Shipping: Who do you ship?

The special "ship names" tend to confuse me. I just say it straight out. I like to ship...

 

Fluttershy and Big Mac. I think they'd make such a nice couple.

 

Twilight and Celestia. I know that's not a popular ship, but who doesn't see how much Twilight adores her former mentor? Love is just a heartbeat away.

 

Trixie and Twilight. If not Celestia, I can see Trixie growing to love her former nemesis.

Luna and Nurse Redheart. In my mind, after Luna was reformed, she needed a complete physical to make sure there was no after effects from her time as Nightmare Moon. Since nurse Redheart is an Earth pony, there was no concerns over magic. Luna felt able to let her mane down, so to speak. Friendship soon blossomed into something more. 

 

Rarity and Applejack. The refined elegance of Rarity combined with the down to Earth wholesomeness of Applejack would work so well, in my opinion.

 

Pinkie and Rainbow Dash. That would just be cute!

Spike-....ity? Spikity? Dunno, but it's spike and rarity. On episode 10 of season 1 or 2(i forgot) i remember i was hoping they'd like fall in love or something and become a couple.

 

And Flutterdash. Fluttershy and Rainbow are my 2 favorite ponies. It'd be funny and cute to see them together.

How two completely different personalities can work with Discord's outspoken, flamboyant behavior being the inverse of Fluttershy's timid, calm demeanor. Seems like Hasbro also has no boundaries on their depiction within the show too, so everything works out.

I do not like most ships, though for some reason I love same sex ships for some reason, mostly FlutterDash. Other than those, I really don't care or like most other ones. Especially ones that don't make sense or involve my favorite ponies (except same sex of course).

So my main one would have too be FlutterDash. For pretty much all the obvious reasons one might ship FlutterDash. Though I guess the whole brave warrior saving the shy princess thing is basically nonexistent in their relationship at this point(not entirley a bad thing.) Actually I can't remebr that many FlutterDash episodes after season two. Though Hurricane Fluttershy is defintley in my top 20 episodes. 

Then I guess Rarijack and TwiPie are defaults. I don't even like TwiPie and I ship it. And I only ship it because I don't ship either of those charcters with anyone else. Actually I ship Pinkie Pie with every member of thebmane six. Then there's Starxie, because Trixie and Starlight togther is amazing. Then RariShy, Sparoty , and TwiShy. The last two is only because they look cute togther.

Also FlutterCord is second best after FlutterDash. Only because of Discord, he could probaly be paired with anyone and their relationship would be amazing. On a side note I plan on writing a ship fic eventually that will include FlutterDash. Though because Fluttershy overcame her insecurities in recent seasons it's harder for me too find easy conflict too introduce. (Normally a FlutterDash ship fic might have the conflict be Fluttershy not having the confidence too admit her feelings too Dash.)

I figured I would add this. So one thing I've seen as too why peaople don't ship FlutterDash is because Rainbow would be abusive of Fluttershy. Which even ignoring the fact that season 7 Fluttershy wouldn't take Rainbow's sh*t, Rainbow Dash has never been shown too act that way towards Fluttershy. And I don't mean the moments where Rainbow gets annoyed at her(she gets annoyed by everyone), or even when she acted out of charcter in that zombie episode last season, Rainbow Dash has never intentionaly been mean too Fluttershy.

I mean in Hurricane Fluttershy Rainbow talks calmly and resonably too Fluttershy in order too convince she can fly better. In the episode she doesn't talk too anybody else in the same way. Because Rainbow Dash understands that in order too reach Fluttershy she has too be kind and understanding. 

Sorry but saying Rainbow Dash would abuse Fluttershy is a complete misrepresentation of their relationship.

Keep in mind since he's only in one episode everything that follows is extrapolation based on his brief screen time.

Quibbles special talent seems to be talking incessantly about something (I heard the end credits chatter was ad lib-ed, and knowing Patton Oswalt I can believe it).  Get him interested in something, or somepony, and he won't shut up about them.  Rainbow would positively love that sort of attention (I remember seeing her attitude described somewhere as "I don't care what you're into, as long as it's me" and I always thought that sounded like her). Hence, I don't think he would be put off by Dash's ego, and would probably get along excellently with Scootaloo (I guess he can be vice president of the RD fan club).  Also, since their areas of competence are totally separate, RD won't be constantly driven to one up him, like how she is with Applejack.

However, many people question whether Rainbow would want a relationship with someone who can't fly like she does, since flight is such an integral part of her identity.  What they see as a likely deal breaker, I see as a source of drama and fanfic fuel; after all, what good is a ship without anything to explore in the relationship?

First of all, I'm only really focusing on characters who have had their own episodes.  By that, I mean the episode is told entirely from a specific character's point of view and no other characters share the spotlight (so episodes such as "Canterlot Boutique" are good whereas episodes like "Slice of Life" or "Magic Duel" (which were "about" but weren't "starring" a bunch of background ponies and Trixie respectively) kind of miss the mark).  

 

 

 

With that criteria in mind, the only characters that fit the bill are:

The Mane Six

The CMC

Spike

Discord

Starlight Glimmer

(surprisingly) Big Mac ("Brotherhooves Social" fits the bill)

 

 

 

When it comes to the Mane Six, my ships are:

 

Soarin Dash

This ship is mostly founded on the fact that both of them are Wonderbolts.  Aka, they have a shared interest (that's good for any relationship).  Plus, their personalities are complimentary.  Dash is very confident and ambitious but can also be brash and even a little hotheaded sometimes.  On the other hand, Soarin is laid back, calm and collected but tends to somewhat lazy.  In turn, the two would make up for each other's shortcomings.  They're two sides of the same coin.

 

Fluttermac

I figured it made sense to kill two birds with one stone.  Fluttershy and Big Mac have a lot of common ground given they're both fairly shy and reserved individuals.  However, as an apple, Mac values a hard day's work.  As such, I think he could help Flutters to be more confident and assertive.  Also, in the episode "Honest Apple", it showed that Mac used to be a trouble maker.  Even though he's mellowed out a lot since then, I wouldn't be surprised if some of those old tendencies are still buried in his subconscious.  I believe that Fluttershy's kind and compassionate nature could keep him grounded.  She did manage to tame Discord after all.

 

Caramel Jack

Honestly (see what I did there?), I don't really have much of a justification for this ship other than the fact that Caramel is the only ranch pony I can think of who isn't related to Applejack.  Really, I prefer the AJ x Steelhooves ship in Fallout: Equestria but shipping her with an OC doesn't really make much sense in the long run.

 

Cheese Pie

The two are Rule 63 versions of each other.  'Nuff said.

 

Flashlight

If Hasbro ships it, then I'm cool with it.

 

Rarity Pommel

This is the only ship I'm kind of on the fence about.  I'm not super fond of LGBT relationships (that's a whole other discussion I'd rather not get into at the moment).  Yet, Coco was only pony I could think of who even kind of made sense as a ship for Rarity.  Like Rarity, Coco is extremely generous, she share's her interest in fashion, and she has the same sort of high society vibe about her.  Plus, Coco's Fluttershy-esque personality could help to balance out Rarities drama queen tendencies.  I did consider shipping Rarity with Fancy Pants . . . but then I remembered he has that stupid trophy wife.

I don't have much justification for any of these ships other then the fact that they're the ships everyone seems to go with when it comes to the CMC.  Still though, I think Sweetie Belle and Button Mash are an adorable couple.  This ship is OTP and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.

 

 

 

Other Characters:

 

Spember

I prefer this ship over Spike x Rarity because 1: that ship sank way back in season two and 2: Spike and Ember are the same bucking species.  Plus, unlike with Rarity, Ember's personality is complimentary to Spike's in a similar way to Rainbow Dash and Soarin.  After all, those two could not have won the Gauntlet of Fire were it not for the fact that they helped each other the whole way through.  Not to mention that they seem to be around the same age.

 

Dislestia

This is (obviously) one of my more oddball ships.  Honestly, I like it more for what it represents then for what it actually is.  Discord is the pure manifestation of chaos, so much so that if there isn't constantly some sort of of crazy crap going on around him, he'd literally disappear entirely.  On the other hand, Celestia is all about order and harmony.  So what would happen if you paired the two together (wink wink).  Still though, even if they are rivals in many ways, rivals can sometimes grow into something more.  After all, there's a reason the Joker is often shipped with Batman . . .

Okay, I admit it.  This is a crack ship.  It's still fun to think about though.

 

(Finally) Star Burst

Starlight would help Sunburst break out of his shell and be less of a recluse.  Sunburst would reign Starlight in so she's less of a sociopath.  Also, Starlight's raw magical potential would pair pretty well with all the experimental spells Sunburst keeps coming up with that he apparently can't actually test out for himself due to being crap at magic.  Not to mention that the two were childhood friends so it's sort of a Forrest Gump scenario (and the two were literally made for each other).

I like Quibble a lot. I think he'd at the very least be good friends with Dash, even if they weren't together. I'm a little bit surprised there aren't more fanfics involving their relationship.

 

 

Also, I'd forgotten it before but I'm going to add Scootaloo and Rumble to my ship list. It's more of a future ship, but I see them eventually becoming a couple.

Sorry bro but that ship is bull crap.  Quibble Pants is an @$$hole.  I don't think he would be a good influence on Dash.  Besides, judging by what we see in the show, the only thing he and Dash seem to have in common is that they're both fans of Daring Do.  I get that there's some value in the idea of a couple having shared interests, but said interests should be genuine passions that they build their lives around (aka, they'd have similar cutie marks), not just some hobby or amusing entertainment.  Claiming that Dash and Quibble make for a good couple based solely on the fact that they're both Daring Do fans; that's about as ridiculous an idea as Brony dating websites . . . . . .
