I liked both of the evil dead films to a degree, but the old one wins just due to nostalgia

As for the grudge films, I have only seen the first two. I didn't even know there was more then that.

There's a japanese original, two different japanese remakes and and american remake with two sequels

  • 3 months later...

My favorite movies, in no particular order, are: The Sixth Sense   Signs   The Village   Enter Nowhere [R]   Cloud Atlas [R]   The Fountain   Knowing   The Forgotten   Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark [R]   Pan's Labyrinth [R]   Pirates of the Caribbean (series)   Harry Potter (series)   Various Christmas movies     I don't really have any least favorite movies.

My old post in this thread is really out of date, so I'll make a new one.

My favorite movies, in no particular order, are the following:

  • Donnie Darko
    Year: 2001
MPAA Content Rating: R for language, some drug use and violence
    IMDB Quality Rating: 8.1/10

Donnie Darko is easily one of my favorite movies of all time. It's a science fiction movie dealing with largely abstruse and abstract concepts. I first saw it when I was around 14 or 15 years old, but I've watched it several times over the years after that point. I appreciate it more the more I watch it.

  • The Fountain
    Year: 2006
MPAA Content Rating: PG-13 for some intense sequences of violent action, some sensuality and language
    IMDB Quality Rating: 7.4/10

The Fountain is a very spiritual and transcendental movie. It approaches the concepts of life, death, and time in a very unique and fascinating manner. It is a truly beautiful and thought-provoking movie.

  • Guardians of the Galaxy
    Year: 2014
MPAA Content Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for some language
    IMDB Quality Rating: 8.6/10

Guardians of the Galaxy is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. I just love it so much. This movie pretty much took everything I love about movies and performed excellently in each respect. It's funny, entertaining, exciting, and emotional. Its storyline is intriguing and thought-provoking. Its characters have depth, are interesting, and most importantly are lovable.

  • Pan's Labyrinth
    Year: 2006
MPAA Content Rating: R for graphic violence and some language
    IMDB Quality Rating: 8.3/10

Pan's Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies. It poses an interesting duality in that it's both a fantasy movie and a war movie. Critical elements are fantastical, yet the movie is dark, violent, and gritty. I have watched it many times, and a certain scene still makes me cry each time. It's a truly excellent film.

  • Let Me In
    Year: 2010
MPAA Content Rating: R for strong bloody horror violence, language and a brief sexual situation
    IMDB Quality Rating: 7.2/10

I only saw this movie recently, yet I can confidently list it as one of my favorite movies. This movie made me feel emotions that were both deeper and of a wider variety than most movies make me feel. It was a masterful movie, and the duality of emotions I experienced was fascinating. One moment I'd feel fear, horror, or disgust, and the next I'd feel love, sympathy, or even a muted joy. In addition, the movie, for me, resulted in a cascade of nostalgia, longing, sorrow, hope, and joy.

  • Cloud Atlas
    Year: 2012
MPAA Content Rating: R for violence, language, sexuality/nudity and some drug use
    IMDB Quality Rating: 7.6/10

This is one of the more complex movies I've seen, and I really need to rewatch it. It's incredibly unique and interesting, but it can be difficult to follow at times.

  • District 9
    Year: 2009
MPAA Content Rating: R for bloody violence and pervasive language
    IMDB Quality Rating: 8.0/10

I didn't appreciate this movie very much when I was younger, but I watched it more recently and realized how ingenious it really is. It's definitely not your typical science fiction movie.

  • Event Horizon
    Year: 1997
MPAA Content Rating: R for strong violence and gore, language and some nudity
    IMDB Quality Rating: 6.7/10

This movie was excessively violent at parts, but it was also incredibly interesting. I won't go into detail as I don't want to give away what it's about, but it explores one of my favorite hypothetical concepts.

  • The Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean series, as well as various Christmas movies. They've been among my favorite movies for a very long time.

Has anyone seen the new guardians of the galaxy film?

It's pritty darn good as far as films go! I agree with SCS, it has really good development of its. Characters and is also gets away from being very cliche.

Die hard 4 and I robot are 2 films that I also can just watch over and over. They are just so easy to watch and enjoy! I think for this reason I actually really enjoyed watching battleship, it is easy to watch and has good moments!

It's funny, these 3 films are films that are not good but fun to watch, films like inception are amazing and much better but I feel they take effort to watch and understand so I don't enjoy watching them over.

Oh yeah, I also over all the pirates of the carribean films! There first 3 I have re watched to death!

Favorite movie(s)?

Fight Club - Just an amazing film. It has an awesome plot with a pretty deep message within it.

Jurassic Park - Easily one of the best films of the 90's...and ever.

The Blair Witch Project - A horror film that is actually terrifying, it's about playing tricks on your imagination.

Amadeus - Fantastic acting and a great appreciation of music.

Ninja Scroll - Classic and brutal anime. Never gets old.

Those are some of them.

Least favorite movie(s)?

Any of the Saw films - Yay, torture porn. Woo.

The Evil Dead Reboot - Basically torture porn but with brain-dead characters. Oh yeah, let's read from a book made of human flesh.

Gods Not Dead - This is not a horrible film because it is about religion, no, it is just a downright horrible film.

Joe Dirt - Why is this movie popular again? Rednecks and feces jokes. Funny.

The Fog 'remake' - A complete bastardization of the original.

There are definitely some I am just not remembering right at this moment.

Very difficult to choose a favourite. Maybe The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, because it's basically the best of all the ones I can choose. But personally, The Lion King. Such a sweet movie.

Least favourite? Easy. Food Fight. I hate this movie. But if you refer on which of the ones I like I like less than the others I would pick The Dark Knight. The movie is good, but Batman is way too overrated.

I love zombie movies. Any zombie movie, even if they are in Spanish like REC 1,2 and 3.

Night of the Living Dead, the 1960s and 1990s one.

Especially comedy based ones, Planet Terror, Zombieland, Dawn of the Dead (remake), Shawn of the Dead (remake) and Fido.

The Walking Dead is amazing and I quickly developed an obsession with zombies because of it.

My favourite movie is "28 Weeks Later". I can remember when I rented it and then seeing all the gore and violence in it. I have re-watched it several times.

As for my least favourite, it has to be "Zombie Massacre". Oh god was that movie terrible. I should have known it was going to be crap when I saw it was made by Uwe Boll.

Seeing a trend?

A mix of old children's movies [many Halloween based], movies with cars (I'm a gearhead), plus some other action/comedy movies here and there.

Plus, some oldies but goodies are in there, too.

Now, time for least favorites? Oooh... that's hard.  Really hard.

Vacancy [2007] - wow, that was one really crappy "scary movie" lol.

30,000 Leagues under the sea.  Just... no... I don't even... why?

(Wow, I can't believe I'm about to say this, but) Ghostrider... Lol, I love Nicholas Cage, but damn, that movie sucked.

I bet y'all are like... "That's one crazy list you got there Miles!"

Indeed, it is.

I get very strange looks when I say it, but my favorite movie is "Clue" the 1985 comedy/mystery based on the board game.  It's got a bunch of actors and actresses that I love in it, and its a great comedy in my opinion.  For anyone who hasn't seen it, here's the trailer.....

Most Friday the 13th movies.

Most Disney movies.

Most Godzilla movies.

Nearly all of the LOTR and SW movies.

Nearly all the trilogies that exist.

Nearly all the Superhero movies.

My all-time favourite has to go to the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Well recieved and one of the few old ones I can't forget. THAT MUSIC, THO.

My least favourite goes to the biggest pile of crap I've ever seen, Food Fight. I don't hate any other movie like that one. They put zero effort on everything, literally.

I have to go with Ponyo. That movie is so cute. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it was going to be in theaters. <3 My least favorite movie is the Incredibles though. I think it's mainly because in school, we watched it so much when I really didn't want to. :/

Another movie I really love is Frozen. Yes, I know it gets a lot of hate... but I still love it. I'm not obsessed with it like some people are, though I still love it more than almost anything. I love Elsa because I can relate to her so well.
