music Most beautiful music you've ever heard?

It'll definitely be one by Mozart for me, since I'm a Mozartian here.  :derp:

But out of all his beautiful compositions, I feel that his Concerto for Flute, Harp and Orchestra in C major, K. 299 is one of the most beautiful (and well-known) of his compositions. The second movement is exceptionally beautiful, in my opinion.

And what's even more surprising, was that the flute and harp were two of Mozart's most hated instruments (probably because of the tuning), and yet he wrote some of the finest and most beautiful music for them.

Now, presenting to you, Mozart's Concerto for Flute, Harp and Orchestra in C major, K. 299...  :muffins:

(You may skip to 10:10 for the 2nd movement. :derp:)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoGg1OWOy7Y

Oh, and just some other beautiful music works:

  • Second movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K. 467
  • Anything from Mozart's concerti in general... They're all so lovely  :muffins:
  • Mozart's 'Le nozze di Figaro' (The Marriage of Figaro), K. 492
  • 'Ah, lo sento' from Salieri's 'Europa riconosciuta' (Europa Recognised)
  • Quite a number of other classical music works.  :derp:

Ooh, there are two pieces of music that directly come into my mind. I know them both from the soundtrack of "End of Evangelion" and they're two of the most beautiful classical compositions ever in my opinion.

"Air Suite No. 3"

"Jesus bleibet meine Freude"

Oh Bieber Bieber Bieber, how I underestimated you! I'm no Bieber fan by any means. But my god this is beautiful! When slowed down his music becomes an oceanic chorus of waves, angels, and whales. It's like the greatest moment of your life transfixed into song.

Like being dressed in silk and staring into the most gorgeous sunrise you've ever seen, right after discovering the true meaning of life, while riding on the back of a giant flying tiger, side by side with Morgan Freeman, also dressed in silk and on his own tiger, and as you turn to him he smiles back knowingly and gives you a slow nod.

Yeah, it's exactly like that.

Moog already mentioned Flood (RESPEKT^^), and I'll give a special mention to the second part of the album. Without a doubt the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard

Some Underworld tracks has a sort of beauty in it. Not an atmospheric feeling of beauty like 95% of the songs mentioned in this thread

Oh, and I forgot to mention this song by Sigur Rós

This is the most beautiful song in the world. It is by an Icelandic band called Sigur Ros which means Victory Rose but it was also named after the lead vocalists younger sister, Sigurros.

The song is called Saeglopur which means 'lost at sea' and it is sung in Vonlenska or translated to English, Hopelandic. The actual language is made up of nonsensical words and sounds and due to this, the meaning of the song is different for each and every listener and can be interpreted in many ways.

This will be really difficult for me since I've listened to a lot of beautiful pieces. If I had to pick one, I'd go with "Waltz of the Flowers" by Tchaikovsky

Not that I'm interested in an early exit in any way whatsoever, but I could happily die listening to this:

It has a sort of "slipping away" mood.

@Kyouko, I like Underworld and that album too.

I am quite impressed with the quality of submissions in this thread. Ponies seem to have good taste in music.

Tell me how a person judges his or her self-esteem, and I will tell you how that person operates at work, in love, in sex, in parenting, in every important aspect of existence - and how high he or she is likely to rise. When I was in middle school I had absolutely no interest in classical music. I was into classic rock and metal. Then I went on a trip with my friend and his family to see an orchestra live.  I didn't want to go at first but my parents made me because they thought I should gain an appreciation for it as they were signing me up for music lessons.

The most of the music was your standard classical music: Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, etc. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't anything all that special for me at the time (now I love it). For the finale they played an original piece by a modern composer. I haven't been able to find the name since and I wish I had paid attention so I would know. The music had the cello, violin, piano, and harp in it and it was the most beautiful music I had ever heard. I was literally moved to tears. It had a bitter-sweet tone to it. Started off a bit melancholic but ended with a lighter tone that made you feel like everything was going to okay. Ever since then I've been in love with classical music.

If anyone thinks they may know what the piece was, please tell me. I need this on my iPod.

In space, no one can hear you squee!

Its quite a close one for me but if I had to say it would be The Departure of Boromir in The Fellowship of the Ring:

Granted you can't truly appreciate it without actually watching the scene itself:

Of course I don't appreciate the glorification of Aragorn here, considering the focus is Boromir and NOT Aragorn, AND the fact that Tolkien's original scene in the book only made mention of Aragorn finding Boromir mortally wounded by "many arrows" as opposed to the film only character Lurtz. Still I highly appreciate that the film emphasized his death and stuck strictly to the novel in his final moments:

Overall Peter Jackson did justice to Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy and Sean Bean did a phenomenal job in his role as Boromir.

Also Gabriel's Oboe, by Ennio Morricone, from the film The Mission comes a very close 2nd for me. I am ashamed to say that I never actually watched the film itself. But the song itself can touch your heart profoundly:

Quick and strict to the point. Basically everything coming from Classical music is beautiful. But if I was to choose one, I'd go for:

Hearing it once in my life live was enough for me to appreciate it. It was simply magnificent.

Now, I guess I can also mention Isaac Shepard, whose name was already posted in here earlier.

But, to add something from myself, I must say I really enjoyed a certain game OST:

Because of music, character design, world and OMG DRAGONS, this is probably my favorite non-old school game of all time.

this is a beautiful song, if you have not seen Crystallize - Lindsey Stirling (Dubstep Violin Original Song)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHjpOzsQ9Y

the video makes this twice as good.

another really beautiful song is Mad World - Gary Jules

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N3N1MlvVc4

that one is perfect for sad scenes.

I played Spyro dawn of the dragon so much... i 100% that game, that's means i got every armor piece, mana crystal, health crystal, blue crystal, and kill every elite. I can still play that game like a boss, and the music in it is crazy good.

One of the most beautiful songs I have heard that is The Last Unicorn performed by America from the animated movie with the same title.

Okay, I was gonna come here to say any kind of Celtic music but I definitely gotta agree on The Last Unicorn. The soundtrack practically makes that movie.

Ghost Love Score is probably one of the most epic songs ever. My favorite part is that orchestra solo near the end. It's short but so very sweet. <3

I'm inclined to agree. I used to be hardcore Nightwish fan back in my day. Now I've moved on to more obscure and classier stuff. Like Luca Turilli, Jethro Tull, Sigur Ross, and Blind Guardian for some examples.

You guys can thank me personally on my profile. This whole album moves the soul. Hopefully into a spot of sunlight.

I post entirely too much Blind Guardian all over the place. Figures that the one time I don't someone else does!

I love Blind Guardian. I'm surprised I don't have a station for them on my Pandora already.

this has to be 1 of the 50 most beautiful songs i have ever heard. it makes me so melancholic but so immensly happy at the same time.

i reckon that this is what plays when someone who is suicidal dies from an accident and while dying they think "aaaaaaahhhh finally...".
