Do you think Fluttershy is a hippie?

OK first of all, Fluttershy loves animals so it's highly likely that she's a vegetarian. Fluttershy also enjoys being with nature and doesn't seem to use violence (except in Putting Your Hoof Down but that's Iron Will's fault). Now I don't know if she's a stoner or if she's done LSD or heroin but this being a kids' show, I highly doubt it. I don't know about you guys but, I always thought she had a sort of hippie vibe, I mean just look at her mane it's long and pink and her cutie a mark is three butterflies. So what do you think, is she a hippie?

Not really honestly, I don't think of a hippie just being kind to animals and nature.

Also considering their pony's technically they should all be vegetarian, so I doubt she is the only one who is vegetarian(In fact I'm pretty sure all the pony's are vegetarians.)

 

She likes animals because its her talent and nature because well animals like nature aswell .

She doesn't use violence that much because shes shy, but its also because its a kids show to. However there have been plenty of times where shes got angry and been pretty violent. Ending of best night ever, when Rainbow Dash is trying to get her to go see the dragon migration in Dragon quest, and I'm sure theres a few other time besides putting your hoof down shes been violent. Again it is a kids show and being the shy one of the group she does have a very small chance of actually using anything really violent.

 

Pretty obvious a kids show had no intentions of showing drugs or anything of that nature, and the cutie mark is just because she was saved from falling by butterfly's(Or thats always made sense to me) And it represents her talent with animals thats all.

 

So not really, I don't imagine Fluttershy a hippie at all. Just a kind pony who likes nature, people who like nature aren't automatically hippie ya know .

People do not become vegetarians simply because they love animals, and people who love animals do not need to be vegetarians. I love animals, and all of the ones I've tried taste good. Sometimes people become vegetarian to get/stay slim. You don't need to be a vegetarian to be an animal lover. Likewise, you don't need to be an animal lover to be a vegetarian.

 

Nah, the reason she is a vegetarian is because horses are herbivores. Not because she's an animal lover.

No. I certainly think that Fluttershy is not a hippie. What are you basing that off of? The fact that she likes animals and nature? That's like calling Rainbow Dash a lesbian because she is an athlete and has a rainbow mane. It doesn't really add up. Just because they match PART of a stereotype doesn't mean that in any way they are included in it. And by the way, they are all vegetarian. Species\Horses\Ponies.zip are herbivores.

No, definitely not.  While she stands for peace, and loves the environment, it doesn't mean that she's a part of the hippie movement.  Plus, a lot, not all, but certainly a majority of hippies are avid pot smokers and acid droppers.

No. Not at all. Hippies existed in the human world and there were lots of them, or at least there were lots of imitators. Fluttershy is a pony and she seems to be one of a kind, at least around Ponyville. The only one as close to nature as her is Zecora, and she doesn't keep animals. So no, Fluttershy's not a hippie. Ponies only wear clothes for decoration, or when the clothes are required for some kind of special event. Ponies don't seem to really have anything againsf nudity. Which would make sense, considering how, unlike humans, ponies don't have them directly in their field of vision.

Not really, but I can see the confusion. The hippy counterculture movement was a reaction to the conservative, militaristic and puritanical mainstream culture of America in the 60's. While Fluttershy is showing a few cosmetic simularities to that movement, and does appear to be rejecting mainstream pegasi culture (living ground-bound, and reluctant to fly for example), she's not showing the rejection of mainstream morals and embracing of 'exotic' pagan religions that really mark a true 'hippy'. I would be surprised if she did, given that would push the show right over into the mature area.

Nope. Not everyone who loves animals is a hippie, and every hippie doesn't necessarily love animals. Besides, she also takes care of omnivorous and carnivorous animals, and she has been seen feeding fish and worms to her animals before.

Totally a hippie. She doesn't have to be vegetarian though, ponies don't even eat meat. Also, spending time with nature yes. But she only gets mad when she takes hallucinogenic substances to cope with stress ( Dragon attacking her friends, animals running away from. her...)  She gets this crazy idea she's stronger and scary when she's high on that stuff.

Fluttershy doesn't seem that much like a hippie to me.

 

Traditional 1960's hippies represented a 'peaceful' form of rebellion against the Vietnam war/the conformation of corporate America. They believed in free love, the beauty of nature, and the idea of embracing of your fellow man. 

 

Fluttershy is too soft spoken to even consider protesting anything, as the hippie's were known to do. Though I believe she would have loved their 'down to earth' lifestyle, she seems much too introverted to have lived in a hippie commune, and especially too timid to try any of the rash activities they were known to participate in (sex, drugs, odd 'Native American' rituals).

 

It's a novel idea, but still much too brazen for the shy little filly.

Are there ponies who aren't vegetarian? I mean... You know, they have pigs and cows and the like, but I doubt they eat them. I doubt they eat any meat, apart from gorefic.

 

Either way, hippies aren't really about liking animals. Well, now that I think about it, there isn't really much about Fluttershy being hippie-like, unless you have some weird idea about what the subculture is. I'd even go as far as saying she is pretty much the opposite of hippie person.
