A 5 year old boy gave these to me at work today. His favorite ponies are Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Applejack.

That's really sweet.  This is one of the most endearing things about young "fans"; it probably doesn't even occur to children to analyze, nitpick, or criticize.  They just sincerely like and care for something or someone.  In this case, that someone is Rainbow Dash (and Pinkie and AJ).

I can't say Dash is my favourite pony. In fact, I'd say she and Flutters are at the bottom of my list. Although I have problems with her brash and sometimes cruel personality, I have a deep sense of respect for her too. She is the icon of Bronies, the one who we all associate with our fandom. You could even go as far as to say that she is FIM'a logo. I truly think the fandom wouldn't be the same without everybody's favourite rainbow-maned badass with wings.
