I know their not invincible, but they are extremely powerful, and btw in my opinion, celestia lost out of p.I.s, not becouse she's weak, or chrysalis is more powerful, I mean if she used the power of love to defeat celestia, then wouldn't that mean cadence is more powerful than her? LOVE>SUN?

You need to hear Huey Lewis and the News sing about "The Power of Love." Still, Cadence has no reason to attack Celestia, and in a battle of sheer magic, Celestia would probably win. But I digress.

Most of Twilight's power is as yet untapped, and with the development of that power, there surely are going to be ways for her to grow and still be reasonably challenged by various situations.

I am excited for where the show is going... a more powerful Twilight means more powerful enemies... and with Discord on the pony's side... then they must be even stronger than Discord... unless it was all a trick and he is just fooling everypony

Yes, I do very much. The show has to move forward and this is a new twist and who knows that it'll bring. It adds some mystery and anticipation, and nobody knows what's coming next, therefore they'll most certainly tune in to new episodes as they come out and that's what makes any tv show successful.

I supported it whole heartedly. I think that it's a great way to end a season, especially when the series has now met the 65 episode milestone to become easily exported. There are also friendship lessons that couldn't be explored before now open for the writers to use, and Lauren Faust actually planned from the beginning for Twilight to become a princess, and that she was already in training before we see her.

My theory is, after substantial magic training from Celestia, Twilight was sent to Ponyville. She was to make some friends and find her place as the element of Magic. After that, Celestia let her stay and study the magic of friendship, an easy way to keep all the elements together as well as let Twilight learn and grow, to the point she's ready to fulfil her destiny as a Princess. Villians come and go, with the friends defeating them one-by-one (with the exception of Chrysalis, who was deafeted by the other young princess)

The final test was easy for Twilight because of what she'd learned about friendship. Who would have thought that the answer was to show the other mane-6 what they meant to eachother, and allow them to rediscover their talents at the same time. Only Twilight could have done that, and it proved she was ready.

TL;DR

I like that Twilight is a princess now!

In my personal opinion I think that the only problem with Alicorn Twilight would be the fact that she instantly knew how to use her wings.(Ie fly.)

I would have been fine with the whole transformation if I could convince myself that good episodes could be milked out of her new appearance.Rainbow Dash teaching her to fly, hilarity as Fluttershy isn't a good teacher ect ect.

I reassured myself in my mind that this could happen until the very end of the episode where Twilight was shown to fly flawlessly. It just lead me to more questions. What exactly IS she going to do as a Princess and what turn will the creators take with her new status?

The episode itself?Flawless.I found it extremely enjoyable and loved each and every one of the songs.

I think some of us will agree that the reason some people don't like Alicorn Twilight is because of the over saturated Princess hate. Not just in MLP but in media in general.

Why I've come to this conclusion is that recently I've seen a lot of media that has the ruler as a princess and not a queen. I personally don't really care for the hate but I also don't find the whole princess thing bad... sometimes. Why? Because if a princess is done right then it can work (Zelda games for example) but if done wrong there will be nothing bu annoyance ahead (princess peach, Felix the cat movie, etc.)

Another thing: most people will ask "why a princess and not a queen?" Well from what I've learn in history, princesses can't become queens unless they marry a prince (I'm not making this up) which would explain why Celestia and Luna are still princesses (I mean, who would they marry, they're both immortal goddesses.)

So there's no need to fret, because the brony modo is love and tolerate. If you don't like Alicorn Twilight, that's fine. If you do, that's also fine. I say like what you want, that's the beauty of freedom. Can't wait to see season 4.

I'm reserving judgment until I see what it is that they plan to do with her. I've loved pretty much every moment of this series since episode 1. They've earned the benefit of the doubt.

I was just listening to the song "Vanilla Twilight" by Owl City, and I thought this part was cool:

When violet eyes get brighter
And heavy wings grow lighter

It sounds like it is about Princess Twilight Sparkle.

Twilight Sparkle who became a Pegasus? yes. I can't wait for season 4. I mean, since Twilight Sparkle  became a Twilicorn, I hope they make it so exciting about the new season for next year, because I'm so pump up about season 4 of My little Pony. I hope the rest of you bronies are excited too. looking forward to it.

I think that Twilight becoming a alicorn princess is wonderful. She can study on how to become a princess and still study friendship. If princess Celestia didn't want her to become a princess she would've became a princess. Its simple logic. Well to me.

I too think Twilight becoming a alicorn princess is awesome and now the possibilities for her character are endless, and this will stop the show growing old.

Its good both for twilight and the other characters.

For Twilight it has shown how much shes grown from the start of the series, and it pretty much finished her story arc.

On the other hand its good for the other characters since that means we will get more episodes dediicated to the other mane 6's destinies.

So in my opinion its a win win happy.png

@,

Hey there. Your thread seemed to be giving an opinion about Twilight's transformation into an Alicorn princess, and as we already had a pinned topic for the purpose of sharing our opinions on the subject, I have merged your thread with the older one. In the future, please be sure to use the search feature before making threads, just to make sure there aren't existing threads that serve the same purpose.

At first I was shocked by the Idea that Twilight Turned into Alicorn. Some how it didnt feel right, but as time passed by I somehow got used to the fact and thats all. I mean I think Twi staying a simple unicorn would be better idea but I dont really see anything wrong with her being a Alicorn. Future will show.. img-387689-1-5e7kmu.png

(edited)

Some of the people who "are mad" at it just dislikes the idea of Twilight Sparkle being a alicorn princess. And some thinks that hasbro does it so they call sell more cool looking toys.

Anyways, I think it's silly to be sad about her being an alicorn. We don't even know what will happen in the future episodes.

But read through some topics in this section and I'm sure you'll find your answers wink.png

I think it boils down to two things....Hasbro marketing FIM just for toys, and fans not liking change.

The toy one I can understand, because Hasbro started selling the toys before this episode even aired.  In a sense it was purposefully spoiled because of the toy gambit.

Not liking change, we can all attest to that one.  Most of kids I watch that watch the show don't like Twi going into alicorn mode for that simple fact.  They don't want change, and this is the targeted demographic I am speaking of.  It seems so out of left field that many fans either don't know what to say about it, or hate it outright.

I'm am in the category that although I am not keen on the idea (because of the change aspect), I am not throwing the concept out the window and leaving the fandom over it because we don't know what's going to happen.  AND we won't know until season 4.

Now when I think of it... why were we pissed over this whole deal anyways? I guess to many jumped on the hate Twilicorn bandwagon...

But some hated it because they thought that it would be the end of the show, with Twilight being the princess and all

The reason why it has made so many people including yours truly angry is because it introduced a major change with barely any of the character or plot development that is necessary to justify it and did a very poor job introducing this change with a rushed season finale that made no sense and seemed so rushed and tacked on that it made the whole episode seem like a mere formality until the coronation.  It just smacks of Mary Sue style wish fulfillment pandering trap which many shows geared toward girls falls into which for the most MLP has not only avoided but has been the antithesis of because it says "well Twilight we are going to make you an alicorn princess because you have made so many great friends and have been a good teachers pet."

I have ackowledged many times that this can still work despite all of its flaws, and I really hope it does because Twilight is one of the best characters in this show but the introduction has not been very encouraging. But I suppose I have no choice but to wait and see what happens in season 4, I have full confidence this will work if Hasbro backs off an lets the writers do their jobs.

Well, this has been discussed many times before but I'll sum it up! :)

There are many reasons people don't really like Twilight's transformation. I personally don't mind, but I'm guessing some people might not like it because it was kinda random how it was thrown in, without warning (once Equestria Daily and other news sites released it people went wild). People weren't really ready for Twilight to become so high and mighty yet, and were worried that she'd not see her friends or wouldn't be the same. Other people complained it was Hasbro's doing (which is probably true, but the show pulled it off good) and that it was another marketing scheme.

But there's loads of reasons, and I dunno why people are starting flame wars over Twilight gaining a couple wings. The show won't be changed for the worse, maybe not even that much changed, and if it is, for the better. ;) We only saw one episode with her and her wings, and that wasn't even until the end. So I personally think we shouldn't worry....and although this might seem repetitive to say....trust the writers!! :)

Theres plenty of legitment concerns about Twilights transformation, will any of them come to fruitation? Maybe so maybe not.

I think it scares people she got changed and then we learned next to nothing about how she'll be like from now on, so now people are worried.

I personally remain pretty much neutral on the matter overall, until the new season arrives. Even if I don't end up liking new Twilight i have 5 other ponies to enjoy, so its not the end of the world to me.

But with as little info as we've had both sides have made good arguments, I guess its mostly speculation and opinions right now though.

Honestly, some people seem more upset about my not loving Twilight as an Alicorn than I am with her becoming one >_>

But anyhow, as for me personally, there are several reasons. Somehow she doesn't feel right to me as an Alicorn, and Magical Mystery Cure wasn't able to change my mind on that matter. Furthermore, I felt that during Season 2 and after the episode Lesson Zero, Twilight's status as the "main character" was gone, and that from that point forward the series would develop each of the Mane Six equally and at a relatively similar rate. This was something I wholeheartedly approved of, however Magical Mystery Cure made it feel to me like the other Mane Six members' roles in the show were to help Twilight get to where she is today, and I don't particularly like the feeling that that gives off. I will accept the change if they use it to develop her character in interesting ways and if the writers create interesting character arcs for other major characters, but for now I'm not the biggest fan of it. Time will tell.
