Views on Shipping?

Of course I love pony shipping! However, I don't agree with same sex shipping because the show never goes into any depth of shipping in that sense. My definition of shipping is that you desire to see them as a couple, and I feel that a true couple is one shared between a man and a woman only, and that applies to ponies. So in summary, I like canon/opposite sex shippings. 

 

However, I'm fine with you guys shipping Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash and the like because you guys may have different definitions of a couple from me. I just won't partake in that is all.

While I don't mind ships between the Mane 6, I particularly don't care for them. I just don't see the appeal of it personally. I think the ponies are great, but I don't even want to ship my OC with any of them.. But Cal x Fluttershy, or Cal x Pinkie Pie would be nice...but I feel the Mane 6 are special. But this is the fandom where anything is possible, so I don't hate on ships or shippings.. But at this present moment they're not for me.

I have no problem with shipping relationships at all.  This kind of fun is pretty natural, but I don't see the show doing it at all and we simply just do it ourselves.

Shipping is a funny thing. There is such a huge range of characters and archetypes in this show which is the reason for the popularity of shipping by Bronies.

 

I for one think it's great. First, it's all completely fanon - people can be imaginative with the romance situations they put characters in, and there's no worry of it ever happening in canon. Second, some characters just look so cute together (esp. Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash <3) and other pairings can fill in each other's character qualities, which is a great way for the creative fandom to flex such creativity in their artwork/writing. I also like the fact that most shipping is same-sex; it passively teaches the simple lesson that relationships don't have to be between a male and a female - also a lesson that isn't something the show would teach, so we take it upon ourselves

, hi, just letting you know that I've merged your thread with an older one that we already had for talking about how we feel about shipping ponies . It depends on the pairing for me, but I love shipping so long as the characters fit well together and I can imagine them being a couple.

I'm generally fine with them as long as they're done well...i.e., if the pairing in question seems believable.

 

Furthermore, I see pairings that either A.) force homo/bisexual behavior upon a character who shows no signs of it in-show, and B.) split up an already-established canon romance, as total bullshit.

 

Using ATLA as an example, you've no idea how many fan ships I've seen where Kataang (the canon pairing) is split apart by some poorly-written breakup between Aang and Katara, just so that the fan in question can ship Zutara or Taang or whatever. Bull. Shit.

 

Characters who don't show any romantic interest in any other characters one way or the other, though, are fair game in my book...again, so long as the ships are believable. As in, don't write characters out-of-character just to fulfill your own fantasies. Seriously - that shit's annoying. :okiedokielokie:

 

 

Same here, I generally don't have a problem with them at all as long as they are somewhat reasonable. Then agin peoples opinions on a "reasonable" ponyxpony will vary. 

 

I do tend to favor the pony x pony between the mane 6 than any other characters with the exemption of a few background ponies and characters.

Shippings are pretty entertaining. I don't really take them seriously, but I'm not completely against them either. Most shippings are funny or cute, so who am I to be against them.

 

I don't really like OC-canon shippings. Some OCs are really good and I don't mind those, but just a random OC with no personality and history? Nope.

Can't say I'm a fan. I guess there's enough real life surrounding me every day-MLP takes me away from that for a while. It kind of sucks to have it reflect humanity to that extent imo.

 

Don't get me wrong-I'm not against it, I think it's an art form like any other. It's just not for me.

I'm okay with it. I mean there are some shippings I really do like and find adorable, and there's also shippings that are just downright ridiculous and make absolutely no sense. 

 

Here's just an example of a completely odd and rather horrid shipping. Don't even look at it, unless you want to go blind.

 

 

 

 

 

Yeah... as long as it's not so incredibly strange and bizarre, I'm fine with it.

 

 

On a side note, I find Pinkie Pie x Rainbow and Pinkie Pie x Applejack to be rather adorable mlp shippings.

I'm also very open-minded about them I really do approve of pretty much any non-absolutely nonsensical shipping.

 

My favorites...my favorites are RariShy, RariJack, Sweetie Belle X Spike, TwiJack, FlutterDash and Celestia X Discord.

 

I refuse to use any of the given shipping names for the two shipments I didn't use a name for.

I used to have an unfavorable opinion about shipping until love and tolerance somehow changed my mind.

 

I have only one metaphysical problem that continues to bother me. I know it's ridiculous of me but I consider myself something of a philosopher. The Mane Six don't have any romantic relationships inside their group, so it sometimes feels silly that the fans deliberately write non-canon stories about them to make it possible.

 

But, I actually find some ships quite cute. I don't bother reading the fanfics, but the artwork is just adorable. To me shipping is a guilty pleasure and I have nothing against people having fun in their own way. My favorite ship is LyraBon. 

 

They are just sooooooo cute together!

Shipping....it's alright I guess. While I'm not too huge of a shipper myself, I do find myself searching FlutterDash under its Tumblr tag. I just think they're so adorable together!

FlashLight is not canon! Equestria Girls was (hopefully) intended to be a non-canon spinoff.

 

I honestly don't get the hype over the whole shipping thing. A good 85% of the pairings are just plain ridiculous (Twilight and Celestia?! Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash?! What's wrong with you guys?) and whole idea of taking two semi-random characters and forcing us to believe that they were always meant to be is one of the most (if not the most) uninteresting and unoriginal fanfiction ideas ever.

Well I love shipping just in general. I don't see a problem with it, and I think its adorable.   I usually only ship characters that are at least hinted at, opposed to shippings that'll never happen. I do think its kind of absurd to say, "These two characters are meant to be together because they were standing next to each other or smiling at each other!". Thats just...no. If they want to ship those two characters then thats fine, as long as they don't say something like that.

 

Sure, shipping is kind of pointless, but its sort of fun and its something to do when you're bored. And as I said above, shipping is adorable, and I don't see a need for a excuse to ship characters beyond that.

I usually don't really care about shipping, but I love ships for MLP, particularly Flutterdash. They're just so adorable together, and there's some really good Flutterdash artwork/fanfics out there.
