :P

The problem here is that they're toys. It's because toys are meant for playing with by whatever target audience. However if it was show accurate and more detailed it would be a collector's item, and not a toy. (I'm pretty sure of this as I'm a collector myself). If things are designed to be accurate to the idea (this goes for not just MLP but for everything) down to every last detail, then it's not really meant for playing with because it limits creativity.

I'm sorry if I overthought about it.

The toys were made for their target audience, not the periphery demographic. The show deviated from that when Lauren Faust decided to try her damndest to make the show applicible to all audiences, but the toy lines were ultimately intended for little girls from the outset.

I suppose they believe they'll make more money by having toys geared for little girls and different items geared towards bronies (like the stuff at Hot Topic and some brony stuff at Toys R. Us) instead of making all the merchandise applicible towards everyone.

Why does a TV show air if a couple of people don't enjoy it?

The My Little Pony toys are marketed for little girls who like fashion designing, hair styling, etc etc. If a couple of girls don't like it, it doesn't speak for everyone. A lot of girls love both the show and the toys, so why ruin it for them?

After watching that commercial I just realized how weird it is that I like something that is marketed towards little girls...ah well who gives a crap

As bronies, we're over that by now. Everybody like's weird things, just some people can't handle that.

I've never heard any of the girls complain about the toys not being 'show accurate'

that's more what the bronies say.

Little girls love pink, weddings and ponies;

so they're good with it.

If Hasbro's toy division catered to the Bronies' ideas of "cool" MLP toys then the target demographic (little girls) would most likely be not interested in the product itself. If it makes you profit then you shouldn't fix it just so fans can be happy with you.

They could just make a new division that makes show quality toys for bronies or let the china government make the brony toys in exchange for royalties.

Since it's mostly little girls who buy the toys, it makes sense to advertise to them. I swear every little girl asks for a pony for their birthday and then their parents get them a cheap plastic one. So yea.

That sounds like too much money to be invested for a niche market. I know that bronies are abundant, but if many of them are already buying the toys, then why bother making a separate division? Where would they sell these toys?

Besides, Enterplay could be considered that "brony division" anyways, what with their trading cards and posters appealing more to bronies and all.

I could easily find cheap labor to mass produce show quality toys, sculptures, plushies, etc.The toys would be sold at Wal Mart and such of course.

They only require huge capital if you're doing in first world countries under strict labor laws but I think I can find lots of ways to profit if all I have to do is feed the workers rice and water and they have to live in the factory.
