What if you had the option.

Joffrey-yeah I'm with that. That little bastard's had it coming for a while.

Don't know if Westeros would be the idyllic life that most seem to aspire to-but it sure as hell wouldn't be boring.

Yeah, but it'd be so cool. And I could go off and hang out with Arya Stark. X3

In all honesty, though, for fear of getting killed, I'd probably go into the world of Star Trek. That'd be fun. :D

What if there was a way that, similar to The Matrix you could be plugged into a machine and put in a coma like state-then could decide where to live out your days.

You could live in Equestria, or on the Enterprise or anywhere else you could imagine. All the experiences would seem as real as life does now-but in actual reality you are wasting away in a tank somewhere getting fed through tubes.

Would you go for it?

Would i have a choice to go back? Cause i think it would be fun to meet some of the characters of MLP, Fringe, or like Psych or something. But i'd want to go back to see my fam... but i guess that's to easy huh?

Yeah, but then you're dealing with other stuff that will take you out- like the Borg.
I think, all things being equal, I'll stick with the ice cream colored ponies.

If I had a false life, I'd want it to be one where I'm happily in a relationship with the girl I'm in love with, or at least one where we're good friends without it driving me crazy.

I love you.

I would like go into a fantasy world and live a full life there but I would worry about my body in the real world, so vulnerable to attack. Also, are the machines going to use me to fuel their war in the real world like in the Matrix? Or is this my choice?

Yeah-I was thinking the same thing-that would be the real downside to it. On one hand you have, maybe the life you always dreamed of-on the other you are 100% dependent and vulnerable irl.

Guess you pays your money you takes your choice.  As far as the war thing goes, our taxes have been fuelling wars for generations-don't really see much difference tbh.

Hmmm... Would I go for it... I don't have answer yet but I'll just type to myself until I figure it out biggrin.png

So! Why would I? Well sometimes, the RL can be monotonous, boring, and kind of makes me feel lethargic. There are so many days where I think to myself "Ugh, what's even the point of this! I'm not enjoying myself! Why can't I just do the things I like to do?". On days like that, I would just LOVE to plug into another world (I'm talking Equestria, here) and relax, be happy, and basically melt. That kind of blissful feeling is hard for me to find right now, so I think if I went to Equestria it would be a bit easier to achieve. Isn't that Utopian feeling what we are all in pursuit for?

But just because I am not enjoying myself right now doesn't mean it will always be like that. Everything I have done in my life has been dedicated towards my future, and I would like to see if it was worth it. I want to try to achieve the things I've been working for. Find a purpose here and live for that. But that's not a guarantee, is it?

I suppose that I would go on to university and wait several years to see what path I am headed down. If it is looking good, then I will not "plug in". However, should I find that all my efforts have been wasted and I am not making the sort of contributions that I was hoping to, then I will probably go to Equestria where I can feel more at peace with myself.

TL;DR

  • Plan A: Real life.
  • Plan B: Go to virtual Equestria.

As much as I would love to! I couldn't bring myself to do that..to many ponies need help in this world.. and to just run and hide like that it just feels wrong, I cant just think of "Me" I have to think of others first or I feel like crap.. no kidding... I start to get sick...

Depends on the situation. If I had already lived a good life, and i had family left here, I wouldn't just want to enter the Matrix, so to speak. That would be disrespectful at best.

As fun as it sounds to live in any environment I could imagine, it seems to defeat the point of living a real life. I believe that people are born to interact (to varying degrees) and learn from experiences that no virtual reality would likely provide. The whole point of a virtual life, or so I imagine, would to be live without pain, suffering, limitations, etc. But those perceived drawbacks are necessary for human development, even when they’re unpleasant. So as much as I would jump at the chance of a temporary virtual vacation, I wouldn’t want to make it my whole life.
