Most ridiculous claim you heard from a hater?

Other than what's been repeated ad nauseum, I'd say the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen was some guy on DeviantArt who claimed the show didn't have any real plot to it and the people who worked on it just wanted to sell toys and nothing else. I'm thinking: "Umm, yeah, you go with that." :okiedokielokie:

I've also been called autistic, sexist, Mexican (What?), mentally disturbed, racist, a "fillyfag", and a nazi.

LMFAO, flllyfag? Usually anti-bronies are too idiotic to even know the term filly let alone equine.

Now, the autism term being thrown about at us is beginning to piss me off. Every time some one wrongly assumes that us bronies suffer from a mental disability, I can't help but think the haters suffers from one themselves.

People can throw "gay", "autistic", "paedophile", "horsefucker" or whatever else. They can insult me however they like, but the worst thing I ever heard someone say about MLP:FIM was not mindless trolling, but it was a pseudo-intellectual comment about the show:

"It's made to market toys for little girls. It's cute ponies having fun."

The worst part? There's some truth in that, and to the uninitiated, that's exactly what MLP:FIM is.

Regarding autism, I have mild asberger syndrome, and I imagine there are quite a few other MLP fans on varying degrees of autistic spectrum (please don't call autism a mental disorder). But this happens with EVERY large fanbase because it is something we can obsess over. I mean Jesus, look at Pokemon and Sonic - both HUGELY popular with the autistic spectrum community

I would expect myself to know of a treasure trove of claims since I used to be a hater.  However, the only thing I remember was that I said that MLP makes you stupid or something like that.

If you used to be a hater I am very curious as to what turned you around if you would like to share.

Hmm I've been given the "There aren't even any male ponies, so why do you like it?" line more than once :P

Course I break out the list..

There are PLENTY of male characters, its just a matter of remembering their names

Before last summer, I just thought bronies were weird, but didn't give them much thought.  Something (I currently link it to a HuffPost article on Equestria Girls) made me take notice, and that gave me the idea that bronies could become the next big fad at my high school.  Determined to stop it, I gathered all sorts of MLP knowledge and my hate grew stronger all the time.  It didn't help that all of my classmates were anti-bronies (MLP never caught on in my school).  Then in late November, I finally watched the first episode and I thought it was actually good.  The months that followed were brutal.  Half of me wanted to become a brony, and half of me wanted to remain an anti-brony.  In that time, I watched a few episodes in an attempt to figure out my fate.  Finally, in mid-February, my anti-brony side gave up and I became a brony.  Just to protect myself, I still pretend to be an anti-brony in public.  Now I'm beginning to think that some of my friends are faking it as well!

Thank you for sharing.  I am a bit behind in watching the show as I am new to all of this.  But last night until 2am I watched the first half of season 3.  In it was the episode about the young blank flank Babs who joined the nasty ponies so she wouldn't be picked on.  This reminds me of that.  Please don't get me wrong- I can't say that I blame you.  It's not a fun life to be ridiculed and bullied.  I don't know what choice I would have made if faced with this when I was younger.

And the haters say there is nothing to these shows.  There actually is quite a lot to think about and they of all people need to watch some of these episodes.!

I'm actually not fully caught up myself.  I am a little farther along though: I watched season 4 episode 9 (Pinkie Apple Pie) today.

Me and my friends haven't actually hated on bronies since they are so scarce at my school, but we probably would if there were.  Now that I am a brony though, I'd probably try to stop my friends and tell them that they're entitled to their own opinions.  One of these days, I'll say that I don't have a problem with bronies that are responsible about it, just the extreme ones (which is actually true).  However, I won't go all the way and tell them that I'm a brony.

You reminded me that I ridiculed the bronies for the show's lessons.  I thought that they could just get them anywhere, and that they don't need to be watching a little girl's cartoon to get it.  Turns out I was wrong.

I once had someone accuse me and one user Tumblr user of having a horse fetish(take note here, the worst thing on my blog is maybe some PG/slightly suggestive anthro ponies buried along there and the other guy has even posted on his blog reminded people to "for the love of god tag your smut so Tumblr quits shoving it in my face when i search the pony tag"), it went down on this

Moron: I'm afraid to browse the pony tag because I've already seen five porn pictures

Us: politely explains the filter to her and how to turn it on so she can avoid it

Moron: It doesn't matter, it shouldn't be there all(note, at this point it's obvious she's just to lazy to use the NSFW filter so it's her fault she found it)

Me: Explains that it's stupid to tempt fate and search something you know has NSFW content with the filter off just to complain

Moron: *Goes into a triad about invading little girls spaces with our horse fetish*(even though neither one of us has clop on our blogs to my knowledge)

"If you watch my little pony you must be stupid."

Like, what? Seriously, to say that is so annoying. I can watch whatever i want, it doesn't make me stupid! I mean sure, MLP FIM is not the documentary channel, but niether is South Park and that crap.

no offence to South Park fans.....

I was told by some old lady that all bronies were gay, child-molesting, Satan worshipers who are tearing apart the carefully balanced social fabrics of the American civilization. That we are worse then the Third Reich.

I couldn't stop laughing.

"balanced social fabrics" BWAHAhAHAHA  if anything its un balanced

I haven't had too many problems with brony hate, but there was this one guy who would always get on this game that I play with my friends and he would join our game and just start ranting about how bronys are nazis and they're all pedophiles and yada yada yada. I couldn't help but laugh at him because of how ridiculous this guy was. Probably about the third or fourth time he got on with us he starts his usually brony hate rant, and my friend (who is also a brony) asks "Have you ever seen the show?" and obviously the guy says no. Then my friend asks "Well then how do you justify all your claims?", he replies with "well I just know". My friend proceeds to tell him that he should try the show before trashing on people who like it, the guy says "I have better things to do than watch some stupid show for little girls". Almost instantly afterwards I reply with "What, you mean like wasting your life away browsing the internet for bronies you can troll, who, by the way, are laughing at you because of how stupid you sound?". Needless to say that guy hasn't bugged in awhile.

LOL where did the whole bronies are nazis thing came from? The episode Bridle Gossip is the very antithesis of Xenophobia! XD

Being that I'm not public about my bronyism and because I'm mostly confined to forums and imageboards when ponying around, it's rare that I find any haters.

The most ridiculous claim is that we are man-children who probably did not have fathers growing up.

That was hilarious.

And for some reason, they assume that calling us *cloppers* is an insult.
