I listen and am open to anything, really! But I suppose that if I simply HAD to choose a favorite or preferred type of genre(?)/style of music, it would have to be Dark Cabaret, Steampunk (Arguably considered one), (Neo)classical, and Ambience.  Though, I do harbor a fairly deep love for (classic) Rock and metal as well as I've grown up with those.  So they're still close to my heart, and I still listen to them from time to time. Jazz is really good too, and (Electro) Swing.  Hm...

I like anything, really! xD There are VERY few songs, if any, that I don't enjoy.

Though I like my grouped types of music types I sometimes swing myself into other types of music but yah all music is pretty good as long as it does not come from a that blasted Jb.

I like rock, rap(not the shitty rap now, 1990-2005), some electronic, some oldies, and some classic rock. (RATM, Led Zeppelin, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Daft Punk, and Santana.) And Tupac or Biggie aren't the best rappers.

Mostly anything that I think is good. I don't listen to Country, except occasionally some Johnny Cash. Same with Pop. There is some electronic, this the genre name?, that I listen, but not much, just started into that area of music. I mainly listen to Rock, mainly to Progressive, Alternative, and Hard Rock. Not that big on Metal. Does not matter what decade it came from, just so long as it is good.

Everything, really, as long as it isn't bland and soulless, I'm willing to listen to it. But I spend most of my time listening to Dubstep, Grunge, Hardcore, J-Core, Nu Style Gabber, Gabber, Metalcore, Hardcore Punk, Speedcore, Lolicore, Post-Dubstep, IDM, Future Garage, Jungle, 2-step Garage and some Black Metal (not much though)

dubstep/rock/rap/techno/jazz  daft punk/deadmou5/knife party/krewella/Nero/drake/adventure club/flux pavillion

Again with the confusion: BROSTEP, not Dubstep. And if you listen to "Techno" and listed Daft Punk and Deadmau5 as your examples, you're more than wrong. Both of them do house (Daft Punk can be called French House, and Deadmau5's recent stuff is mainly Electrohouse/Progressive House)

Krewella, Nero and Flux Pavilion are all Brostep artists. Knife Party is a mix of Brostep and Electrohouse.

I sounded aggressive? Sorry if it seemed so, but my intention was merely to correct you, not bashing your opinion

And yes, Brostep is quite wtf

I listen to everything, although I like dubstep/ DnB/ House/ trance and other electronic music the best. They are so many, no need to count them. I also like rock a lot, but don't listen to it too much anymore. Now I often just listen to dubstep.

There's a more in-depth analysis of my favorite stuff on my RateYourMusic profile (a great site for music enthusiasts), but I'll list my top 5 favorite genres in order.

1. Progressive metal (including the whole "djent" thing, which is by no means a genre)

2. Jazz (so many different varieties, but my favorites are third stream, fusion, and free)

3. Grindcore (Pig Destroyer, Nails, Wormrot, Discordance Axis, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Rotten Sound)

4. Screamo (by which I mean screamo and not anything else; Circle Takes the Square, Loma Prieta, pageninetynine, Combatwoundedveteran, etc.)

5. Post-rock (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Silver Mt. Zion, Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky, later Swans)

I consider myself pretty diverse, but I could very well be full of shit.

House music- I mainly like Deep, Disco, Funky, Soulful/Garage, Chicago, French and Hip-House kinda sub genres. Not the stuff on the radio a lot of the time

Disco- I love Disco: Everything from Donna Summer to First Choice to Giorgio Moroder and beyond

Jazz-Funk: I don't like much in the way of Jazz like the traditional stuff, but I love Jazz-Funk

Electro-Funk

R&B/Soul: Mainly 70s and 80s music like the Chi-Lites or Marvin Gaye

I listen to pretty much anything and everything, as long as it sounds nice.
My favourite genres include some of the following: Rock, rock and roll, heavy metal, doom metal, grunge, jazz, blues, ragtime, Finnish folk music, anti-folk, classical/neoclassical, old-school hip hop/gangsta rap, old-school breakbeat, country, noise rock, and 80s synthpop.
<<<--- (user is a Nirvanafag)

Now, that being said, I OBVIOUSLY don't like ALL types of music, I mean, that's pretty much a physical impossibility, isn't it?
I find dubstep, house music, trance, modern hip hop/rap, and teen pop all to be extremely distasteful.
But hey,  that's just me. If you are a fan of any of these genres, more power to ya!
I'm not holding it against you.

I'm open to almost anything so long as I like it.  I seem to have a hard time stomaching the newer trends in music these days.  Some of it can be rather distasteful like pop, rap, etc.  Lately though, I have begun to favour symphonic or instrumental music.

Whatever's catchy! But if it is for genres, I tend to listen to all kinds of Rock the most. But I listen to other stuff frequently, too.

Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, Santana,... and on and on and on. I'm more focused on songs than on artists, so there are like five and more songs I don't like for each one I like.

I'm a guy to select songs from wherever, all it needs to do is catch my fancy and I'll listen to it. Nonetheless, my absolute favourites would probably be:

  • Alternative rock
  • Alternative metal
  • Progressive metal
  • Progressive house
  • Electro house
  • Ambient techno (and most other IDM)

I like a wealth of others, but those six are what I spend most of my time listen to. From time to time I enjoy progressive trance, French house, metalcore, heavy metal, indietronica and electro pop.
