Honestly I don't entirely like the (incoming hate storm) .mov series. Just not the type of comedy I'm into. though there are some parody series out there that are interesting/funny and worth watching

Some are okay I guess. It all up to you. I could say something is funny as hell, and you may think its stupid. That being said some I just don't like. I don't know why I don't like some parodies, I just don't. I guess that's just me.

Pretty much this: It has some bits that are really enjoyable, but the mean-spirited style puts a lot people off.

In terms of abridged stuff, there's sadly a boatload of series that are not very well made: Either the voice-acting, the writing or both.

I'd suggest to check out "Friendship is Witchcraft", The Phoenix Wright thingie and the "Doctor Whooves and Assistant" stuff.

As little of the fan made videos I've seen, the only ones which have actually appealed to me would be Friendship is Witchcraft and Turnabout Storm(the Phoenix Wright one).

All of the others I've seen seem to be badly done or just plain grim or silly.

.mov is pretty grim and has some very either gory or perverse humor.  Friendship is Witchcraft is rather annoying, but it's pretty funny.

Not really a series, But i find the parody "My little Dolan" Hilarious.

 

Don't ask why i like the dolan comics... It's impossible to explain

I highly recommend The Mentally Advanced Series. It's similar to Friendship is Witchcraft but is a little bit more grim, but no where not to the point of .MOV. There's twleve episodes out ( well techicnally eleven because one episode was never offically released, but still) and you could start watching them from the first one, but I think episode nine best shows the personality given to each character

.MOV series is hilarious. I recommend watching that ,but just a note to you it contains swearing and stuff like that. Just wanted to point that out.

Freaking cannot reccomend that enough. I love rainbow dash in canon, but damnit, if Dash wasn't "dash", I'd want her personality to be this, she's so freaking adorable with her optimistic outlook on life and bumbling nature. And Pinkie pie is an incredible accent to her personality. Yes.

As much as the .mov series breaks from normal MLP, I Actually find Scootaloo's "Get up rainbow dash" part with dash getting the energy to get off the ground from it to be perfectly in character with how things would work in the show proper.

I LOVE russian pinkie. Pinkie eats icecream to rebel against pinkies oppressors. Pinkie's persona would make for a great anti-pinkie - or another anti-pinkie persona
