Thoughts on Spike x Rarity (Sparity)

If they do end up together he actually would eat her just in slightly more rule 34 way if you know what I mean. It is very unlikely it will happen but if it does since Spike is a dragon and dragons live much longer than ponies do Rarity could pass away before Spike even reaches puberty for all we know.

Meh. If it happens, I don't care as long as there's not a whole episode dedicated to it.

 

I don't care about Spike and Rarity being a couple, nor do I care about the shippings. I wondered that too: A baby dragon with a teenageish pony? Wonder how THAT works. I don't think the show is gonna show a spotlight on this one, but if they do, it'll probably just be small scene where they hug each other or Spike gets a kiss on the cheek, but that's about it. 

 

Plus, I think him and Sweetie Belle or more likely to like each other. Same age, you know?

Wait... will Spike ever age into a fully grown dragon?  If 'Secret of my Excess' is to be believed, can a dragon only become full grown by increasing the size of their hoard?  Even in 'Dragon Quest', none of the dragons were Spike's age, which seems weird, is that because they're all jerks?  Is a dragon's maturity based entirely on how much of a jerk they are?  If that's the case, we can only hope that Spike will be a baby dragon forever...

Do I want this to happen on some form? Yes. Do I think it will happen? Sadly, no. However, here's how I think it would go.

 

Now, Rarity has treated Spike as a friend so far, and yes, we all know how picky she is. However, we haven't seen her how she acts while she is in love, aside from her (luckily) short crush on Prince Blueblood until truth came in reality (forever he shall be in my black book).

 

Spike definitely knows how to be with someone like Rarity, and treat a lady in general, so in that form, they'd hit it off pretty quickly. Then, they both like gems a LOT, even if in different ways, however, that kind of things would work like in A Dog and Pony Show.

 

Interestingly enough, at first, Rarity would have to protect Spike, but with time, Spike would get big enough to look after himself and protect Rarity instead. We've been shown, that growing through greed turns you into a mindless dragon. But what about normal growth? We saw how something of the affect to Rarity was the only thing that got Spike back to normal. When getting bigger, I'd believe that he'd be OMEGA protective of Rarity in the end, both for love and instincts.

 

Now, let's look at the bad sides. For one, the age difference. No doubt some looks and thoughts would be form about THAT. Then, Spike is definitely a combination of Applejack and Rainbow Dash if you wish, with a competitive, sarcastic and not afraid to get dirty personality. Despite he treating Rarity like a godess, this would surely come up eventually. As well as Rarity having shown greed, jealousy and sometimes taking advantage of the situations. Like any couple, these things would eventually clash.

 

So the question is, which would prevail? The good things, or the bad things? I'm a softy, so I'd say the good ones. But even if I weren't, I'd still say the good ones. I don't think Rarity is capable enough to take advantage of Spike THAT badly, and even when Spike grows, he would still love Rarity to death. Those are my thoughts.

I like Sparity and all, but I'm highly skeptical that they will actually have a relationship , as there is probably more jokes and scenes they could do if they keep it this way, but hey who knows what the future may bring!

Sadly, I've had enough one-sided crushes exactly like this to know that it will NEVER happen. He was friend-zoned from day one, he just doesn't know it. And even if they got together I don't think it could work. Spike is too young. Rarity is so busy with her career that she's not really thinking about romance. And I doubt if she would respect him as a boyfriend, dragonfriend, whatever.   Actually, I'm not sure if she respects him enough as a regular friend.

I can't see that ever being introduced by the show and it definitely wouldn't work.

 

Physicalities aside, it's just not right. Spike has a crush on her, it's portrayed by the show as being a silly childish crush, not the beginnings of a relationship. He's a baby dragon, so he has cute little feelings and stuff. Rarity is a young adult, she feels affection for him but it doesn't extend to potentially falling for him. It's more of an "awwww" thing.

I read this fanfic yesterday and basically it was a Spike x Rarity ship, but it was set like several years in the future and so Spike is older. So I think once Spike grows up a bit, a Spike x Rarity ship would maybe be more plausible.

I highly doubt Spike could ever be in a relationship with Rarity since judging by how long dragon live for by the time Spike is an adult dragon Rarity will probably be much older or dead.

I would say the age gap is a bit wide but Spike is probably more of a teenage dragon. I mean he was a baby dragon when Twilight was a philly so it's probably more like Rarity being in her 20s, Spike in his teens.

I myself highly doubt the two will become an item. (Get together.) Spike is...Well...A baby dragon. Rarity must be over the age of an early teen. I'd like to think late. The two may interact as such, and Rarity may give her "Spikey-wikey" kisses, but I feel it's just because Rarity highly cares for Spike, and knows about his crush on her. (I'm not at all saying she's being anything but caring. I know the two share a close bond as very good friends.) 
 Spike, as I said before is also a baby dragon. Dragons are shown to live hundreds of years- a much longer time than that of a pony. I don't think he could take losing Rarity.. And when he gets older, well..Rarity will get older. Spike's dragon-type, and no other dragon types have had their life/age spans show in the show, so there is no canonical evidence of how Spike will grow up. (Besides the Spikezilla thing with greed. But that was due to an event happening. It just caused him to grow and such, not age. (It made him more stupid, too.))  As much as it is a possibility of them getting together- (Which I HIGHLY doubt will happen in the show. ) I don't feel like the show will touch on it. Just show Spike's high affection in comedic ways. (I just feels there i too many holes and such. Sorry Spike and Rarity.)

I definitly think they should be together if they want to. I don't like how some people says no cuz of their species. But I think that's just wrong. I believe that if ya love someone, no matter if they're different species or not, you can love whoever ya want. Love has no boundaries or judgment, so it doesn't matter. I personally think they should be together.

I think especially because they are not the same species, it would make a great episode, if they would ever come together.

Sometimes i think that spike will ask twilight to do some freaky magic on him to turn him from dragon to pony (if its even possible, its a cartoon so i guess it is?) just so he could be with rarity. I think its romantic but also very very weird.

Sparity isn't really a couple I like (I dislike it for the most part). I can't see it being canon, besides he only has a crush on her. How many people do you know with a crush lasting for like ten years (assuming that's how long he'd have to wait for it to be legal)?

 

But, I prefer Sweetie Belle with Spike. I think they'd make an adorable couple and may have kids (my headcanon), but sooner or later lil ole Belle would die of old age.

 

You definitely do not want to know who I pair Rarity with though.

 

But most people who ship Sparity only make Spike age and Rarity can't be immortal and whatnot. Besides, in my headcanon, I picture her being about 21-22 and Spike is roughly the same age as the CMC (10).

 

But EqG seems to show that Spike isn't a pony (you know what I mean), because it shows him as a friggin puppy or dog whatever.

Sparity (nice portmanteau, by the way) will never, ever become an official canon ship. And not just because of their species, it's because of their age. It's been shown quite clearly that although Spike has a crush on Rarity, it's the kind of crush a schoolboy has for his teacher. It's childish infatuation, not actual love. Not only that, but dragons mature very, very slowly - over hundreds of years! - so by the time Spike would be ready for an actual relationship, Rarity would most likely be dead. And even if he's "aged up" in fanfiction...well...

Aging a character up in fanfiction for no other reason than to make them a couple is kind of...sick. Imagine if Rarity was a guy, and Spike was a 10 year old girl - would you think it was cute or adorable if they "aged her up" eight years until she was legal age? 

 

I really like the relationship they have now - Rarity is aware of the crush, but sees Spike as nothing more than a good friend. It happens all the time. :3

 

@FlutterDashie, who do you pair with Rarity? I like her with Fancypants, or Discord (hush, you) if it's done well.

I doubt that it would be possible since, I feel that it is only possible in fan fictions. But, anything can be possible as for Spike and Rarity getting together can't happen just yet.

I dunno. One part of me really hopes for them to become a couple, but i fear that Hasbro may not think the same.

The fact that in the Canterlot Wedding Spike was dancing with Sweetie Bell and Rarity seemed to be flirting with Fancy Pants, and now in EQG the fact that Spike was a dog and Rarity a human . EQG being a spinoff does not help. I don't know if Hasbro is just playing with the Sparity fans or this is their way to say "No, is not gonna happen", or maybe in the end of the series they will leave us with a "Maybe yes, maybe not" kind of thing.

Inside the realms of the show, I doubt it'll never get very far past the flirting that goes on back and forth that we already see, but anything is possible. In Equestria Girls, however, never. I doubt it'll ever get past the "Rarity is is hot/Spike is an adorable puppy" stage. It'd just be WAY  too weird. Even weirder when the two were different clades! And I don't even WANT to imagine the shipfics...

Ah I don't think they well become boy friend and girl friend in this life time, sure spike works really hard to get Rarity and sure she knows how he feels about her, but its just not going to happen. Yes Rarity love spike as a friend, and spike loves Rarity as a friend too and then some but that doesn't mean they are going to start dating. Finally someone who doesn't like Sparity. Some shipers think it's canon because they hugged or something. I agree on the whole dragon age thing. I could've sworn it was said that a nap for a dragon is like, a hundred years.
