My turn to talk about an ignorant person at Walmart

About an hour ago, I was school shopping in Walmart for supplies. The current one being folders. As I walked into the isle, I noticed that the majority of the items on the shelves were already taken. The only Folders that remained were Tinker bell, hello kitty, My little Pony, and pink folders. Now, there happened to be a boy and his father there looking for folders as well, the boy to me seemed to be bout 13-14. Now, given the selection, he chose a pink Folder. The father, who before this wasn't even paying attention, was aghast.

Father: "You are NOT getting a pink folder!"

Boy: "well why not?"

Father: "Because pink is a color for girls. Jeez... what is it with you boy today?"

Boy: "What are you talking about?"

Father: " It's the government. They're teaching you to be more sensitive and turning you into half-girls."

The father then ruffled through the folders until he found a black one and forced his son to take it instead.

I then picked up one of the My Little Pony ones and walked out of the isle. Catching a glare from the ignorant father on the way out.

Here's the folder I got. :D

People these days, gosh.

Just let the boy get a folder, its not the end of the world.

Color doesn't matter. I understand if he was just trying to make his son 'manly' and doesn't want him to get teased, but seriously!

And that folder is amazing! :o I want a MLP Folder now XD

Pink used to be a boy color. That father must not have been too smart. Anyways, I have to say that I simply adore that fabulous folder of yours! :D   I'm glad you found one, now you can have Twilight with you wherever you go! Now that you have this folder I guess you could say that you're Twilighticious! :P

Wow. Seriously? Just because of a color. And pink used to be a boys color. Pretty damn ignorant if you ask me.And the government is not brainwashing kids to be half girls (or are they O_o).

Oh and by the way that is one amazing folder you got. :D

Wow, that sounds quite ignorant.

Some people these days.. >_>.

I don't understand whats wrong with pink, and especially whats wrong with being more sensitive.

Also, being a more sensitive guy, or i like to think of myself as, has nothing to do with the government... Like what? Thats freaking stupid. Its my own choice, i've never had support from the government for it, maybe here and from some other online friends, but the government?

Blagh..

I will admit that being younger i wasn't liking of pink.

But now i don't really mind it.

Of course its not my favorite color, but still.

Oh wait, it was just a pink folder? Ok, that pretty much nullifies my whole comment. The only reason beyond just bigotry I can see for the father's motive is perhaps a desire to protect his son from being made fun of or bullied. I have my doubts that this is the case though based on his dialogue. Seriously? The government?...

>Tmw you realize pink was actually a boy's color up until the early 1900's.

Blaming the government for everything is stupid. I blame the government for the police brutality, the debt, the corruption of the justice system, and corruption in any US system, but blaming the government because your kid wants a pink school folder? That's almost as bad as going "Damn Obama! He didn't go to the grocery store to get more peanut butter!" XD

I love it when humanity shows its stupid side! X3

Haha. You kinda just trolled him there. I would have never gotten a folder. Not that I'm a closet Brony, I've told a bunch of people at my new school. But that's just not me I'm more of a T-Shirt guy. But I do see that guys dad's point, but I don't think it would really matter.

I find it funny people have grown to think this way, there was a time when warriors were expected to have a sensitive side and be well versed in the arts. Samurai were expected to be at least half decent at poetry, for example.

In fact, in some cultures being able to openly cry without fear was considered one of the marks of being a real man and was expected of them.

"Real Men Wear Pink" exists for a reason.

You know, I've heard around that pink is in fact the manliest color of all. So that father was indeed ignorant. A girl can wear blue and a boy can wear purple or pink. It doesn't matter. Parents these days...

I could probably make a 10 minute rant about this. People used to put boys and girls in dresses as children in the early days, and both genders wore pink. There was no color bias between them. Now look at society, slamming a mold down on all our children and discarding the ones that don't make the cut. Just horrible. BTW I love purple.

Dude, I hate when people are like that. Who cares. Pink is a color, and just cause antiquated societal norm says I'm not supposed to like it doesn't mean it's not an awesome color. Meh, gender stereotypes are dumb.

As a side note, your binder is awesome, and makes me almost wish I was still in school.

I guess blaming the government for non-related things is a trend now.

I thought that blaming government for random things was a myth x_x Complete, impossible to witness myth.

Unfortunately now I must beg you to pardon me, since I'm about to quit the world for a minute and digest the nonsense contained in this story.

Cool story. As a Walmart Employee I have a TON of stories like this, but because I kinda need the job I can't get into detail. (Walmart policy; I can get fired for talking bad about the company or its clientele)

I doubt they could find you here, and they must not care much as many angry employee rants as I've seen online floating around XD.

Well, that was mean of you. What an inconsiderate thing to do in front of a young boy's father. And how dare you call him ignorant. That's . . . unnerving that anyone would intentionally instigate a strange grown man like that. What if your little act of defiance spurred this young man's father to beat him that evening? And yet, I digress. You're young. Please, think about the consequences of your actions before you act prissy in a shopping center.

I know that feel, having your father refer to you as "girly" out loud, and then you try really hard not cry and somehow manage to pull it off. Only to of course cry yourself to sleep later that day...

I honestly don't know how to respond to this, but, why would he beat his own child up just because this person bought a folder? All he did was buying a MLP Folder, and the dad glared at him
