On a scale of 1 - 10 how would you rate your local radio station?

My local station just got permission to stop censoring music, so they can get away with playing songs that cuss constantly and not get in trouble.

It's selection is pretty good too.

Probably would give it an 8 -10; it still needs to work on getting local artists and less popular bands (preferably international) in their lineup.

I would give my radio station an "ehh" (meaning between the range of 4-8). My local radio stations consist of talk radio and pop music. It is very rare I see a radio station that I like, but when I do, it is awesome.

I'd give mine around a 6/10. Why pretty low? Well, for one reason, they never seem to tell you the title of the song, so I literally have to write some lyrics down and Google search it, just to get the song. The songs they play on the Alternative Rock station are pretty good, though.

I have 4 that my family regularly uses:

102.3: 8/10

Good selection of old and new songs. Some of what they play is crap, but pobody's nerfect.

98.1: 6/10

Same as 102.3, but feels the need to constantly remind you that they're stationed in Vegas. They also play twice as many ads.

106.5: 8.5/10

A badass classic rock station. If you're in the mood for some 80's, it's a great time.

99.1: 2/10

Utter horse shit. They only have one good song on their pitiful playlist of 20 songs. They only ever play the very newest of the new, and most of that is just plain terrible.

Amoral cynic with a bitchin' vocabulary.

Check out A Century of Song if you like music from before this millennium.

1/10 99% of all good music ain't on the radio. I'm also the kind of person who like to listen to whole albums. I don't need radio when I have internet.

Chez106 for me would net a 10/10 for me. Instead of modern pop and the hippity hoppity style, they play classic rock like queen and Bruce Springsteen and other of the 80s-90s. They also have news and rant.

Some of the fans, however, I'd give them an i.

9/10. This radio station plays almost all the songs I like; (( Heh, dubstep, pop, and the 90's, )) but sometimes it plays really weird songs from the 70's.. But it's mostly what I like.

I'd give the country station a 8/10. They manage to get by without playing the censored and cut-up version of a lot of songs, but they abuse a really annoying song or two on occasion, like these:

My local stations get a 7/10. They are pretty good for the most part, except for the ungodly amount of commercials. (That's why I have satellite radio in my car) But the main reason I gave them a mediocre score is because my city has an unhealthy obsession with having 2 of everything. We have the big 5 stations that have been around for years, and numerous other stations come and go that play the exact same shit. Every month it seems one goes and another takes it's place.

I don't listen to local radio, because the radio these days is utter crap, so instead, I'll rate the Internet radio show I most listen to -- Nitro Game Injection -- which is considered "local radio" in my house, and give it an 11/10.

But if I really had to rate my local stations, I'd rate 'em the same as most: 1/10 tops.

94.5 -- Listen all the time, especially to Moon and Staci and the morning show. 9/10

In general I'd probably end up giving all of them ratings between 4-7 because most of the music they play just isn't my kind of music. I only like certain cherry picked songs out of lots of genera's. However, I can go for any kind of Brony music.

98% of the radio stations round my area are complete rubbish (to me). A huge portion of them are Christian stations, and no offence meant to the religious among us, but it's not my personal cup of tea. Another massive portion consists of Latino/Hispanic music which I really don't particularly care for. The remaining tiny percentage plays mostly popular music, but nothing I really care to listen to. There's a few smooth jazz stations I might hit up if I'm desperate but I tend to be very picky with jazz.

There are only a few relative oases in this useless radio catalogue. One is the classical music station, which is publicly-funded and has no ads. The other is a classic rock station with a pretty OK selection.

The last is my most frequented station, an alternative rock station that's run by a local university. The only ads are occasional government PSA's, and they have some pretty decent alternative and punk songs circulating. Only problems are that sometimes they postpone the music to air town-hall meetings and such, and the selection can be pretty hit-and-miss sometimes as well. But the biggest problem is their DISMAL reception, and the station is often very staticky and often gets intercut with a (you guessed it) religious station. But it's the best of the slim pickings when I want rock, so I stick to that one most.

To answer the question:

Most of the radio - 1 out of 10

Classic rock station - 6 out of 10

Classical music station - 9 out of 10

Alternative station - 6-8 out of 10 (depending on reception that day)

Well, in truth, I think that all FM and AM radio is garbage for the most part and just isn't worth trying to find the good stuff on. Now, XM radio is a different story...I stick the channels that play 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's music.

102.5 KDON: 0/10. Mainstream dance/pop can burn in hell. Fine if anypony else likes it, but it's complete garbage to me.

94.5 KBAY: 3/10. Slightly more tolerable in terms of mainstream, but they overplay the shit out of Adele, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, One Direction etc.

106.5 KEZR: 3/10. Same case as above.

98.5 KFOX: 6/10. Mostly older hard rock hits and such. Makes for okay listening, but only if there's nothing else.

104.3 The Hippo: 6/10. Same case as above.

107.7 The Bone: 8/10. Plays more stuff from the metal realm, even if it is either mainstream metal or '80s hair metal. Still better than no metal at all, though.

Everything else is either Mexican mariachi, sappy Christian bollocks, or generic alternative rock. I also found a station that seems to be in some East Asian language, but I can't tell which (I just know it's not Japanese).

I feel like I could have gone a lot farther explaining why I gave such a low rating. Okay, fist you have the KISS station which play pop and all that yucky stuff. Then, you have the Hip-hop stations, some play crap and others play some of the older stuff from the 80's and 90's but they censor it which kills it IMO. Then you have the modern rock stations which can play good stuff like The Cure but they also play stuff like fun. and that just kills it for me. And last, you have the Classic Rock stations, ughhh these guys make me sick. They play the same three Zeppelin songs for years and they never play anything new. They also play a lot of the crappy hair bands from the 80's like Bon Jovi, Poison, etc. I mean, I'm pretty sure they can slip in some Candlemass or Black Flag into the mix but oh well...

102.9 KadFM - 7/10 Classic rock, but a lot of repeats

101.5 KhitsFM- 0/10 Same top 40 piece of trash pop songs

97.7- 1/10, never am I usually in the mood for country, and it's always the same darn artists over and over.

Anything else isn't even good in my town, that's why I used to only listen to 950AM for michael savage.

I would rate my local radio station a 5, not good but not bad either. At times it just plays the same music over and over again. It also plays those songs that just not good.

I'm pretty picky, but I listen to radio all of the time because I like having music on when I sleep. The vast majority of stations where I live are that new pop stuff or country. I just want a good oldies/Classic Rock station. There was a time where there were two or three to pick from, but that time is gone. The first one I listened to turned into a pure Rock station, and mostly hard stuff which I really can't get into. The second one has been gone for years, but it was a Classic Top 40 station and I actually really liked it. Then they pulled something weird and played Christmas music on Halloween and beyond, and the station never returned after that. The third one just got taken off the air a couple of weeks ago... It was really good when it started: A mix of 60s and 70s with a little 80s on the side. But it started playing more and more 80s, which I just am not as big of a fan.

I thought I was out of luck... I switched to a station which I thought might work as an alternative because they claim to play "anything", a lot of the oldies, but with some new music mixed in. I didn't mind some of the newer music mixed in, in fact I used to listen to new music in the early 00's and actually like some of that, but not the new new stuff. This "anything" station was also a mostly 80s station, which didn't work for me at all.

I found a new station that plays entirely 60s and 70s! Yay! That's not to say I will find it perfect just because of that, but it's nice to not have to hear all of that 80s. (Note: There are plenty of 80s songs I like, and a fair number I even love but not the majority of what they've been playing on the radio).

Spin 1038 - mainly plays mainstream music i.e what's popular now I'd give it 6/10

Nova - A really nice station with good music 9/10

FM 104 - Pretty good music 7/10

There the main ones I really listen to where I'm from :)

5.5 /10. Because they put a ridiculous amount of ads. A 30 minute drive and they would spend about 20 minutes playing ads so much that almost nobody even listens to the radio anymore. Those five and a half points are because they actually talk about interesting things and play my favourite music once in a while.
