Honestly, I don't really like shipping in general. I find it weird and unfitting most of the times.

But there are some exceptions when it can be very adorable.

 

I despise everything that is rule 34 or NSFW-ish though. It's just creepy and disgusting in my opinion. And it totally ruins the nice and clean image of ponies.

 

But shipping can be alright, as long as it's done in a tasteful way.

I voted sometimes. I am not big of it In the Pony world (a little bit because relationships will probably never happen anyway) but sometimes it can be really cute. I agree however with Marshmallow on the whole rule 34 thing. I mean to each is own, but I personally do not like it with Ponies.

This is sorta my opinion on it.

 

Non-Graphic Shipping (Cuddling, Snuggling, Kissing, Lying in bed in suggestive positions) is awesome! I adore nearly all kinds! Octavia x Vinyl Scratches, Lyra x Bon Bon, Derpy Hooves x Doctor Whooves, upcoming wave of Big Mac x Cheerlie, and Fluttershy x Rainbow Dash are my favorites! I'm not too crazy about Celestia x Almost anypony since she tends to be everypony's role model and teacher... and Discord x Anypony is kind weird... (except fan made female Chimera Eris, Discord x Eris is awesome!).

 

The only time I'd enjoy any shipping that gets a little too graphic into the Rule 34/NSFW/"Porny" areas is if the ponies are in human form! Therefore I am not disturbed by sexual horses! (Loophole!)

I'm perfectly fine with most shipping. On occasion there are pairings I feel like are intrinsically unworkable, such as Discord with anyone, or Rarity and Applejack, but for the most part, if the story is well written, or if the fanart is cute, I'll probably like it.

 

I'm not exactly big on written Rule 34, though I do make an exception for extremely well written fics, such as Romance Reports, that have actual plot and real motivations--and consequences and so on--to them. Beyond that though I stay away from written Rule 34, and avoid picture based Rule 34 altogether.

 

Note that this opinion will change if we ever end up with any canonical pairings. If we do, I'll probably frown on seeing shipping that breaks said canon.

Changing something around like characterization within show just seems a little strange to me. It’s cool if other people enjoy it, but personally I don't put much time or effort into anything as far as shipping goes.

In a sense. Frankly that whole situation is rather iffy with me and I've never been comfortable seeing fics that develop it beyond the cutesy stage we see on the show, because Rarity is an adult and Spike is a child. If Spike were an adult it'd be fine, but since he isn't...it's enough for me to headcanonize that Rarity could still be in romantic relationships with other, adult ponies, while appreciating Spike's adoration as being cutesy but not too much beyond that. I think it's cute when its well done and fits the characters(and when it's tame of course). I also enjoy a little romance-plot in a fanfic as long as it's not forced and not too graphic. So I generally like it and I often visit the shipping thread in here
