Legends of Equestria?

And I am not talking about the online game, sadly...

 

So, It seems pretty obvious that, in Equestria, there are many creatures that we would see as Myths, Legends, or Fictional creatures (Which is what I like most about the show, to be honest...), but, are there any kind of fictional creatures that were thought up but don't exist in their world?

 

I first thought that humans could be mythical creatures in their world, but Equestria Girls proves that that probably isn't the case. Since myths are usually displayed in books, Twilight wouldn't have so ignorant as to what she is when she became a human (Or at least a very close representative of a human), since she probably would have read a book on humans. That lead me to believe that no one in Equestria knows about humankind what-so-ever (Now, other than Twilight and her friends).

 

But then, what do they think of Minotaurs? Since, in our books, Minotaurs are half-man, half-bull. But, "man" probably doesn't exist in Equestria, so would they say "Half-ape, half-bull?" Also, another thing is, Dashie asked "What are hands?" at the end of Equestria Girls, so most ponies probably don't know what Hands are. Then, what to they call the parts at the end of a Minotaur's arms? Paws?

 

It would be interesting to see what some ponies could create in their heads, since they have so much more to reference in a fictional creature than we do (assuming we don't just pull something random out of our head).

Spike has hands, for Pete's sake, how didn't they know about it since Spike has hands.

Well, I don't know about Equestria's mythology but I guess their interpretation on Minotaurs is that they even though they are half-man/half-bull I guess that they have Bulls with paws but no human parts found.

But Minotaurs do have hands, so I do wonder what ponies call them if they apparently don't know what the word hands means.

Since My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was written by humans, it is impossible that anything in the show would not have even the faintest, most abstract traces of human influence involving them. Anything we can think or come up with - even if it is totally new - is still a part of our mental capabilities as humans, at our current level of evolution. 

 

Have you seen the thread here about hypnotizing yourself to be a pony? An interesting experiment would be if someone were able to hypnotize themselves, or be hypnotized, so thoroughly, that they actually believed - for a limited period of time - that they were actually ponies who lived in Equestria, with absolutely no memory of their life on earth. If they had creative capability in that state, they could attempt to come up with mythologies, while another would record them. Then, we could see how far removed those ideas were from our human concept of mythology. 

 

If that experiment would even be possible, it sounds like it could be dangerous. So, I don't recommend it, unless the person who does it knows what they are doing, and is accompanied by a licensed psychologist well versed in the science of hypnosis.

I haven't seen Equestria Girls yet, so I don't know about what that shows us, but my guess would be that humans live in another dimension. I don't think it's possible for Equestra to lie on earth, because that would mean it's mappable,  but it's always possible that they live on their own planet.
