Male Alicorn?

Well with Season 4 upon us in less than a month the prospect of Alicorn Twilight is looming ahead and with the Season premiere 2 parter having BOTH Celestia and Luna missing, the focus on not just "a alicorn" but alicorn Twilight may be as big as ever. She's gonna be expected to take up the role as the protagonist as a Super Alicorn of course not that most of us didn't see that coming...

 

But that brings us into some interesting questions for season 4. The show is no stranger to alicorns of course, and Princess Cadence not too long ago was everyone's not so popular alicorn princess. She still gets plenty of hate from what I've seen.  Then there's various Ponycon spoilers alerting us to the return of Nightmare Moon this season and the grossly neglected Princess Luna. Of course all these characters thus far have been FEMALE

 

My question to you all is simple then: What if the show decided to have a MALE alicorn character? Would he be a villain, protagonist or background character? Could you even foresee such a character on this show or in the comics?

 

Also before we go on let's be clear:

 

 

You're damn straight you are. No villain/antagonist, as of yet, especially a male villain, has or will topped Discord yet in my book. He's top troll on the interwebz and even managed to switch sides and chill w/ Flutters and Celestia. He's not just a physics crunching badass, he's a physic's defying badass. Discord doesn't need your best pony popularity contests. He's the best at whatever the hell he damn wants to be.

 

But enough of my shameless paganism.

 

If not a male supporting character, I think a male alicorn would be a great if not interesting boost to the show. If the show really wanted to go beyond its demographic of little girls and their parents, why not have an appealing canon (sorry Flash Sentry) male character that isn't just a boy toy for 1 of the Mane 6? Hell I don't care if he's a namby pamby prince ( you're cool in my book Spike), it'd just be nice to have one. Also it would make help I suppose avoid any unintended notions of sexism against males as ironic as that sounds. Why not just make oh say, Prince Shining Armor an alicorn too? Is saving and protecting the Crystal Empire not enough to get a promotion and a pair of wings these days?

 

Bonus points if you actually provide or make pics of a male alicorn.

I think that a male alicorn could probably be something good for Hasbro in their marketing but, other than that it could be a bad idea.

We'd have to have enough relvent males to build one up to being a alicorn.  And i'd be fine with that taking two seasons of slow, gentle character introduction, some world building, twilight getting a male student.  (flips off the shipping police in advance).

what needs to not happen is a male alicorn JUST SHOWS up.

 

I mean if one is locked away magically in some kind of dungeon, or what have you, maybe.

I'm not opposed to the idea of a male alicorn but I am opposed to the idea of another alicorn. We have plenty of alicorns in the series right now and we don't need anymore. However, I would love to see a male alicorn. It would change things and be interesting so I would like to see a male alicorn if we had to have another alicorn in the series.

I think there is such thing as a male alicorn or prince because pony creators allow male alicorns and I can look like an alicorn at anytime. (Not in real life)

I think it would be a great idea to have a male alicorn.  The show has so few male characters in authority.  I know the reason for that is so that they don't fall into the trap of making the female characters...er..."subjugated".  I think you know what I mean.  Most shows have trouble showing women in power, especially when they share it with men.  However, I believe these guys can pull it off.

The best way to show a male alicorn would just to show Celestia and Luna's father. There's no need to add any more to the present timeline like they did to Cadence. That would be jumping the shark and alicorns less special as always.

Exactly, MLP seems to be doing the exact opposite of which most other shows do. Not that I have a problem with it, but it is that females seem to have superiority over males as far as the pony race  is concerned. Discord doesn't count even though he's part pony and Prince Blueblood Shining Armor are the only males with a higher authority.

We're still not even entirely sure if it's even possible for a stallion to become an Alicorn.

 

The excuse we were given for Starswirl was that he never discovered friendship and Sombra was evil.

 

But, they seem to be the only two candidates with similar enough magical capabilities to achieve the transformation.

 

So, that only seems to leave the possibility of Shining Armor given his talent for shield spells or as someone already stated Luna and Celestia's father, but so far it seems to be an exclusively female trait.

 

More than anything, I would be fine with a definitive answer as to whether or not it's possible.

Sorry but no thank you to the whole "Male" Alicorn bit.. no thanks. Only Females... and only princess's... why you may ask? Because its a know fact women are stronger then men.. in many ways.. and its like every time a woman gets something... we men have to come along and get it too.. so its kind of like ahh no....

 

 

Top of all that... I had seen Shining Armor.. as a alicorn once... it grossed me the buck out.. its like EWWW male alicorn... it just looks soo wrong...

So they would appear to be non existent, our antagonists/main protagonists with the exception of Discord, and Sombra (being only a dark unicorn). I mean I know Chrysalis is a changeling, but no big distinction in the whole "female alicorn" bit.

And I always had a headcanon that the royal sisters are the last two "pure" alicorns, the last born demi-gods, and all the other princesses are made demi-gods, and as such they do not have the same amount of power.

But Twilight was changed after completing her education in friendship to Celestia's satisfaction. We saw in flashbacks that Cadence was an Alicorn when she was nothing more than a (presumably teenage) babysitter.

Notice the bold

Celestia seemed to have chosen her, known she was to be destined for better, and trained her. She also supposedly had originally selected Sunset Shimmer for similar reasoning. It all points back to Celestia.

 

Cadence, according to the book, was rather young when she was changed. So it doesn't really break anything unless they go WAY back before she was Twi's foal sitter.

They didn't really give much to time reference, but Cadence's experiences as a little filly were short lived before being picked up (By Celestia).

I really hope that a male Alicorn will show up sooner or later. The show has already been confirmed to go on for five or so years due to its popularity. Since I believe the main reason why the show is still running is due to the bronies being nearly a male based group, I would hope they would cater to us.

 

I mean they have already had episodes influenced by the bronies, and I would hope that sooner or later that a male Alicorn will show up either by being introduced or a current character transforming into an Alicorn.

While, I wouldn't mind seeing a male alicorn (bets on either Shining earning the right, or his and Cadance haveing a kid and being male), but I think alicorns should be and earned status. Of course, we have no idea when Cadance became one, of if she was born one...or even if Celestia and Luna were as well. All three have had time to earn that status obviously.
