Why do you create?

Exactly what the title says, what drives you to make music/literature/visual art? For me it's not so much the process as it is the end product. I get a sense of accomplishment from looking at my art and remembering how much time and effort I put in to make them look awesome. I like the process for different reasons. Drawing is like meditation for me, it's a time when I can shut out the world and just concentrate on the piece of paper in front of me. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'd go insane if I didn't draw on a regular basis.

So, why do you create?

@@CamRad18, I agree with you completely, or most of it.

I create mostly too contribute to the fandom, although in the beginning I just wanted to be able too draw ponies. Then as I got better I started too gain confidence as people started applauding my work. Knowing that some people liked what I was doing made me want too make it even more. I have yet too get featured on EQD, but I still don't give up. I appreciate all the favorites as well as comments I get on my work. I just like too draw ponies and creating something, I guess I rediscovered my creative side when I joined the fandom. So I create it because I have fun doing so, I create it because it has built up my confidence. I create it for myself and the fandom. Also, just seeing others work, makes me want to improve each time with each drawing. I just love that people give me good response, it has seriously built up my confidence especially within the fandom.

So I'm thankfull that I get the change too give back.. It is the most awesome feeling giving back too this fandom.

I create so I could get my name out there. I also do it because I simply love to make stuff, especially music. I've contributed a little over 20 tracks to the fandom already, which most are remixes, but I do have originals.

I've recently been learning how to play the piano.

I've been inspired by the shows amazing music and the brony musicians to do piano covers of  the songs.

( All credits will go to them :)

I'll eventually write my own music though :)

I create to get obsorbed into my stories. There is nothing better than completely losing yourself as you write. It's like you become the different persona that your characters portray.

This looks like it has less to do with ponies and more to do with general discussion. I've moved it, thusly :3

Writing is the only talent I've ever really been good at, so I pursued it xP I've always had a big motivation and I enjoy portraying it in a way that makes it permanent, and for others to look at.

I write music partially as a creative outlet to get my personal demons / aggressions / etc. off my chest, and partially to entertain others. It's a great feeling when I write a song that somepony enjoys so much that they ask me if they can put it on their iPod. That's only happened a small handful of times, though, since I'm kind of a stickler about releasing any of my music until everything is 120% to my liking...and just like any artist, I'm almost never that satisfied with anything I make.

Perhaps one day I'll write a song or two specifically for all the bronies and pegasisters out there, though.

I’ve been interested in (fiction) writing all my life, and I write because for me it’s fun and gives me a feeling of accomplishment. It’s a form of venting for me at times, and also a bit of proof for myself that my creative side hasn’t gone completely dead yet. :P As for writing about ponies in particular, I write about stuff that makes me happy, so the connection just came naturally I guess.  Now if I could just get one of my stories finished…one day…>_>

I've always enjoyed writing stories throughout my childhood (though I don't think any of them even made it past 1 page). I had such a great time the Creative Writing class during my Senior Year, especially since our Final was to write a short story. I chose to write one based of Dead Space, and I really enjoyed it (still have the slight urge to re-open it since I finished it with a closed/open ending kind of thing). I was never able to draw well, but stories come to me with ease :) (even if the ideas dont like flowing at the start). And more recently come upon making signatures which I also love doing.

Why do I create? It's just fun to :)

I'm in love with photography, it's just so...... Relaxing. Wonderful. And fun!

But I love to draw, too. I put in earphones, relax, and forget the world. Any emotions I have I can convey through my pen...

Sounds like something a writer would say..... And I write from time to time too. Mainly poems. :P

I'm still too young to do much of anything, but I aspire to create so that I can leave a mark on the world. I could care less about my own happiness, I feel that my purpose is to leave good things behind and to entertain others.

Hmm a question I've never thought to ask myself....

I think I create so that I can give my thoughts form, but that's only when I'm creating for myself. I more often create for other people, either as a gift or as a paid piece.

An example is I've been asked to work the Glastonbury festival so I can create part of the show in one of the fields. No one but those that asked me to make the piece will know its me that made it, but I'll get enjoyment out of seeing others make use of something I made.

I create, to bring out the talents that I didn't know that I had. The key is, to create as many things as possible and improve on it so that you enjoy the creations that you produce. That is why I found my talents by creating to see what factors I can create.

I generally write because I have a story rolling around in my head that needs to make its way out onto paper, as well as be refined and improved a bit. It also makes for a nice way to relieve stress smile.png

That is a simple yet hard-to-answer question. I create to answer questions and to feed my mind. I think that's why everyone creates; creativity is food for the imagination. I love to make stuff.

Quite simply, because I enjoy it and it pays the bills.

Sure, I'd like to be a world-changing person in the long run, but visual art, for me specifically, doesn't work as an outlet for that.  It's a hobby that I've managed into a profession that I'm happy with.

I don't draw ponies because I am incapable of such skills. That doesn't stop me from writing stories as I can be quite creative with paper and pen in hand. Why I write stories is simply because I want to be able to post my work and just look at it satisfied.

Heck I'm not even trying to be popular or anything however, the ultimate  confidence boost is when someone reads your story and say they enjoyed it. I feel invigorated to make more stories afterwards.

I create because I love creating.

I couldn't care less about starting a project, finishing a project, or releasing my projects to the public. It is the challenge of the creative process. I purposefully write and create myself into corners, as then I have to think outside of the box to get out. Then I have something wholly original that I know I made myself, and that is a great feeling.

Oh, also because I'm a good writer and it makes all the kids in my English classes jealous.

Well, my non-brony music is made depending on my mood, or something. I love music and, even though im still pretty new to making music, i love creating my own tracks and being able to express myself through what i create. For my brony music though, I'll be like watching an episode and ill see something or hear a song a go "you know, that might sound nice in a song." and go from there. I would love to be able to contribute more to this fandom (which is another reason why i create) but sadly im still too amateurish sad.png

I create for others. Basically, I want to create something in the persion who reads my story. What I want to create is sometimes a mystery even to me. Mostly, I want to create happiness, because that's the best feeling. Sometimes I want to create emotion in the form of sadness, but that's usually only to make the end sweeter.

Why?
For the same exact reason I've created fan content about my other interests: I love My Little Pony so much that I want to express that love somehow, and my abilities in the fields of visual arts, and music provide me with the tools to do just that.
