Rainbow Dash driving unfinished

My unfinished version of Rainbow Dash driving my 2006 Pontiac GTO 6.0 Liter LS2 V8 with a six speed manual transmission made with the wonderful Microsoft Paint which I have come to be quite good with.

 

Considering the height of Rainbow Dash, I had to give her some sticks to press down the pedals with. 

In the drawing, Rainbow Dash is currently easing off the gas pedal and pushing in the clutch while shifting into fourth gear. 

 

I plan to touch this drawing up and color it soon.

As usual, opinions, suggestions and anything else are always welcome.

I do intend on adding something outside the windows. It may be another car, scenery or something else depending on how the general image turns out when it is completed. At the moment, as you can see the image is very empty and lacking in depth, I plan to fix that as I continue with this one.

I figured the size of the vehicle compared to Rainbow Dash was about right considering there are ponies larger than her which would mean if Rainbow Dash was taller, she'd basically have to be bigger to fit the proportions of her own body. Thus ponies larger than Rainbow Dash on the show would not be able to fit in the vehicle comfortably.

In reality, she'd probably need a booster seat to sit on, but if something like that was added in the picture, her legs would be almost touching the bottom of the steering wheel if she were drawn in a motion as I did above. As it stands, I had to give her some pedal extenders for her legs in order to push in the clutch, brake & gas pedals.

 

...And for the wings, well, simply I didn't exactly know how to put them on her due to the adverse angle she is on, and how the seat wraps around her body. So, basically I just procrastinated on the wings part for now until I can figure out how to stick them on her without the picture looking weirder (I say weirder because usually ponies cannot drive vehicles)

I guess because the picture isn't coloured yet I didn't pay much attention to detail. But don't worry I'm sure you'll get them on her someway or another.

It looks pretty awesome man Neither I did realise that her wings are missing - I'm not sure about how would she look with her wings... I guess you'll have to figure it out yourself.

Also, I was a little bit surprised to see Dash using safety belts xD

Wow, lots of details there, it's pretty obvious you love cars. RD's eye looks very uncanny without those gloss marks, you need to add those so she doesn't look creepy, and of course there's the wings. Other than that this drawing is awesome, it makes me want to draw Dash with her shades, driving a Ferrari...

This is such a unique concept! It suits her down to a tee, wonderfully clean lines too. The angle is great too, adds a very good depth to the overall piece.

One way add her wings in could be something like just pokeing out of the back of the seat as if there were slots in the seat to acomadate wings for Peg ponies.

 

But yes, nice start there for your picture.

Looks like it's coming along quite nicely!  Love the details in the car itself, really gives a sense of realism that makes one think that this is something that RD could realistically be doing.  Can't wait to see the colored version!!!

I would also like to say the level of detail you've put into the car is of a higher standard than I've seen in some published graphic novels, around how long did it take you?

I have had quite the history with good ol' MS Paint. When I was bored in school, I'd always open MS Paint on the tablet PC's my school gave us and draw up some cars or something. Eventually, after many countless hours of perfecting and detailing each vehicle it became very tedious, and I quit for a while. Just recently in the past couple years, I found myself doing more graphic design work and other things of the sort with MS Paint, Gimp, & Paint.net; & when Ponies came along, I couldn't resist to incorporate them into my skill level. A eye for detail can take you a long way in many fields of expertise, I tend to take advantage of it when I can.

 

I appreciate your comment! I am honored to have so many folks look at my artwork; and to answer your question on the time, I'd say this one took me about four or five hours (12:30am to around 5am) which is the usual for projects of this standard.

and in paint too? all the more impressive

meh, some overlapping lines here and there, and the lack of variation in line thickness.  but those can be remedied in the colouring phase. cant wait to see how you do that.

Yes, my username was inspired by Dale Earnhardt Sr, my favorite NASCAR driver. It's a shame he ain't around to this day, but his name lives on along with the iconic number 3.

 

Thank you for your interest in my picture, I actually just updated the post picture to my current status on completing it considering this topic has gotten much more popular over the last few days.

Everyone seems to be amazed by the fact I did this on MS Paint, and to me, I'm like "well it's just simply done" but like I said in one of my replies earlier, it's because I have been using it for quite some time. I used to work a ton with the Windows XP Microsoft Paint and I prefer it over the Windows 7 Microsoft Paint in every way but the zoom feature which makes more sense on the Windows 7 version.

I updated the picture to my current status on it considering the topic has been getting much attention lately. I'm glad to see people have taken a interest in this considering it is a pony driving a car most people have not heard of. 

I can do just about anything someone with Photoshop could do with MS Paint, Paint.net & GIMP. I do have Photoshop but I do not prefer it for any of my work since I am already skilled in the other programs.

 

The only feedback/suggestion that I can give you is that you have to set a deadline for this artwork, because I can't wait to see it finished! <3

I usually dread coloring anything, but just testing out colors on this particular drawing made it much more enjoyable for myself. I updated the picture to show some progress on it since the topic has gotten much more attention.

When it comes to cars & ponies, (along with some other weird things I manage to draw) I can draw them up just fine, but humans are not my thing, can't seem to figure drawing people to well. 

 

I updated the picture which shows my current progress on the image, as you can see I gave all the lines depth and added much needed detail. The only step now on this one is to color it.

I still have no idea what to do about her wings, even if I did put slots in the seats, you wouldn't see them from the angle the picture is drawn from. Unfortunately for Rainbow Dash, I don't think this picture will look too good with her wings sticking out ever which way from the side of the seat.
