Sennhieser 205 HD's

img-1640284-1-Sennhiester.jpg

I like them because they have nice noise reduction and frequency response. That and their reasonably cheap for what they do. I did however underestimate the length of the usb wire. It's a nuisance to try and stay untangled sometimes lol.

USB?  I have these and they run a 3.5mm audio jack.  The length is most likely for professional use e.g. FOH mixing and as the box says DJ use.

Sennheisers 201's affordable and really good sound quality. GET SOME!! They are worth it. There are also Sennheiser 202's, and 203's.

I broke mine.  I might have lent on them.

i got myself a pair of Monoprice headphones some months ago, and for the price you get them at, they certainly don't dissappoint.

Monoprice_DJ_Style_620x465.jpg

first of all, they're cheap. really cheap. how cheap? 20 dollars cheap. and they're finally available from amazon.co.uk, too, so you can buy them in the EU without spending ridiculous amounts of money on shipping.

secondly, you can bend the ear cups around. they aren't fixed to a certain position, which is nice. makes it more bearable wearing them around your neck.

then they come with 2 sets of wires: one thing 1M cable, and one slightly thicker 3M cable. yes, this thing uses detachable wires!

they're also pretty comfy. unless you're wearing them for extremely long periods of time, they shouldn't wear on you that easy.

now as for the sound quality, it's pretty good. the sound doesn't leak as much, either, which is also good. i tested it with my MP3 player, and it sounded really great, none of the ranges were fighting land over each other, it was all pretty well balanced out. the only problem is that i found out it sounds worse on my laptop, due to the laptop having a really bad sound system (the bass ranges was almost entirely missing, as opposed to my MP3 player). so if you're using them with good equipment, i think it should work out better.

lastly, they look pretty cool, and they come in this nifty box, too:

7169576763_3c0a00d8bb_b.jpg

i'm pretty sure there are headphones that sound much better than these do, but for the price they come in, and what it offers at that price, it's pretty stunning to get if you're on a budget. i'm very satisfied with them, and will probably use them for as long as i can.

My Bad I was half asleep when I wrote that lol. But yeah I am aware of their purpose for Djing and such. Admittedly mine have gone through a little battering and are fine so i'm not sure how you managed that.

I use a wireless headset made by skullcandy. The sound quality is really good compared to my previous headsets and I can walk around my house with them on without losing range on them. The only thing that may be below average is the microphone quality, but I don't do anything that requires a professional level microphone so I am overall very happy with my headset.

I have 3 headphones and 1 set of earbuds. Currently im in the process of selling my SOL Republic Tracks HD for less then the Tracks but they didn't disappoint when I first used them.

For music, I use 2 different headphones made by the famous/infamous company, Beats by Dr. Dre. The Studios are for dubstep and electro, while the Pros are for Rock and most of the other genre's that aren't made for an extreme bassline.

I'm not an average music listener, but im not an audiophile at the same time. One good reason why I would use the Beats line is for just pure bass, and since I don't care about muddiness or sound quality, it suits me well.

It's a different story for the Pros of course but im not getting into that.

The earbuds I use are the SOL Republic Jax which came out recently for 40 bucks. Since I do like SOL Republic, I decided to give them one more try to replace my 3 year old Skullcandy Ink'd earbuds.

I think everything about these is good, excluding how it feels and it didn't come with a small case. Aside from that though, the main reason why I use these is for talking to friends over steam while gaming on the computer. I set my equalizer (since I has beats audio) for a harsh bass and the Jax respond well to that which actually can make it a considerable gaming earbud set :P

These. The 'behind head head/neck' style for headphones is what I've been using for years now. They're far more convenient than on top of the head headphones, because you can lay back against something without them being pushed forwards or backwards as easily. And...I despise ear buds as well, because the sensation of having something inside my ear just annoys me.

Ahh I want a pair of these!

creativefatal1tygaming_123463.jpg

Anyways I am using these, Creative Fatal1ty headset, they are okay but the mic is quite bad. The sound is pretty good I guess but I don't like the material on the ears, I prefer a material such as the one used on these

I also have a pair of cheap Casio headphones (it's not these, but they are similar)

cp16.jpg

Which I actually prefered over the big ones even though they had worse sound. I just don't like ot have big things on my head lol

I thought about buying new headphones

As I look through this thread... I see one main problem with most of these headphones....they're all cheap plastic.

When I can,I'll be investing in a set of good over ear headphones that aren't made of cheap ass plastic. Even the Trittons I have. great sound quality (40mm drivers in each ear cup). but the build quality sucks, which is a problem for a lot of these headphones, and it's why they break. I take care of my stuff and my Trittons are cracking at the headband, where I pull the ear cups apart to put them on.

Gimme something that's not cheap plastic....something that doesn't break....something that will last, with good sound quality.

I got a set of 1970's Realistic Nova Pros sitting beside our turntable (record player) I would LOVE to use those on my PC, I just can't find a 1/4''-3.5mm anywhere. They beat the shit out of any other over ear headphone I've tried. Superb noise cancellation, and great audio quality. And these are about 43 years old....I'll probably get one on eBay. which will save me money in buying new headphones, lol.

[/audiophile rant]

These are Realistic Nova Pros.

I use some Scosche earbuds for music and for when I play my digital piano. They are really good despite the 3 1/2 star rating on Amazon. These are them right here: http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-Increased-Dynamic-Noise-Isolation-Earphones/dp/B0036ORMR6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1373590146&sr=8-4&keywords=scosche+earbuds

For gaming, I use a Halo Reach edition wireless mic for the 360. I can also use it with my computer as well if I need to.

Like, don't underestimate my power man.

My favorite cans are my ATH-M45's. Occasionally, I'll use the Razer Kraken headphones I got for free from Razer in exchange for showing them off in my VGM cover videos (which I still haven't gotten around to yet because of technical reasons), but I always activate a custom EQ profile when I plug those in, because the Krakens put out way too much bass and not nearly enough mid-high.

Actually most of them are fairly good plastic. The ones I know that aren't are the Studios but they're not known to break as often as they say they are.

Also, I did mention the Pros in there that I had which are heavy as all hell and basically are built like tanks, but from what I read im guessing you're an audiophile so the sound quality part of yours would be scratched out.

I use an ASUS Orion Pro gaming headset.

Orion_10-956x1024.jpg

They're very comfortable, and although they don't have active noise cancellation, they do a suitable job of blocking out background noise. They're Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound equipped, so they sound amazing. And for the price, they're quite a good deal.

I never really felt like I needed to invest in big, over-ear headphones, so I have no experience with them.

In terms of earbuds, I think Apple has simply blown away the competition with their new ones, the Earpods

Apple_EarPods_35446297_03_620x433.jpg

The range of sound is far better than any of the other cheap earbuds; the clarity and sound quality is also fantastic.  Plus they look slightly different to distinguish themselves.

I use a pair of purple urbanears that my step dad got for me at a museum gift shop in Seattle. :P I don't really have a computer to game on so I've never invested in a really good headset. But I like the ones I have because they drown out noise really well and are comfortable.

Now for gaming, I use the Turtle Beach Foxtrot Call of Doot-Doot headphone that on clearence at Target

I actually just ordered some 24k plated 1/4''to 1/8'' adapters for my Nova Pros...they'll be here in 3 weeks probably.

I find Beats to be totally overrated imo. I've tried them, and they got the same sound quality as my $30 Trittons.

The Solo HD's don't have decent sound quality sadly to say, which are the only beats I dislike. The rest sound fine to me but its the bass in them that makes it why I love.

I have 3 other bass heavy headphones in mind though. One of which is a PS3 Pulse headset with that bassimpact technology.

My Trittons got some deep bass to them, I can feel them vibrate on my head  during some songs and even in games I play, from the ambient music.

Sadly, I go through headphones like I go through socks. I generally like earbuds, my favorites being the Skullcandy Riot series, though I've tried Ink'ds and Jibs and loved them both. The only problem with the Skullcandy headphones I've bought is that the left earphone dies after a year of use, probably due to my mannerism of wearing one earbud, and letting the other one dangle or wrap it around the back of my neck. My favorite pair by far has been my Rasta-themed Riot buds, and I was able to stretch their lifespan out to about a year and a half before their unfortunate demise. :/

My current earbuds are a pair of white JVC HA-FX8 RIPTIDZ I bought on my college campus for like...$10. They're not bad, and I love how they sound.

jvc_ha_fx8_white_6964854.jpg

Otherwise, I'm trying to get myself a pair of Shure DJ headphones that my brother has recommended me for like $100. Supposedly, they're better than Beats, but I doubt it.

I think mine are Skullcandy. They are very nice (better than the shit apple gave me) and I use them alot. They are very comfortable and the sound is amazing. It's loud enough to please me, but not loud enough to bother others. (My other ones, the apple ones, they were "quiet" yet everybody could hear the music it was quite weird actually.)

I can tell you right now, they are. Sound Quality in Beats is easy to beat. My $30 Tritton headphones have better or equal sound quality as Beats. I would go for the Shure SRH750DJs.

The Shure's have a much better Frequency Range than Beats Studios. Shure's have a range of 5hz-30,000Hz where as Beats only have 20hz-20,000hz. Which is why Beats don't give out their frequency range, because they know that if people see that, they'll buy something else that's cheaper and better.

You will be happy.

Here's a picture to help visualize how bad Beats are.

My Sennheiser HD201s aren't the best at anything, but despite being around $30 on Newegg at the time I bought them, the sound quality is more than passable, and they're good at keeping the sound they produce in and external noise out. Circumaural headphones are the best. I love them.

These things look kind of flimsy. Pick them up and they seem even worse. Nonetheless, I've had this pair for about two years, and it's taken almost that whole time for them to finally break due to repeated dropping and being torn from my head after rolling over the cable with my chair. Gorilla Glue is now holding each can to the headband.

The only time I use earbuds are when I'm cutting the grass and need something to easy tuck into my shirt and stay out of my way. They're better than anything at keeping out the sound of my lawnmower and staying comfortable throughout my yard work.

  • 1 month later...

Just had to replace my Tritton Devastator heaphones because the wire is frayed. $80 headphones don't last a year, apparently. :(

So I stoped by Marshall's and got some Ecko headphones for almost $20. So far, the sound quality is pretty good, although they are a little too snug for me, but I can make do with them.
