Guys I just got the greatest idea in the history of the universe bear with me OK

 

 

If I was a boy it would be a blue ?, and if I had no gender set then nothing would be there.

I think that would be a great thing to add alongside the group title. 

 

I agree with what Sugar Cube said, I think it would be helpful for the community to know the gender of the users on here. That way there wouldn't be so much confusion and misunderstanding, especially if you look at all the adorable female pony avatars. Myself included.

 

Then again, that also means we'll have to put an end to this forum game. :/

It just wouldn't make sense to keep this going if everyone would then know what gender the user above them is.

 

So here's another question that comes to mind.

 

Is it better to keep the gender of the users as a fun little mystery, or just show it off to the entire community?

 

 

I for one would go for the latter. The thread is just a game afterall, and I think it would be great if we could resolve all the gender confusion.

I've got a crazy idea: A different set of rank badges for both genders.

 

But I guess this is too much trouble, so let's stick with these little gender badges beside the "member" thing.

I like this idea. A little symbol is hardly invasive.

 

For those who say it'll promote gender bias, aren't there gender issues caused by not identifying gender forthright? Females are already rather underrepresented in the brony community, and treating girls like guys just because they're assumed to be guys isn't exactly getting rid of gender bias.

 

There's always the option of not specifying your gender if you choose so.

But nah I don't think so because it would cause more trouble for the staff, someone would need to make a whole more bunch of badges and I'm too lazy to make 10+ badges myself. Plus, not everyone would like that. :3

I'm just saying that not all people would like that males and females are getting different badges just because of their gender.

 

Though I support the male/female char idea. I mean, why not? It's just good with more features if you ask me. Feld0 doesn't really like when there's too much stuff under the avatar though for some reason.. He talked about that when he removed a bunch of stuff long ago from down there [insert pervy joke here] He wants it to look "clean". But 1. More features > looking meh-clean 2. A male/female icon thingy wouldn't really add that much... (I still wish we had the little online/offline thingy I showed an idea of a while ago too...)

Don't really care about it honestly.  It's not like I usually treat guys and gals differently, especially on the internet.  It needs to be optional if it really is integrated though since some people don't like showing of their gender on the internet/don't identify with either gender or sometimes both gender.  I wouldn't put it, honestly.

It's already an option whether or not you set your gender in your profile. Why would it change now?

Although I've never had much a a problem (my non-pony related user name helps there) I think displaying the male and female symbols is a good idea.
