People who easily get offended

Motion Spark

Oh boy. I've got to admit that I really don't see the humor in these kinds of things. It's amusing I guess, but I don't find it hilarious...the artwork is fine (no problems there), I just don't get why it's so funny. That being said, I probably wouldn't have dropped a comment like what the OP found, but this pretty much sums up my thoughts whenever I see an image like that:

Because the 9 ponies are gang raping 1

I think that there are going to be a lot of offended feminists here very soon who will demand this thread to be closed.

ohhhh!!! still I don't see how it's that funny...I doesn't even feel like a joke :/

if "feminists" like you call them demand to close this thread, then the same thing that I wanted to discuss here would happen "people who easily gets offended"

I'm not saying I like the joke only thats its the only one I've ever heard. But yah, I thought about it very carefully before posting and if anyone does take offense I am sorry, it was meant as an example not for the humour.

To be fair: I don't think it all has to do with people being "offended". Yes, we're all mature people here and yes, we're all old enough to understand the jokes. I suspect that it's more of what's appropriate and what's not appropriate for a fandom that's focused on a TV show for 7 year old girls.

And if I could go out on a limb here: the "rape" jokes are only funny until you've met someone who has gone through such an experience. Sure, people can sit around and laugh all they want (I'll admit that even I've laughed aloud at some of them here and there), but in all reality, I've met people who have gone through some traumatic experiences, and should one of them even accidentally see something like the word "rape" (no matter where they see it, whether it be on an image macro or in a newspaper), it would be a painful reminder of what happened to them in the past.

(sigh) Don't worry Sparky. You actually handed that excellently! Sometimes it's either a troll or whatever but sometimes people DO need to see if it's a joke or not regardless of everything else. It is true sometimes people received a SERIOUSLY bad trauma with that, in which case I would completely understand.

This. But it's also true that sometimes people can learn to recognize the difference with it.

You can take it from someone who's been in that position.

Yes, you handled this almost like I would. except i would say "fuck off, this is my artwork". People who are that sensitive about things kind of flare my anger. People like that seem to ruin everything  They complain about something harmless and get a lot of others to complain and get the harmless thing taken down or turned into something more aggressive.  For example, the derpy case, some sensitive people complained that the show was making fun of disabled people when it clearly wasn't and they complained so much they took something harmless and made it evil and got it taken down. These people ruin everything that's fun and harmless. no offence

"It's now very common to hear people say 'im rather offended by that'. As if that gives them certain rights; its actually nothing more... its simply a whine. It's no more than a whine. 'I find that offensive', It has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'i am offended by that'; Well.... so fucking what"

what do with these people. Especially if you put your work out there for everyone to see(call it art, music, literature). This happened to me on my deviantART with this artwork:

Don't even give them the time of day darling.

On the farm we have a saying;

arguing with an idiot is like wrestling with a pig. Both of you get dirty, but only one of you likes it.

Of course you could always mock them sarcastically if you need to reply.

Ie. Yes, I clearly consent to all real life acts of rape. I'm glad you could catch the hidden meaning from this picture.

I know several people who can still appreciate humor despite bad experiences. My mom is dead, but I can still laugh at 'dead mom' jokes. The joke isn't directed to me, it wasn't created to hurt me or anyone personally. It might be in bad taste though, but that's life.

Shows like Family Guy and the Simpsons do this. They are able to make 'risky' jokes, but its not directed at anyone specifically.

Where I draw the line is when the joke becomes bullying and aimed to hurt someone specifically. When I was in elementary school a boy said to me, "I bet your mom killed herself after having you as a kid." And then other kids laughed. Now that is not funny, it's bullying. There is a difference.

A feminist wants equality between men and women. So I don't see why a feminist would be upset about this thread.

However I can see some easily offended people doing that.

I'm not arguing that - that's not all too uncommon. I was merely pointing out why someone "might" be upset with the joke. Quite frankly, I take zero offense at anything that's been said in this thread. smile.png

But there are always some feminist groups that get pissed off at such jokes anyway or when there is a video game where women get brutally murdered despite not being a anti woman game.

Just because I call myself a dog, doesn't mean I'm a dog.

If you get my drift.

A group can claim to be a feminist group, but if they are fighting for ANYTHING other than woman having the same rights as a man.

Then that's not feminist.

In my opinion if there is anyone who doesn't believe I should have all the same rights as a man and vice versa, then that's messed up.

Doesn't mean I'm going to riot against this subject matter, that would be a different thing altogether.

Wow... if you have no humanity because you made a rape joke, I must be... wretched hellspawn or something.

I just generally ignore or mock people who get offended too easily. Usually the former, but the latter is just too tempting at times.

I agree with what you said, and the Derpy example is very suitable, but I just don't think that I would be all rude with the other person. :x

just wow Shankie, very wise words! :o

hmmmm...ignore them it's ok, but mock them would be mean, in fact it would be bullying like shankveld said in her post. You don't know if the person that is claiming you, is in fact a victim of rape.

That is the most hilarious art-work I've seen in a while.

Anyways, some people just strive to make everything politically correct, because if it offends someone it automatically offends them as well.

well, it depends how do you say it and who you say it, but I don't mind these. But yeah these can rub off people in the wrong way.

Yeah this is basically the point I was trying to get across. I don't really mind if people make jokes like this, as long as they're not specifically targeted to make people feel offended, like if you had it say HAHAHAHAH RAPE IS EXTREAMLLY FUNNY AND I THINK PEOPLE WHO GET RAPED ARE REALLY DUMB. Then that would be probably justified as specifically offensive, but if you where just doing it as some humorous reasoning without trying to offending anyone then I don't really have a problem with it.

If people did have problems with these kinda things in the past, then they should just try to avoid this stuff, they shouldn't be looking for it in my opinion.
