I grew up with a lot of great stuff, too much stuff to keep to one topic so I will only mention a few notables.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles classic series: the gritty, dark and violent comic may have come first but the 80's and 90's cartoon brought the turtles into the mainstream. I have been a turtles fan for over 20 years and still am, back when the cartoon aired I had nearly every toy you could imagine and watched that show religiously. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the first fandom I ever became involved with and am still glad to say I still am one. I saw the 2003 series and it felt like falling in love all over again and I have been eagerly watching the 2012 series since it premiered and with the exception of a few nitpicky things here and there I love it because it combines the silly humor from the classic cartoon with the darker elements of the 2003 series and the original comics.

Power Rangers: This was another thing I was into where I had nearly every toy you could imagine and never missed an episode. I may no longer be into this fandom but still have some very fond memories of it.

Batman the Animated Series: This show is what started a love affair with Batman that is yet to slow down. I have seen many different versions of Batman throughout the years but this is without a doubt my personal favorite.

Animaniacs: I love that the HUB has started airing this show, it is like they took the best of the old school cartoons and combined it with clever modern (as in modern back then) and old school references into an entertaining cartoon that never took itself too seriously.

Hey Arnold: Like MLP it had great morals and lessons and presented them in a way that while it was simple enough for children to understand were profound enough to where even adults could apply them without being too preachy. And it was an all around entertaining show with engaging, relatable characters placed in very interesting situations.

I love cartoons, i grew up watching quite alot and even now i still enjoy them a great deal.

The shows i used to love as a kid were;

Animaniacs- This show is one of the pinnacles of serialised cartoon entertainment that still holds up today. When i was younger i watched this show whenever i got the chance, and as i got older an rewatched it i came across a ton of new jokes i used to be too young to understand.

Tiny toons - while i didnt love them as much as animaniacs they do still hold a special place in my heart.

Batman the animated series - what can i say about this show that hasent been said. I used to love sneaking out of bed on a saturday morning before my mom woke up tomwatch it. Then i figured out how the vcr worked and i recorded this show and often i would freezeframe the tape and draw the still image. Gotta love the joker

Bikermice from mars

Superman the animated series

Batman beyond

Power rangers

Battletech (this show did not stand the test of time)

Spiderman ( the show from the 90's

Taz-mania ( i used to be a big warner bros and looney toons fan and taz was my favorite)

Powerpuff girls (is there anyone that didnt like this show?)

Dexters laboratory

Cow and chicken

These were the most influential shows when growing up.

The neighbour's boys were both big fans of Masters of the universeo, so when we all played together, there was always he-man and his comrades/foes involved and we would watch the series together. And things got really exciting for me when Sh-ra appeared: A pretty girl with a magic sword that would turn her into a heroine and her horse into an ALICORN...now maybe one of the equestrian princesses wants to date Swifty?

I also gew up with a lot of other 80's cartoon hits, like TMNT, the real ghostbusters, Lucky Luke, Queen Millennia, Saber Rider...ah all the good times, I miss these days

For me it was Barney, Mr. Dress up, Franklin and the original My Little Pony. When I was little, it was just me and my older sister so she forced me to watch the show.

Other than that I didn't really watch much tv other than random cooking shows my mom would leave on.

Depends on what you consider growing up time, While I watched a bunch of random kids shows, I do remember a little later on watching stuff like Danny Phantom(That was like my favorite show when i was younger :P.) Fairly odd parents, Spongebob, Jimmy neutron, and some other stuff that I can't think of at the moment :P.

I guess by some standards I'm still growing up since I'm only 15, so i guess it depends a bit :P.

Still those are the most notable ones I watched.

I grew up on Spongebob and Drake and Josh. Those 2 shows basically defined my childhood. I don't know anybody my age who didn't watch at least on of them.

Some of my favorites growing up were: the Peanuts/Charlie Brown animated shows (not from the 80s or 90s but still a very important part of my childhood), Sonic The Hedgehog (the legendary SatAM), Pokemon: Indigo League (I was in grade school during Gen I, 'twas an amazing time), Cartoon Planet (and then Space Ghost Coast To Coast when I got older), Dragonball Z, Hey Arnold, Ed, Edd & Eddy, Spongebob Squarepants (the ones from before 2004), Invader Zim (cancelled before its time). I liked almost all the old-school Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon shows but these were the ones I considered the best of the best.

I was born in 1989, for reference. I consider my "young childhood" to have ended in 2002, when it changed to "teenage years".

Aaaaaand I'm probably going to have to come back and edit this post because of forgetting something really important I missed.

I'd say the most prominent cartoons from my childhood would have to be: DragonBall Z, Pokemon, Looney Toons, Tom & Jerry, Tiny Toons, Courage the Cowardly dog, Animaniacs, Ed, Edd, & Eddy, and there are loads more. Pretty much what the others have stated are shows that I loved as a kid too.

I think I grew up with the standard late 90's to early 00's stuff, Dragonball z, Pokemon, Tom & Jerry, Beyblades, along with most of the stuff on Cartoon Network and CBBC at the time.

My favourite by far was Robot Wars which was by far the best TV Show of all time. Craig Charles is hilarious and Jonathon Pierce is probably the greatest commentator in the world (and still is). It was a show about robots beating the living daylights out of each other and it was the most awesome thing to watch. I can't remember if it came out before or after Battlebots but the two were almost identical in their concept.

Yes! I was hugely into BattleBots in 2001/2002. I seriously considered building one with my dad but that never really took off. Robot Wars was good too but I preferred BattleBots because A: it seemed like they were more selective about getting the best robots televized, B: I liked their arena hazards more and C: I like that the BB arena was well lit as opposed to dark.

I see from your profile you're British?  the UK had some really good crossover competitors in BattleBots...Warhead, Killerhurtz, Bigger Brother, Razer... Razer's weapon was not only deadly but very unique. I wish more bots had used pincers.

Fairly Motherbuckin' OddParents.

<nostalgia goggles>

That show had morals and taught lessons just like MLP, had a very similar animation style, had likeable characters (a ton of unimportant characters also had hilarious personalities and endearing qualities), and also had a great sense of humor, comparable to SpongeBob in style (although not quite as extreme). It also features magic, and as such features really intriguing concepts.

Actually, Razer, Bigger Brother and Killhertz were in Robot Wars first before participating in Battlebots as well due to their popularity and their success in the UK. I think Razer was twice world champion and UK champ before he went to Battlebots xD

I really enjoyed both but Robot Wars was always more for me, it had a lot more British humour and the House Robots were just so awesome.

Well, this may date me a bit, but the shows I knew growing up were the following:

Robotech - The first anime I ever watched, even if I was unaware of it at the time...

Reboot - Seriously used to be my most favorite-st thing in the world. A great example of how a show can entirely shake up the status quo and still remain awesome. Like FIM, it started out very episodic, with it's own world-building and unique lingo, then segued into a very interesting extended storyline leading up to the point where everything changed and the third season grew it's beard (literally in the case of Enzo Matrix) in a big  way. The 4th season was, however, extremely disappointing to me, but I guess that's to be expected when the show languishes in Development Hell for a decade. Where was I?

Kim Possible - The other end of the spectrum (hur hur hur) for me, since I felt that the status quo shake-up into the fourth season really was the shark-jumping point for this show. Seriously, Kim and Ron work best as inseparable BFFs, not as boyfriend and girlfriend... or girlfriend and boyfriend, as is more appropriate.

Beast Wars - same team as Reboot, a very different take of the whole Transformers franchise, it was awesome, focusing on a small cast of developing characters involved in a war on a single planet (rather than a grand galaxy-encompassing saga with a zillion characters) And don't even mention Beast Machines, which was a huge step backward.

Later there was DBZ (Never watched the original Dragonball myself), Invader Zim... what else? Ben 10, I thought that was decent enough (the first series, not the second and third) Animaniacs (with Pinkie and the Brain breaking out later)

Apart from cartoons, I liked A-Team, Airwolf, MacGuyver, Knight Rider (with the Hoff himself), Baywatch (early teenage hormones, yay!) Murder She Wrote, even... and of course, Red Dwarf, starring Craig Charles whom some other replies in this thread have mentioned... and that's all I have to say about that, since if I get started on movies I watched growing up, you'd be reading for a long time to come.

Happy minion of The Fabulous One!

My dad actual bought VHS's of Red Dwarf just so we could watch them together when I was younger as I wasn't exactly around for the original series. I wouldn't call the characters great role models but I still loved the show! I completely forgot to add that to my original post xD.

Here's a list of what I can remember for TV shows I watched growing up. I will probably list up to 2001, that seems a reasonable stop. I was 14 then. If I list any shows that aired after 2001, whoops. If I go into movies, this post will get really long. Perhaps later.

-Dragon Ball (I can swear I watched when it took it's second release in the US, with only the first 13 episodes subbed, 1995 I believe. This was before Dragon Ball Z. Once Dragon Ball Z became popular, they then subbed the entire Dragon Ball anime and released the entire series in the US)

-Sailor Moon (For whatever reason, me and my brother really liked to watch this when we were young.)

-Power Rangers

-Gilligan's Island

-I Love Lucy

-Pokemon

-Dragon Ball Z

-Ed Edd N Eddy

-Courage The Cowardly Dog

-Cow And Chicken

-Animaniacs

-Pinky And The Brain

-Dexter's Lab

-Family Matters

-Home Improvement

-Loony Toons

-Tom And Jerry

-Rugrats

-Cat Dog

-Rocko's Modern Life

-Samurai Jack

-Whatever was on Toonami up until 2001 (my cutoff date)

That's what I remember so far.

Like, don't underestimate my power man.
