So which members on our site do you respect? An why do you respect them?

Simply put i created this thread to see what reasons people give respect to others...

On topic, hmm... no, not you, Dawn. Neither is Feld0. I don't know him very well, but I do respect him as a smart guy. I don't think there's anyone in the moderation team who I respect for a particular reason. What? Being honest here.

 

Let me think for a while... Celestia damn it. I don't even have a special somember, but well.

 

Those awesome visual artists who make request threads, for making this place lovely and making new members feel cared. You know, you guys are doing great drawing OCs, avatars, and signatures for new members here. Enough reason for me to have the Creative Resource sub-section as my favourite section. You people, or ponies, or Bronies, or whatever the buck you are, have my respect.

 

People who hang around the Life Advice section. Honestly, I'm not really interested in giving advices and I haven't been there for a long time, but you guys wandering around that boring section, trying to warm people, etc (even though I doubt it will work), I give you my respect for having a good heart.

 

Actually I respect people in general, but yeah.

My definition of respect may be different from others. Yes respect involves admiration of their work and gratefulness of their actions in advancing something we always wanted (ie pony forums), but I always found respect to be something more like what you see from being mentored. I don't know too many forum members that much, but lemme just say now. I've always had a huge respect for our roleplaying group in "Land of Shadows". I love that group so much. (Great I just turned this post into a shoutout).

Not really anyone except the people I've roleplayed with. I barely post in anything but roleplays, so I don't really have much to base anything on. Granted, I do have respect for Feld0 just for footing the bill for this place. I tried owning a site once, and I ended up giving it to someone else because I couldn't pay the bills anymore. It can get expensive for decent hosting, man.

I respect everyone on the forums. Everyone joined this site because they enjoy/love MLP:FiM and that's enough to earn my respect. I give everyone the respect they deserve until I see someone do something to lose my respect. Whether it be flaming, making uninformed claims, or stating an uniformed opinion. That will lose my respect very quickly, although I am quick to forgive and forget.

I can think of quite a few names actually so I will have to narrow it down a bit.

 

Feld0: Only interacted with him once but he did start up this site and has spent quite a bit of time coding and adding some pretty cool features so I got to give him props for that.

 

Key Gear: This guy worked himself to the bone as Feldo's "tech turkey", he may have resigned but with all the stuff that has happened in his life it is amazing he was able to hold on as long as he did.

 

Chaotic Discord: Out of the staff he is one of the most reasonable and easily approachable and occasionally has some interesting things to say.

 

Artemis: He sure rose up fast, but he did earn it.

 

Dash Forever: Reminds me a great deal of Chaotic Discord, I wonder if he has taken him on as his dark apprentice.

 

And now for some regular members.

 

Batbrony: There are plenty of Derpy fans including myself who are upset over her getting censored and for very good reason but Batrony is a very good voice of reason among us that reminds us that while it may be okay to not like the Derpy situation that we must try not to be in 24/7 rage mode about it as hard as that can sometimes be.

 

NostalgicPony: He dosen't post too much, but he started this libertarian pm group on here that I am a part of and comes up with very intelligent and well thought out points and has not once lost his cool when he has chimed in when there was a political discussion on here.

 

Inazuma: He also dosen't post much in large part because he dosen't agree with the character minimum rule. He is the one who actually introduced me to ponies and I got him to join just shortly after I found this place. I like that he appreciates what he has, so many people take things for granted but he appreciates every little thing.

 

Sugarcube: Someone liking Applejack does get a few cool points from me I am not going to lie on that one. She is one of the most articulate and passionate voices on here that advocates just how awesome and underrated Applejack really is and has also started a fanclub for the mane 6 which has also earned a few cool points from me. We all have our favorites out of them including me, but some of us can forget just how important some others that may not be our favorites really are.

 

RockinRarity: I haven't always agreed with her, but she is a fair minded person who has on several occasions made some good points.

The first person that comes to mind is Lady Rarity Pony. I would go farther and say I admire him, which is really just a step up from respect.

 

Then there are others that I simply hold respect for, and acknowledge them as good people. These people would be people I still hold very highly, but can't really say I "admire" (in the sense of looking up to) too much (a few traits, certainly). People such as Commander Urdnot, Twiliscael, Evilshy, Soundgarden, and Azaxx would be good examples.

 

Then there are those that I still "respect," but I could still call them out on a number of things that they could and should work on (in my opinion). Djenty, Champion RD92, Delzepp, Firebolt, Hayze, Octavia's Cellozoid, Nocturne, Vicke and TheBronyHeart come to mind, for this. I still greatly appreciate these people for who they are, but this is where it's more of an "I like you" rather than an "I respect you." There's some more that could be added to this list, but I can't be arsed to recall all the names.

 

From there, the list just gets bigger and bigger, as if it's a triangle. I respect all to a degree (believe it or not), but from here on out, the list just gets too big to be worth mentioning.

I have a very old-chool view of respect. A lot of people think it's something that everyone's entitled to these days, but I still maintain that respect should be reserved solely for those that earn it. So, people I respect?

 

@@Feld0, for sure. Aside from the usual "he runs the board" stuff, I probably wouldn't be posting again if he wasn't such a stand-up guy. I'm especially glad that he's as open to suggestion as he has been, generally embracing the ideas I've had for Pony.fm since I joined that QA team of his in December.

 

@@Anorax, and his frequent support for my suggestions to bring a good judge-based music spotlighting system to Pony.fm.

 

Every single one of my Pony.fm followers.

 

Everyone that submitted music to Brony Music Spotlight.

 

Everyone that's sent me messages about my posts during my time debating here, and everyone that still brohoofs my posts in threads that I'm not even allowed to read anymore.

I respect basically everyone on the forums about equally as much as each other ;P Some more than others but still, everyone here is great and are entitled to their own opinions of things :3

There are loads, so I'm going to restrict myself to just naming the people I respect the very most, and  on some level, wish I could be more like. Not being listed here doesn't mean I don't think of you of a friend or respect you.

 

First off, anybody who's volunteered their time as a staff member here and chosen to help out the community here. Special mention goes to Feld0, CD, Artemis and Key Gear.

 

As for everybody else,

 

Airbourne, he's a genuinely good person who I've enjoyed getting to know immensely. His signatures help decorate the forums and give them a nicer feel, and he's just amazing.

 

Batbrony, a great friend and somebody always willing to help out anybody who needs it. He makes this place much more fun.

 

Concord, like Airbourne, just a fantastically kind person. I wish I could be more like him.

 

Stellafera, whether she knows it or not, she went a long way towards helping me feel at home here months ago. She's funny, very friendly and pretty wise too. She even makes for a great cartoon buddy

Now that I think about it, there are quite a few members I respect here.

 

- Feld0. Not because he is the creator of these forums, but he and I have been friends for many years, and we were always good friends.

 

- Sir Flutter Hooves. I didn't really interact with him alot, but he's quite a nice guy, and I can always make good conversations with him.

 

- Wildcard. There's just something about him I really like. Not sure. Not to mention he's usually my favorite on my "Ask Twilight Sparkle" thread which has been up for over a year now.

 

- Scoutaloo. A fellow TF2 fan is always a friend in my book.

 

- Concord. You must be the cheeriest member on the forums.

 

- ReGen. A Sonic fan I can converse with.

 

- Chaotic Discord. Little interaction, but he is a pretty good admin on these forums.

 

- Kyronea. She may not be too active as she was, but I certainly remember her for having very long and thought out posts. Always respected her for being very smart.

 

- Strong Hooves. He's a retired member who is no longer on the forums, but he was a fantastic Roleplay partner in the only RP I did back then.

 

- Skylar. Someone I met in the Forum games section. A great guy.

 

- Champion RD92. You seem like a great guy, and you got alot of posts too.   Never talked to you personally, but someday, I'd like to get to know you better.

 

There are many others out there who I appreciate, trust me. But those are the ones that seems special to me. :3

Dawn Rider - Don't know you all that well but you seem pretty cool
FireSoxs (i think that's his name) - gave out good advice when I needed it

I too am one of the people who doesn't respect anybody unless they show something that's respectable.

 

First I'd like to thank Feld0 for making this forum happen, without you we wouldn't even be here. Secondly I'd like to congratulate all the moderators on being seriously the best moderators I've seen. You're the only moderators on a forum that know how to do their job.

 

Alright, there aren't a lot of people who I respect though some stood out in the herd.

 

MrHaru, one of the people that makes absolutely fantastic and very good comments 'n replies. Always calm even during the peak of a discussion or debtte and always polite he's the one I compare myself with when I'm making any type of post.

 

Lowline Trash, same reason, plus he plays bass, bass guitars are cool.

 

Chigens and Kay, very helpful and friendly.

 

Derpius, although we may have never agreed on a single thing until now, he still isn't shy to post his own opinion and defend it which is a overall something I respect. 

 

The Paris Swing Cake, makes great threads and wonderful posts himself.

 

That's it, unless I forgot someone, which shouldn't be possible.

It feels like most people here are blurring the line between respect and friendship. Just because you're friend with someone, doesn't automatically mean that you have to respect them

 

Personally, I can't explain why I respect certain members. I just can't, the best thing I can say is that they are generally good people who can get along with most folks and they have respectable personality traits

I also have respect for all honest people. I just haven't seen enough of them to include them on the list. I think Azaxx would be a great example. I highly admire your honesty, but I don't know you beyond that

 

Special mentions goes to Champion RD92, Moog, Friendship_Cannon and Dawn. It's not that I don't have any respect for you guys, but I mostly see you as really good friends who are quite similar too me, not someone I would look up too.

 

Another mention to Nova. I had to include you somewhere ;3
