Pony height and body size?

Apple Bloom nailed it: the ponies are about 3 1/2 to 4 feet tall. The 8ft high candy cane is the best point of reference as it one of the definitive mentions of height in the show.

 

A friend of mine went about using the candy cane to measure the ponies' height and came up with approximately the same answer.

Yeah, I'd go with your guess that they're about half the size of normal horse; either that, or, like others have said, they're probably the size of real ponies... which, in most cases, is half the size of a horse, soooooo, yeah, that's redundant (lol )

I imagine them to be the size of miniature horses/ponies, a couple feet tall at the shoulder, maybe a bit more. Not too big.

 

Judging by the following images, the consensus seems to be around 3ft 4in.

I saw many times that bronies are trying to compare ponies size to human by looking at apples. There was an ad crossover with LPS, but humans in that show are anatomically incorrect. Here are my probable estimates:

 

Mares: Horn of unicorn mares would reach the bellybutton of a 1.80 meter human. They would weight about 50 kilograms. Their head would be the same size as human head but with different anatomy.

 

Stallions: Horn of a unicorn stallion would reach halfway between bellybutton and breasts of a 1.80 meter human. They would weight about 70 kilograms.

 

Young Alicorn Mare: Horn of Luna or Cadence would reach 1.80 meter human mouth. They weight about 70-80 kilograms.

 

Adult Alicorn Mare: Celestia's eyes would be at eye level of a 1.80 meter human. Her horn would be about 40 centimeters higher. She could weight about 100 kilograms.

 

Adult Alicorn Stallion:  A 1.80 meter human could walk directly under the muzzle of an Alicorn Stallion. They would be at least 2 meters tall and their horn could be 50 centimeters long. Weight, about 150 kilograms.

Someone did this and compared their heights using apples from the show, and found that a regular pony (for example, one of the mane 6) is about the size of a medium sized dog, like a golden retriever or something

The upper one is correct, the lower one is ridiculous. They would we huge and Celestia is the size of an Elephant here. Of course, one of interpretations is that, according to the show's title, they are the size of toys - about 10-20 centimeters high. This would be cute, but I would be sad If I met such ponies IRL because I wouldn't be able to hug Celestia.

I pictured somewhere between those two images from Cutelestia. The "correct" one looks way too small to me. Even Celestia is too small to ride on there. Real horses are pretty huge, and if you take the Saddle Arabians in Magic Duel to be horses, then Celestia is an extra large horse. So aside from the giant cartoon style heads and eyes, the actual body height of the "incorrect" picture looks closer to what it should be.
